I found the game's lack of plot makes multiple playthroughs more enjoyable. Most games I don't bother replaying because you're typically forced to sit through a crapload of dialogue or cutscenes.
Already half-way through NG+, although I'm stuck on 3-2 thanks to the fucking Man Eater one shotting me with every move it has. Probably going to just recruit 2 BP and have them fight for me. >.>
Never thought of doing that fog-trick again. Ignored it on my first playthrough, but I didn't have my bow-build back then and just went in and rambo'd it.
Btw, do you recall how many souls the BP Skelly in 4-2 Soulsucks for? I'm just curious if it's faster than farming the entrance of 4-2 or not.
I'm still soul-farming 4-2 entrance and currently getting diminishing damage increase on my Sticky Bow now -.- with DEX @ 32 (+2 att a level), and will attempt to beat 4-2 later once I find a better way of dealing with those ghosts and their beam-attack which ohko's me.
(takes 2-3 bow shots for me to kill them, and they get that attack in during that time)
[EDIT] God damn that fire brazier is a cheap defense. Thanks for the strat. Now to see if I can soulsucker a poor sap in 3-3............and obviously the game disconnected from the server and has yet to realize it, just got the generic boss instead.
Soulsapper, it requires you to do the whole animation while touching the mob? I tried having the boss run into me at the tail end of the animation and it did jack.
Soul sucking the 3 black phantoms is a million times faster than any other method, even 4-3 doesn't compare. It gives something like 130k souls with the right equipment (this was on NG++ though).
What was the farming strategy for 4-3? I never bothered to check since arrowing all those things is a bitch with the wind/distance, and using the storm sword would take awhile.
Bit of a shame soul thirst requires 200mp, as I ain't grinding souls to put 12 levels into Intelligence.
I used hyper mode with bow and arrows for 4-3, you can 1 shot them without the buffs, but it takes a pretty large amount of dex. I never tried killing them with magic, but the storm ruler is really slow and you'll likely get Steve Irwin'd midway through the attack animation. Their attacks are easy enough to avoid, just roll sideways (you'll get hit most of the time if you roll backwards) and each one yields over 6k souls. There's probably around 12 or so in the area, and it's not uncommon to clear out all of them in under 2 minutes.
As for Thirst, I wouldn't bother with it at all. Soul sucker already doubles your souls and gear can give +30%, shelling out 1000000+ souls just to get enough mp to use it would be a waste. Not to mention using 190284098 spices per farm run isn't much fun either.
in NG+ with PB on world 4 i was getting around 52k(avarice ring+soulsucker) from the black phantom with the dual katana and around 32k from the black phantom with greatsword and yea soulsucker sucks on moving targets mostly good for surprise atks(graverobber ring you can get very close to the black phantoms).
Hi all, So I'm pretty new at this game but not that new, I've got all the basics down I think. finished 1-1 1-2 and 1-3 all of 2 and 3-1 and 2 to give an idea of where im at. I'm around SL 60 and my build Ive been pumping end and str. I been using the brushwood set and recent changed to gloom. I like the demonbrand and soulbrand weapons but they are pretty slow swings. I also like 2 handing the long sword and knight sword, I find 5 or 6 swings in a row satisfying.
I'm starting to feel like I might be pumping the wrong stats. Ive been upgrading various swords to crushing to take advantage of my str.
Now I'm kind of thinking I should have made a faith and str build and upgraded a magic dmg weapon because it seems everyone and their dog uses that phys dmg down spell etc..
Guess my question is it too late to switch my build without having to go super high in soul level. Is it even worth it to pump faith for those faith scaling weapons? Is it better to just keep pumping str and use that enchant or cursed weap spell? Finally did I pump end too high and is it essentially useless? I know the increased stamina and extra Item equip stat is nice for heavey armor (which Im not entirly sure its even worth it)
Anyhow, hope someone can make sense of my situation and help me out. I really would like to play through a few new games with 1 char so I kinda want to know should I get out of this char now while I can or just modify it to a new build from what Im at already or should I just keep on my path of pumping str?
Thanks for the help in advance
60 is definitely not too late to start switching stats. If you're looking for enchantments as a melee character, use either cursed weapon or sticky white stuff (slugs in 4-2 drop a ton of these and they're close to the archstone). Light and enchant weapon spells are largely useless without a decent magic stat. Switching to faith sounds like a good move, I found crushing weapons to be really weak even with enchantments, even with an S mod there base damage is just too low imo. As for pumping up stats too much, I wouldn't bother taking anything past 40. Stat bonuses gradually have less and less of an effect, so the difference between say level 50-51 in a stat will be unnoticeable. If you feel you messed up your stats, you can also find a partner and soul suck each other to delevel while retaining your souls. allowing you to respec your character without starting over again.
at first i though magic wasnt that good so i put all my effort on end/vit/str/dex but after i saw that i didn't need that much i change to magic stats and i must say alot of them are awesome my favorite spell are warding, anti-magic and homing soul
Well, almost done my first play through and here are some general observations I had while playing, wondering if anyone else felt the same.
Anyone else notice a lot of similarities between this game and ffxi hah. I guess they are just themes that come up in a lot of RPG's but slashing/blunt/pierce dmg, flying sea creatures (mantas) and psycheflayers (I know its cuthulu or w/e from Lovecraft but still) that shoot a paralyzing "mind blast".. Right away made me think for ffxi.
Secondly anyone else feel that the first level is head and shoulders above the others in terms of "fun factor"... I find the red-eyed knights are hands down the most fun enemy to take out.
Anyhow great game all in all, sorry I'm bored @ work...
No love for the Fat Ministers? I just love killing them because of the way they look. The Knights/Skelly are too badass for my mind to scream "DIE YOU FAT FUCK!".
Does starting as a royal or whatever and nabbing that ring early for soul arrow spammage make this game alittle easier. The way I have my character....I just....I think I've fucked myself over. I can't do shit.
i like it
