Oh man, that's like the review of FFXI way back in the day after playing for 2hrs or something and all of a sudden having this ultimate grasp on how the game is played.

So uh.....are boss battles supposed to change in NG++ ?
Was just about to beat 5-3 until I realized Garl wasn't camping in his usual spot. Instead be was right beside his mistress in that god forsaken sludge you can't dodge shit in. Suffice to say I got my ass handed to me. Guess I can always use the cheap arrow strat instead and kill the Maiden outright.
Garl OHKO'd me with a riposte in NG++ or +++, was pretty shocking considering how simple the battles with him are before that. It's probably best to just snipe the maiden considering how little control you can have over a computer's riposte... He was in or near his usual spot though.
For me his usual spot is in the narrow passage of the left route where he would just stay guard there, making the fight a simple game of making him swing, roll back, then R2 once, roll back, repeat.
Do any of the other bosses have slight alterations during NG+? He's the only one I found so far, and he's not technically 'the' boss.
Anyhow, got my Saint's Trophy, which leaves one more playthrough to go for my final gold trophy, which be Soldier's. Off to beat 1-4.
[EDIT] Yeesh, that was quick. Stopping before killing the False King, just wanted Ostrava/Blue Dragon out of the way. Lizard farming time, yet again. >.>
Finally got to see the end of Ostrava's little quest at least, was happy for that.

Adventuring in the kingdom of Boletaria is going to be just a little bit easier this week, as PlayStation 3 role-playing game Demon's Souls switches to "Pure White World Tendency" today in recognition of the Winter Solstice. Wuzzat, you say?
Well, if you play Demon's Souls casually, oblivious or indifferent to the game world's "tendency," a Pure Black or Pure White setting has an effect on many things in the game. Enemy strength, availability of certain items and luck of the drop are all affected by tendency, a setting that can be manipulated by certain world events.
But Atlus is forcing a change to the world to Pure White for the next week—similar to the Pure Black World Tendency event that hit this Halloween—something that's not easy to do by oneself. The online game server goes white right about now, specifically at noon Pacific Time and ends next Monday, December 28, also at noon Pacific Time.
What does pure white world tendency get you? Lots of stuff, including non-player characters that wouldn't normally appear, access to certain portions of the map, all kinds of stuff! In fact, you can't get certain PlayStation Trophies without a Pure White World Tendency in effect. The unofficial Demon's Souls wiki has a handy explanation of what's different.
Time to get to work!
Flamelurker is a dick when fought alone. Good luck on molesting yourself.
Wish they would do another pure black, I could use some easy colorless souls without the hassle of dying repeatedly.
Did myself a favour at any rate, and made a spreadsheet of all the weapons I'll be upgrading and wtf I need. Was surprised at how many chunks of ore I needed for the majority of them.
Btw, in 2-2, what's down in that lava pit area from within the maze? I take it I'll be needing a full flame resist setup (Gloom + Ring + that one spell?) to run in and grab the loot there?
There are a couple of things, notables are a pure dragonstone and I think some chunks as well. All you really need to get em is a high fire resist shield though. If you're actively blocking with the brushwood shield you can run around in the lava without ever taking damage, aside from when you'll be forced to when picking stuff up. You can also use this trick to bypass half of 2-1. In my NG+ playthroughs I had enough HP to run across the lava with just the Dark Silver shield +5, but it was pretty close.
Yea, he was annoying as shit when i decided it would be fun to fight him alone. He just goes apeshit on you when his life goes down.
Never knew about the shield trick, will keep that in mind, thanks.
Flamelurker I cheat on. I arrow him from the start so he rushes towards me. Once he's near the fog I run left and around the little skeleton remains there. If timed right, Flamelurker will screw up his pathfinding and continually run into the remains from the other side, while you sit safely for the most part as long as you dodge his AoEs.
[EDIT] Currently fighting him again myself, took a (bad) pic of what I do.

That bloomed-to-death crap on the right is the fog you enter in from, red mess is the boss. (my camera blows at taking photos from my monitor)
After my second playthrough, I just do the poison cloud trick and surf the web or something til Flamelurker's dead.
Get in to body form and summon some blue phantoms to fight Flamelurker if you can't beat him solo. I managed to do it, but it took me like 10 tries, and I got lucky because he got stuck by the bones next to the stairs.
I think I'm soul level 34 or something last I checked.
Arrgh, why must 3-3 & 5-3's souls be needed four times. They're in the most annoying worlds in the game. -.-
Got 6 stone upgrades (mercury/dragon/grey/marrow/moonlight/cloud) and 7 unique-weapon upgrades left for my platinum. Going to feel soooooo good when I ding that trophy. 95 hours of gameplay so far. >.>
Got help for flamelurker and killed his ass(finally) had a hard time finding out how to beat the dragon god(thanks kuya). I was finally able to make the meat cleaver but now because of the pure white tendancy till monday you're able to pull out the dragon bone sword now.
Dragon Bone>MC?
Truth be told I just stuck with Large Sword of Searching for the majority of my first play through (a sword upgrade using 4-2's boss soul with Ed the Blacksmith), but that was due in part to it having a decent range, and being quick to attack with without raping my stamina which DBS had no problem doing in two swings. Not to mention increased drop-rate. ;/
Moved onto Northern Regalia for my second playthrough since it's badass with pure-white CT, great mix of physical/magical damage.
