DBS and Meat cleaver are both great, they both have the AoE ground stab and both can be enchanted. Hey Kaisha, any chance you could share that spreadsheet of yours? I keep sitting down and attempting to make a plan, but I have trouble planning beyond weapons I personally plan to get a lot of use out of.

I'm definitely going to take advantage of PWWT for the next week and try to get all of the crap that's a pain to grab. Getting myself PB for later NG+++s will be no problem, but getting and maintaining PW is such a pain.

There's nothing special about my spreadsheet. All I did was manually enter all the stones I had, then did a check on the Demon's Souls wiki and compared to what I needed to take a weapon from the start of the upgrade path to its max for each type of stone.

Am I the only one who finds maintaining PBT a pain in the arse? Playing the game normally nets you perfect white for the most part unless you die a shitload while in body form.

PB leaves you some room for error and less chance to fuck yourself than maintaining PW imo. That's why I'm anxious to basically gather all things rare for trophies while we're stuck and I can't possibly fuck up.

Thanks for the link to the planner. Not sure how I missed that on the wiki. Will be great each time I want to know exactly how much endurance I need to wield whatever combination of gears I want simultaneously.

I just need to get off my ass and start making certain things for the various top-level weapon trophies. I was literally overflowing with Darkmoonstone Shards to the point that I was tossing them. I finally put some to good use and made a Crescent Falchion +5, but it's unlikely I'll ever use it. That's my problem is that I'm pretty set on gear that I'm going to use, but hate to completely waste my pure stones toward the trophy on something that will be completely useless like making any large sword into moon/crescent version.

I just never know what to make into moon/mercury/etc. versions in the event that I might actually find them useful sometime down the road.

I just got to the point where I realized that worrying about making the most out on upgrades leads to diminishing results, and given I'm at lvl 200+ where invasions are rare, I'm not too worried about it since mobs in this game are fairly dry in the AI department compared to PvP situations.

Will possibly get all OCD about twinking my gear at a lower level if I feel the need to roll a new character when I hit platinum.

I guess I'm just gonna go down the trophy list, and then pick a weapon at random to max out for it since I'm pretty good to go in every department as far as my play style goes and I can't really see much chance of change in that.

Out of the blue this morning my wife decided she wanted to try a character. About 2 hours later she'd finished Phalanx and I was damned surprised since she's usually afraid to try any game that requires any level of twitch. Blue-eyed Knights were giving her grief at first but she doesn't have much trouble with them now. She only died 4 times on her whole attempt. Now I think she wants to keep going.

Oooh, that's a good idea since she's trying a slightly different play style, but considering I'm enjoying the game enough that I'll probably go through it 4+ times anyway it might be a non-issue.

so i go to latria to free rydell, in PWWT. as im proceeding to get the venerable/rogue's stuff, I see a what turns out to be rydell's black phantom drop, the phosphorescent pole. i never killed his BP, nor even remember having PBWT in latria. but the gear was just sitting out in the open, it was weird.

Man I'd pick up this game again if I can guarantee an invasion into someone's game on BG. Was gonna make a char dedicated to PKing til I realized that your PSN name is shown when you join a game and not your char's name.

I dunno about NG++, but on NG+ you definitely have to go rescue the NPCs so I assume it's the same for all subsequent NG+s. This has been a huge pain for me since I have less access to certain grass and arrow vendors.

For Old Monk, if you're concerned just take yourself offline before doing him... or you can just get to the top and not go in the fog. AFK for a good while and a lot of the time the person will get bored and leave (no message when this happens) and you can fight the NPC Old Monk.

Yeah. Best to do him offline for a piss-easy (well, was for me) boss who sticks to melee weapons only.

Have to rescue them again. I never really found it an issue since I 'finished' one NPC per playthrough that teaches unique magic, to which I could use the basic NPC on my following playthrough to memorize what I learned from the others. That and the only NPC I really care about is Patches, and he's a joke to get.

Ok, I'm soul level 141 currently. Despite all of my attempts (2 completions) I still have not gotten a pure moonlightstone. I also still do not have a pure blade stone as well. If someone around my level has any extra of either of these, or a weapon I can pickup to get the trophy please let me know. I'd much rather just get the stones and farm the rest of the stuff, but as I've spent about 18 out of my 127 hours farming that stone alone with no success it is quite frustrating. Other stones I need more of are 3 chunks of cloudstone, chunks of greystone, chunks of spider, chunks of sucker and chunks of marrowstone. I've completed the weapon sets: hardstone, sharpstone, and darkmoonstone. Also only missing 1 ring from mephisto person, as they gliched out when I did the quest the first playthrough. I killed all the people, and after completing the quest instead of getting a reward she just did her final dialog and attacked without giving the ring .

Anyone know where the best location to farm Marrowstone chunks is at? Wiki seems to imply they only drop on pure-black world 5 off those flies, and I can't recall where a good spot to farm them would be at other than just past the shortcut area from the entrance.

Nearly done getting my platinum finally, just need a few mercury chunks (will farm worms in the bottom of the 3-2 tower), and some cloudstones (quick and easy run to 4-3) and I'm done. Probably going to wait for the online event to finish off though since I don't want to accidentally screw my tendencies over by logging in while it's still up.

Sage Freke had said that the priests don't know what their god really is, and when you fight the real allant, a voice (who is it?) tells you that the old one was created by God (presumably the same god of the priests) to end people's suffering. It is silly to ask about this game's plot seems they leave a lot out, but is there any reason to doubt that what this voice is saying is true?
