Im actually trying to avoid spoilers as much as I can but one time choices always make me ask for help. D: Im a mage and I still only have 2 worthwhile spells (firey and blue shooty). Also all my gear sucks and I still have a short sword and catalyst (although the formor is now a DRAGON SWORD FUCK YEAH)

Now the question is do I turn these boss souls into spells? D: This game has a lot of tough choices lol.

What kind of char are you rolling? Are you a melee attacker that just uses spells as a backup and occasional range damage, or are you more of a mage that rely on them to kill bosses?

Anyway, some spells you should get on your first playthrough:

One Time Revival - from Old Hero (2nd boss in Shrine of Storms - give to Saint Urbain after you rescue him) - This gives you back 50% of your hp if you die, obviously a lifesaver. It lasts until you die or zone out, so you can put it up as you enter a zone and regen the mp you lost over time.

Total Protection - from Tower Knight (give soul to Freke once you rescue him) - gives you a big defense boost for about 45 seconds or so.

Poison Cloud - from Leechmonger (first boss in Valley) - does 5hp/tick damage for about 900 damage and lets you solo some bosses and black demons that are super hard otherwise.

I found that the other spells were mediocre at best unless you have a huge mana pool.

Uhh sort of a mix. I don't do spells on regular guys unless I have to, but for bosses I don't even get close and just use spells. Also some regular guys are fucking scary as shit or far so I obviously spam the shit out of spells. My highest stats are 28 int, 21 magic and then 15 endurance because I die a lot lol. My strength is 13 but I have a dragon sword that kills shit without trouble except for that super gay lava level with those super gay fire ass bug stuff argh.

Yeah, trust me get One Time Revival (and make sure you have 100mp in your mana pool) and you'll die a lot less. If something hits you and activates it you can just recast. It's nice having a safety net since the game is so harsh on you if you die.

You might be better off going with a moon weapon that scales with your magic stat, dragon weapons just add fire damage and nullfies all the modifiers. Basically pick your best stat out of strength/magic/dexterity/faith and get a crushing/moon/quality/blessed weapon to match it.

I have no idea what that weapon stuff means and that revive spell isn't available yet. As for the dragon weapon, the fire effect usually fucks shit up in one hit or so so I don't have too much trouble with it, although I still have the starting catalyst. D:

The starting (wooden) catalyst is actually the best one you can get until you get the talisman that lets you cast both spells and miracles. There really isn't much gear progression in this game, I think I used my starting armor until NG+

as for armor u can get the strongest one(strongest defense i mean) in 1-1 from the gate on the left side, need to be careful with executioner miralda though and another thing you might not be able to use it at first since its heavy.

you can only kill them twice, 1 as a normal npc(they usually pop on pure white tendency) and the 2nd on black phantom(pure black tendency) but not all of them are hostile towards you so you should not atk them and i mean this on pure white, on pure black all of them are hostile and dangerous.

Quick question, is it worth it to go for 22 strength as a magic user (Royal) to use the Purple Flame shield effectively? Or is there another shield that would be better suited for the job? Aside from that, should I mainly focus on magic/intel and the occasional vitality?

Yes, it has 2nd best fire resistance and really good (2nd?) physical defense when fully powered. all the better shields will weigh atleast 2x more than it. it's good for pvp and heavy-armed regular enemies (bones, red knight)

i'd rather go with faith, for god's wrath, than vitality. warding/total protection should take care of your hit points all by itself.

So I just got yanked off my high horse just now..

NG+ has been easy as hell, then I decided to drop Shrine of Storms down to PB for moar souls at 4-4 (Flying Mantas). Then I tried backtracking from 4-3 to kill the BP Dual-Katana Skele, not fun.

So I tried starting from 4-1 to farm the other D-K Skele's and guess who was standing there ready to rape me? BP Satsuki.. bitch is KO'ing me in one hit. I think I'm gonna have to backtrack from 4-2 and use that first DK Skele's cliff to snipe him or something @_@

take the old hero archstone backwards, quickly kill the reaper.
get naked+thief ring, sneak up to bp skelly and soulsucker him. 100k souls in about 2 minutes after you get the timing down.

So I just got the game over Christmas and started out on the hunter class. The problem I keep running into is that I constantly run out of arrows midway through the very first place you go and have to keep returning to the Nexus to get more. Is there some way to retrieve your arrows after you shoot them or not? Also what kind of melee weapon is best for hunters? I've been using this battle axe I started with, but I'm not sure if any of these swords would be better as I have no idea what any of the lines and swirls mean at this point <_<
