Red Eye Skeles are easy.. just keep a couple of those Soul Remain things in your inv. Toss one, skele goes and attacks that and you can casually walk up behind and backstab then fuck it up as it tries to stand up.
... wow.
Yeah. That woulda bee nice to know.
I really hated 3-2 and world 5, not because they were necessarily hard, but because they were such ugly places with little room to move.
That shortcut makes getting that lizard easier too...haha. And if you get invaded they'll have no fucking idea where you are as the fogs will still be up.
To belkin: yeah you die in the tutorial, but the game really is supposed to be difficult. Yet I find it really fun when you actually succeed at the game. Right now i'm stuck on the 3-1, 2-2 AND 5-1 bosses.
Is there any way to enchant your weapon with something the 2-2 boss would be weak to? right now i hit him for 30's which is barely 1/60th his hp. I've gotten him down to half but if theres a more damaging effect I can use then that would pratically mean I've beat him before >.>
The best thing you can enchant your weapon with for Flamelurker is magic. Magic weapon or a magic based weapon are your best bet.
I actually did get back into it after reading some posts on here saying how good it was. After about an hour and a half of playing, I finally beat 1-1. Turns out the reason I kept dying in one hit is because I thought I had to fight the level 30 red eye lancer.
But in the end, I triumphed over the Phalanx. But now a few questions so I don't completely mess my shit up...
Is it better to upgrade weapons rather than to buy new ones? I have a Long Sword right now. Should I buy a better weapon or just upgrade the Long Sword? I'm having a difficult time deciphering what icon means "Damage" or "Attack" or whatever.
Is it important to keep my shield upgraded too? Will I need a bow eventually?
After 1-1, I used all of my souls (10,000ish) to upgrade my stats, instead of my equipment. Good idea or bad idea?
switch to purple flame shield when you can use it properly (if you got it, that is) and upgrade that instead. Weapons its all about what you are most comfortable with. There is a Dragon Sword +1 that you can find in 2-2 which lasted me well, I ended up upgrading that to +5. Right now I use Meat Cleaver, but it will probably be a little too heavy for you.
Like I've said to many people, there really isn't a 'BEST WEAPON IN THE GAME' as it comes down to preference really. Dragon Bone sword is strong, but very predictable in attack patterns and extremely heavy which will use a lot of stamina. Spears can be useful for keeping your distance from enemies and dealing damage.
You should get a bow eventually, doesn't really matter which, but some sort of ranged attack will help with the game a lot. I use Sticky Compound Longbow +5 as it is a very strong bow which has an S rank in DEX.
You can complete the game in starting armor easily really. Just equip whatever you think is best without going over the equip burden and so it doesn't compromise your rolling. The wiki is a BIG HELP for seeing what the Boss Demon's Souls will give you, so you can see which special weapons/spells/miracles you can get, or can use them for the souls instead.
I did the same Belkin, don't waste time upgrading that sword if you don't like the way it attacks, try out all of the swords as you get them and decide along the way. I ended up going with a Rapier.
Purple Flame Shield is where it's at defenswise, and I'd say it's more important to upgrade than your weapon (well I spam soul arrow so this is biased).
Run 1-1 a few more times to make sure you get all of the items there, and possibly a few levels. Cling Ring/Thief's Ring are definitely somethings you want to find.
Also, go 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 rather than finishing off the second levels of the worlds first. It's a lot easier.
Almost had this random nerd argue with me about this game at Gamestop when I was picking up Bayonetta about how great he was about this game. I mean I agree it's a well-made game but I'm not about to have a video game argument with a random stranger in a retail store.

I stuck with my free crescent falchion +1, that you get from the first optional black skelly in 4-1, for pretty much the entire game, its great because i'm a mage and it's attack power scales with magic.
also, i found 4-2 invisible laserbeam dudes to be very hard until i got the dark silver shield in 5-3, so i'd recommend doing 5-3 before 4-2.
i'd also suggest, at least 1 blue helper for 2-2(, also 1-3 if you don't save biorr).
The correct answer is to use Dragon Bone Smasher or Meat Cleaver (depending on how your stats are set up) if you want the highest damage weapon. (well or the weapon from 1-1 behind the red eyes guy, not going to spoil you'll see.)
As for me, I used a Battle Axe+6 for the longest time until I got my Dragon Bone Smasher, now I pretty much use the DBS for everything. I off hand the Purple flame shield but I'm using both of these with light armor so I can stay at full movement speed with these 2 items equipped. As for Pvp, I cheat, I use the Magical Sword Makoto to make people bleed then I switch back to the DBS, when they go to heal that's my chance to 1 shot them.
Do you shield block at all? I find it reduces the damage enough to deal with it, kill it, grass up, then run to the next one.
i've already beaten the game, i was just recalling the most difficult level for me. .. I had went 1-1 > 1-2 > 4-1 (for the refresh sword) and i was probably using adjudicator shield at the time. and blocking those with dark silver results in 0 dmg.
I suggest a shield/spear combo, it's one of the safest ways to play, since you can attack while still holding the shield up. However, the spear looses its appeal in terms of attack power later on.
I can agree with that, even though its low damage I still carry a spear just in case. Just don't be a douche who invades people with a Scraping Spear, god I hate those people.
