Which zone did you smack him in? He appears twice (2-1 & 2-2), and may not be aggressive in the other one.

I smacked him in 2-2 and when I zone in at the archstone in 2-1 he is aggressive

I even let him kill me but no dice, I should have unplugged after I hit him in hopes of it not saving

Ah well, at least it's not the storage guy or the black maiden

You can smack the black maiden as much as you want. Same for the monumental.

Can't recall if storage npc stays aggressive though since he's mortal, unlike the other two.

well, took care of my white tendency stuff, for the most part. didn't bother with world 5 stuff outside of istarelle; I'm not really that far in that world.

while we're at it, what's notable for black tendency? I plan on picking up ToB, any other goodies?

if so what do the further levels gain you?


none of my stats are any higher than 24 (INT in order to have 4 spell slots) but at level 66 I'm concerned I may not be able to max out something for a build I may want later on

can you re-spec so to speak at any point?

Only a few stats cap, such as stamina from endurance. However, you do witness diminishing returns, and after 40 any stat increases will only give small bonuses (ex. strength or magic may only boost your weapon damage by 1-2 points, compared to 7-8 when going from 9 -> 10). Eventually it'll take several level ups in one stat to raise your damage a single point. This is why hybrid builds start to shine in the upper 100s.

You may want to pick up a Guillotine axe from Miralda. It has pretty good damage for a 1 handed weapon, and has good upgrade paths. It also swings fast (about the same as scimitars) and every single hit counts as a direct hit with the master ring on, so you'll get a straight +15% damage increase with it when using the master ring. It also doesn't rebound off shields which is another plus, but it does suffer from a short range. You may also want to pick up the Phosphorescent pole which offers the best mp regen in the game when upgraded, and has decent damage. If you want the weapons trophy you should pick up the Blind too from the Selen black phantom, but it has almost no utility and has horrendous damage. The real reason why you want black tendency though is for colorless souls and better drop rates though.

Being Old Monk is alot easier than invading. As Old Monk, you can fight people who are in soul form instead of only being allowed to go against people in body form. You also have as much hp as if you yourself were in body form iirc.
As for colorless souls farming, you can get an infinite amount through 2 similar glitches. In 4-2 at the crow, if you drop either a talisman of god or a gold mask and reload there will be a colorless soul on the ground. Now if you drop a black eye stone, you'll get the message "Invading" 3 times followed by "Moving to another world as a black phantom". If you wait until the third time "Moving to another world as a black phantom" message appears, then pick up the colorless soul, when you move back to your world there will be another colorless soul on the ground. You can do this an infinite amount of times, but you have to make sure that you either die to the person who you invaded or suicide. If you die by suicide though you'll lose a level, and if you kill the person you invaded then you'll resurrect and it won't work. You can repeat this however many times you like for an infinite amount of colorless souls. You can also do the same thing with primeval demons by killing them as soon as the second "moving to another world as a black phantom" message comes up then picking up the soul.

yeah, and howie, as explained to me earlier, killing the real/body form of someone doesn't remove their black phantom. so you can kill satsuki and still go back for gripless from his black phantom.

I have an equipment question. I got the purple flame shield a while back and even though my endurance is now fairly high, I am still unable to equip the shield. How do I check how much more equipment burden I need to be able to equip it?

In your menu, go to the body icon. This is where all your stats are in one place. You should see two burdens. Item burden is how much you can carry and equip burden is how much you can equip.

If, however, you can equip it but it says your stats aren't high enough to use it effectively, it may be your strength that is too low. In that case, go to your item menu and push Square (I think) on the shield to see what stats are required for it.

The only stats that determine whether or not your too low to equip something are Str/Dex/Magic/Faith, you need 22 str to equip the purple flame shield.

No dragons there in WWT.

So I accidently consumed the 1-2 Tower Knight Soul before I gave it to Sage Freke. Am I screwed? Or is it possible to finish the game without it?
