So I beat that damn dragon in 1-2. used like 400 arrows and the bastard dropped some dragon soul which I'm assuming can be used for weapons or magic. I started off as a soldier and have just been rolling with a broad sword and have been slowly upgrading it to quality broadsword +2. The next one is +3 but I can't find any damn clear stones. I'll wiki it later I guess.

Any recommendations on either upgrading my current broadsword to be badass or picking up a new weapon that handles similar?

Since it sounds like you're doing your first character, I'd suggest completing 2-1 if you haven't then look around the Bugbear caverns in 2-2 for the Dragon Longsword +1, dragon weapons are amazing powerful on anything pre-NG (and stuff in world 2).

Yeah they do, but the dragon longsword rocks. I used a Dragon Mirdan hammer +5 all the way to NG, and even now I have a hard time giving it up (I made a North Regalia Build).

This is your lucky day, masochists! Atlus has announced that it will extend support for Demon's Souls' online servers until "at least" March 2011. When the game shipped in April 2009, the Demon's Souls user agreement made it clear that online functionality would be sponsored for "no less than six months". Now it would appear that the game's surprising success has led Atlus to extend that commitment significantly.

In celebration, Atlus is flipping the Demon's Souls World Tendency to Pure White, which will knock the controller-snapping difficulty down a few notches. The change should last for "a couple weeks," just long enough to lull newcomers into a false sense of security.

To celebrate the announcement, the game server's World Tendency, a variable that can make the game more or less difficult and unlock secrets depending on its setting, will be shifted to Pure White for a couple weeks, making the notoriously challenging game slightly easier for newcomers while also allowing long-time veterans to reach otherwise inaccessible areas and items.

Demon's Souls is the little train that could. It wouldn't surprise me honestly. And even if not, it gives the less committed players a long time to get their fix before the servers do actually get shut down.

At least in Demon's case, the online complements the game itself, but it's not required to 100% the game thank god, unlike a lot of other games that get server support cut off....

Atlus is being really weird about Demon's Souls. Is like they KNOW everyone who played it loved it, but they still think they cant/didnt/wont make any money off of it. At least thats the way I see it from all their messages.

I know for sure if they released a DLC for that broken portal, tons of people will buy it. And if they make a #2 then tons of people will buy that.

Just started playing Demon's Souls yesterday after waiting patiently and being disappointed by FFXIV beta... made it through the first stage and found it to be very fun and challenging. I liked how you had to travel through the whole level without dying but then at the end you can open a gate which leads directly to the boss so you don't have to worry about dying and having to go through the entire level all over again. Also I think the progression system is pretty unique, I just wish there was an easier way for me to tell if i can or cannot equip a piece of armor or a weapon... but I could be overlooking something obvious.

The icons are different than you would see in normal games. So you kinda have to check if its Male/Female first, then if your stats match the stat requirements of the armor. I still dont remember which is which so when something says it requires a certain stat, I have to check my status and match up the symbol lol
