So I saw this is 30$ free shipping from Gamestop and wanted to read up on it, but I don't know if I can handle reading 60 pages on it.

So I get that it's like, crazy hard and all that. And that it's an RPG. Would you recommend buying it now? Is it more like western RPGs like Fallout, because I've never really played anything along those lines- always more JRPGs.

I enjoyed 3D Dot Game Heroes which was also Atlus (they even reference DS).

Would the game be enjoyable even if you don't touch the online bits too much? I enjoyed WKC and dabbled in online bits, but wasn't too impressed. I also have a brother who I let play games when I'm at work (he does great work re:grinding).

question: I ordered this game a couple of days ago from the UK, should arrive in a couple more (yay for temporarily living in france not speaking jack french), and the online aspect confused me a little. From what I read previously, the online deal seemed to be an all or nothing thing, if you went online, you went online for all of it, including invasions by black phantoms etc (which isn't very tempting when I want to,at least initially, go for an all white world), but from your phrasing, it sounds like you can have just parts of the online experience? Is there some menu function in the game that let's you adjust what elements of the online play you want?

If you want to go for an all white world tendancy then actually killing black phantom invaders is the fastest way. However if you want the rest of the online gameplay without the invasions then you need to stay as a soul which means killing yourself in the nexus everytime you get your body back.

Being in soul form I find is helpful. Forces you to be more careful with how you pick your fights due to the halved HP (well, more if you got the Cling ring), and enemies have a hard time detecting you as well. No worries about world tendency turning dark also if you die in soul form.

aren't you incredibly squishy without armor etc from your body though?

Your max hp is reduced but there is a ring that raises that so its not so bad. Also you do more damage in soul form.

One piece of advice I can say is, memorize the status icons as soon as possible, or else this'll happen to you come stat comparisons.

You can play the game in Offline Mode by turning off your PS3s internet connection. This is the best way to manipulate World Tendencies (Tendency is like alignment, both your character and each world has its own tendency, ranging from Pure White to Pure Black), especially right now since all worlds are on auto-Pure White Tendency

Hate to bump this topic but I wanna put this game away for good and was wondering if anyone was around level 100-120 and could let me hold a +5 Sharp weapon and a +5 Dark shield. Don't really have the time to grind for drops.

If you need anything, just ask and I'll let you know if I have it or not.

I'm in the process of making a Sharp Shotel +5 and a Dark Purple Flame Shield +5. I've got +4 on both. Farming the chunks of cloudstone is taking forever though, and I get usually 1 drop over 5 runs of 4-3 (using Large Sword of Searching and Wanderer's starting luck, on my 4th run through the game). I'm still missing 5 chunks of cloudstone. Bladestone has been more successful on the chunks since the Black Phantom Dual Katana Black Skeleton (longass name, fuck) drops them pretty decently, but that Pure Bladestone. Fuck. 5 hours I farmed and still nothing. I'm gonna try again tomorrow probably, maybe tonight. If I get it, I want to trade for a +5 Moonlightstone weapon, because I still have not run into a pure ore yet.

Of the ore trophies, I'm still missing Bladestone, Cloudstone, Marrowstone (haven't even started this one but I have lots of ores, not enough for the full upgrade I think though), Greystone and Moonlightstone (not even started). Mostly I just need chunks, why are chunks so hard to get -_-

Edit: My character is SL 155, but according to my calculations, I should be able to play with someone SL 130-180, so if you can get up there (which is very easy if you have the Ring of Avarice, Pure Black World Tendency and go to 4-2, just do the run on the Reaper and Dual Katana Black Skeleton, its an easy bunch of souls gained)

Yeah I have no problem leveling up. I have a shit ton of Hero souls too. Let me know when you get the Sharp and Cloudstone stuff and I'll give you whatever chunks I have leftover for the other stuff.

I just picked up a Pure Bladestone a few minutes ago. Farming the black skeletons with Soulsucker made me SL 168 lol. I'm also 3 chunks away from a maxed out Cloudstone shield; just picked up two chunks over the last two runs of 4-3. Hopefully I'll have them soon.

Level range currently starts at 142 for me now ((168/10)+10)
