Apparently you don't play in HD, shit looks fine it's just those are super zoomed in.

I did play in HD, and the detail and environmental effect were fine -- if it was 2005. :/
It looked decent for the resources From Software was alotted but it definitely doesn't match up graphically to those posted screenshots, and definitely not against other single player games released at the time.
Well compared to the OP screen shots... that's exactly what my game looks like. meh
Just look at the background. The textures and stuff. This is exactly how the game looks pretty much.
i'm not so concerned with pvp yet (probably NG+ i'll start to get more into it), but good to hear about the weapons, i've still got the mace you pick up near the CL but i was working on a knight's sword, but since i've only got a blessed sword+1 i suppose i'll change, the axe sounds pretty awesome.
any tips on getting faintstone though? aside from the CL in 5-1 i don't really know where to get it (that's not a static corpse), but i've only gotten a little ways into 5-2 so far and i'm hoping it'll show up a bit more in there.
edit: as for armor/shield what would you recommend? i'm wearing biorr's stuff only because it's so badass looking (appears to have real nice defense stats anyway), i haven't come across anything else that looks like it would fit a melee-oriented build, lots of cloth and sage's stuff etc
I wouldn't roll with maces or a morning star, and instead would tack on blessed great axe+5 to that list. The thing is an absolute monster with the 3 hit combo which is pretty good at stun locking, and the AoE roll attack is also great. Unfortunately it has a huge faintstone requirement, but I'd say it's should be the first blessed weapon you should upgrade after the halberd/hammer. For faintstones, pure stones are easy to get because one of Urbain's follower in the Nexus gives you 1 for free every playthrough, and shards are easy as well because you can just go to 4-2 and farm souls and then go buy a bunch of shard from the npc for 10k a pop. Chunks are pretty annoying though, because there are only 2 geckos that drop them instead of 3 like moon/darkmoon stones, so make sure you go back to PBWT after you pick up the Istarelle so you can get 2 chunks per gecko instead of only 1. The BP in the swamp drops 3 as well, and you can also find one in a room above the hallway to the Dirty Colossus. Shamans also drop them but have a terrible drop rate, so I wouldn't bother with those unless you're 1 chunk shy of an upgrade since you could probably go through a new game faster than it would take to get 2+ chunks off of them.
Mace and Morning Star are good weapons for PVE, in my opinion. I don't know about great axes since I never used them.
http://www.kotaku.com/5657675/demons...--white-affairAtlus USA is celebrating one year of Demon's Souls today—the
"biggest success" in the publisher's two decade history—giving
devotees of the dark, dismal role-playing game a pair of World
Tendency events to enjoy and/or suffer through.
Starting today, Demon's Souls first birthday in North America, the
Kingdom of Boletaria is going "pure white," which players of the
PlayStation 3 game know is a nicer change of pace. That lasts until
October 18, Atlus says, when the game's world switches to "pure
black" for the rest of the month, ending on Halloween.
Demon's Souls recently became a PlayStation 3 Greatest Hits
release, meaning those of you out there who haven't enjoyed
getting your ass kicked by Maneater(s) can do so on the cheap.
When Namco Bandai finally releases the game's successor, currently
known as Project Dark, you're going to wish you had the practice.
Trust me.
Best image ever?
It certainly is up there.
Just need pure white character tendency to get platinum on this, too bad i'm at about the second blackest character tendency there is, at level 190 (hard to find multiplayer blue phantom chances)
sigh![]()
Killing BP Miralda, Scirvir, Satsuki, Rydell or Selen Vinland will increase your character tendency by 1 for each BP killed. However you have to actually land the final blow, that means no Poison Cloud, fall damage kill or Soulsucker.
Not as fast as just killing BP players but beggars can't be choosers
In under an hour speed run
Holy shit I didn't know you could do 4-1 that fast, or go through the 3-1 arrow bridge that way <_<
I knew some of those tricks but god damn that vid showed me a lot of new shortcuts too. And that Maneater fight was so ballsy. However, skipping the lava portion of Stonefang using the Water Veil spell was genious. Good show
Im really torn about what to go towards. I have a DBS and flame shield etc (Just started the game again) and I'm getting to that point where I need to decide what to lean towards, magic or melee. I started royal and soul arrow seems to work fine and all, But does that lose its effectiveness later on (I'm at around 55-60 SL ) and leave me needing to switch it up?
You get reduced returns past 40 on all stats, with going past 50 to be said as 'simply not worth it'. Once I hit 50 on DEX/END for my Dex build, 50 MAG/40 INT for my Magic build and 50 FTH for my Faith Build, I started working on other stats.
Some effects cap out too, like spell slots which don't go past 5 iirc, or stamina which doesn't increase after 40 endurance.
If you're really only going to be doing PvE, I'd probably lean towards magic, since you can destroy pretty much anything with homing soul arrow / fire storm, or even weaker spells like soul arrow if you deck out your magic power through kris+5 blade, magical sharpness ring, etc. In PvP, magic builds are extremely hard to pull off and really the only strategy I've seen work consistently online is fire storm rushing or using a storm ruler to knock someone down then using fire storm; spells are just too easy to dodge to be good online.
I have a question about difficulty. How long high up does it actually go? I know it takes 4 completions of the game to have everything, but can you "play" past that? Into NG++++ and beyond
