NHL Season 08-09

They are definitely a much different team than earlier in the year. They played terrible in the defensive style that their coach was forcing on them, they're much more comfortable playing the way they are now. To be honest, I think that Detroit smells blood, they've had 2 full days of rest and preparation, and they've got a TON of veteran experience that's going to propel them to a win in Game 6. I do think the Pens will put up a fight though, they won't go limping into the offseason.

Yeah Bylsma's system is a much much better fit for them in comparison to Therrien's. It's also makes for a better game against Detroit in the long run. Now hopefully we get this series back to Detroit for one more. I think tonight the Pens are going to play like their hair is on fire. They don't want that cup being won in their barn again.

I'm biased towards Eddie O, mostly because he's part of the Blackhawks tv team and him and Pat Foley really do a nice job. The rest of VS announcers though suck balls. In a perfect world, ESPN would get the rights back to the NHL and we wouldn't have to deal with NBC/VS. We wouldn't have to deal with certain markets not getting to see the games because their cable provider doesn't carry VS. And, we'd hopefully have a return of NHL 2 Nite.

Edit: Gary Thorne and Bill Clement also, because no one tops that announcing duo!

Yeah Eddie is the only one I like. On a side note, should the season come to an end tonight or on Friday I just wanted to say it has been a pleasure talking hockey with all of you. Too bad it has to end and isn't a year round sport lol. This is the first thread I check when I get up and get moving online. It's usually the last one I check before I leave work. Whether it be from Abraxas's evil Philly opinions to Sepukku's insane ramblings, it's always been a blast reading this thread. My brother got my hopes all excited calling me to tell me that we trade Huet to the Islanders for 4 prospects to make cap room for both Havlat and Khabi. I come home only to see that we did indeed sign 4 prospects to entry level deals....but Huet is still a Blackhawk for now. Damn brother!

Very good first period for Pitt both offensively and defensively. Detroit has basically been shut down as far as getting it into the zone and getting shots off. Detroit has been playing pretty poorly on the offensive end but I feel that they are pretty sharp defensively. Good game so far.

Detroit was having issues getting it going offensively, but I think that was Detroit's gameplan to play very defensively in the first period when the Pens will have their biggest push from the crowd. I'd bet they'll play much better as the game goes on.

Terrible game by Detroit through 2 periods, 2 easy penalties to call that should have as well, but oh well. Very poor play by Samuelsson that allowed the 2nd goal as well.

Pens came out and played a full game and won because of it.

The Mike Merrick call team is so wishy washy it's retarded. Now I'm understand that on a national/global scale the commentary should be neutral but some of the stupid shit the whole says is just that fucking stupid. I think they should draw straws at the start of a game to avoid contradiction 20 seconds between statements. I've even listened to Pittsburgh local radio and Detroit local radio to hear Edzo and Pierre contradict themselves to boost hype. Sit down, shut up, let the game hype itself please.

I don't see the Pens pulling up the serious upset at the Joe, game 5 being an unfortunate testament.

Fucking Petr Sykora just showed he has more heart this game than most of our team. And he was benched for more than half of the playoffs, where you at Miro? Where you at Ruslan? Fucking overpaid dipshits.

Hmmm....can't see what you're saying there, they swing back and forth fellating both teams pretty heavily.

Last night's game was pretty exciting, lots of chances for Detroit to win, but in the end the Pens came away with a hard fought victory. I'm excited to see what happens in Game 7.

I thought the Interference call on Zetterburg was pretty crappy, and it goes further to swing my opinion in the direction that the officials go out of their way to give the team that down in a game/series, every advantage they can to come back.
