I will only be happy with him back if he takes a Franzen level deal or lower. More than that and it just limits what we have to fill in other spots. I think Hudler/Samuelsson/replacement for less than what he gets alone is better for the team, depth always seems better than a frontloaded team.

edit: I appreciate the irony, moreso since he was in a position to be a difference maker in the series, which could have meant him skating around the Joe with the cup.

There were rumors that Edmonton was planning/already offered him a huge deal for next season, don't know if there's any truth to it. I can't imagine he'd want to go to a team that didn't get into the playoffs this year since he's wanting the cup, but who knows. It'll be interesting in the off-season for sure to see where he ends up.

I'm surprised there's so many penguins fans in the NHL thread, but almost none for the NFL.

I've always hated the Steelers but loved the Pens. It baffles people who know me, but it shouldn't, considering none of the teams I follow are from the same city.

I'm just not a fan of football for personal reasons, that I'd be glad to share with you if you care lol. I watch the Steelers, but I'm indifferent towards them. Didn't watch the Super Bowl this year, though. Think I was playing Left 4 Dead!

Oh, it's not a big deal, I just think it's a bit of an anomaly seeing how the steelers have arguably the biggest fanbase out of any NFL team, and there's more pens fans than steelers fans on the boards. Not calling anyone out.

Steelers fans are fucking annoying lol. I used to live in Pittsburgh and they used to drive me nuts.

Though Red Sox fans, of all fans I've encountered, are the worst to be around.

Second best thing for me- if you're going to lose in the post-season, knowing you lost to the best isn't bad at all. They got tested every step of the way to the top and were not found wanting.

No offense to most of the Pens fans on this board, since you seem to fit outside of the stereotypes. Pens fans are generally insufferable in my encounters with them. Red Sox as well, though they are dying down right now it seems.

Then again I'm sure whatever team the NHL marketed similarly to the Pens would attract a similar fanbase in addition to what it has now.

Me too, but unfortunately that's the Pittsburgh mentality. Even if the Pirates some how became the Series' winners you'll find asshat bandwagoners, even for a team that's bordering the worst franchise ever, showing up and throwing beers. It's one of the side effects of being a sports team and not having much else to show.

Even though I'm besides myself with joy over the cup win, yall trying to stifle my excitement with Bettman jokes still hits me. fuck off with that shit the wings had more power plays than we did. (Yes I know that's mainly from Game 5, still fuck off with that he's a dick and a criminal and everyone knows it, don't ruin this for me.)

I didn't mean to say that Bettman had a hand in the officiating, overall it made a very small difference in the series if at all. The Wings beat themselves by not playing hard for enough time, while the Penguins had much more intensity outside of game 5. I just meant that he seemed to have an interest in the Penguins winning, which is of course logical given that they've been chosen as the NHL's "model franchise" and poster-team because of Crosby's presence.

Grats on the win once again, your team earned it in the finals.

Having to wait 17 years since i watched Mario carry the cup for a second straight year was intense. I think i almost had a heart attack when Detroit finally scored. Was on the edge of my seat, crossing my fingers, wearing lucky socks, not moving my drink, and all that other stuff, for what seemed the longest 8 minutes of my life.

Hossa's only regret should be not showing up in the finals at all. I'll admit i was pissed when he chose Detroit, for the simple fact that Crosby needs a winger that can put the puck in the net 40 times. Crosby is not a goal scorer, he's the classic 30g 100a guy.

To be honest, if Malkin did what he did last year and not show up at all, then Hossa would have made the correct decision.

Congratulations to Pittsburgh, it just sucks that I can't troll Pens fans and call your golden boy fun names anymore. Well, I could, but you can just point to Ivaden's new avatar. Pens played a hell of a series and convinced me that they are in fact the best team in the league, no sour grapes from me.

Hell of a series. Not having anything personally invested in either team, I was pretty happy to see the Pens walk away with it this year. Gotta' share the love, ya know. :D

Allright Bettman, your posterchild Crosby finally won a cup and he hopefully can stop crying. Now its time for you and your group of lackeys to step down and let someone who knows how to run the league take over.

Between Malkins 'automatic' game 3 suspension being annuled because he's a big game player, between the stanley cup finals schedule being altered just because it benefits the younger Penguins, between you still trying to force a market for hockey in places that dont even have ice and are losing 100 million dollars per year easily, your initial bastardization for the game (how many people here even remember the Wales and Campbell conferences?), and your clear cut hypocrizy ("we dont run out on cities" in reference to Phoenix, after the Phoenix Coyotes were created with the running of the Jets out of Winnipeg), your time is up.

Congrats to all Pens fans. I had personal reasons for not wanting them to win (dislike Crosby even though he's an awesome player, and Satan being an ex-Sabre who did nothing for my team), but other than that, I'm happy to see Malkin get it and get the Conn Smythe. He definitely earned it. He parents must be really proud.

And Fleury was incredible last night. Please refer to my post at the beginning of this final that said Fleury would be the key. I was right for once. =)

Don't forget how he conveniently changed the no foot in the crease rule after Brett Hull scored on the Sabres in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 99. FUCK YOU GARY!
