I have got to say I'm shocked at Dale Tallon's moves today.....didn't see Hossa coming ever. Havlat will only resign if it's a one year deal which I hope he does. We're going to try to dump Huet and Campbell eventually, hopefully sooner than later.

Montreal just massively overpaid for Spacek: 3 Years / $11.5m

Apparently the Oilers have signed Khabibulin. No terms announced yet. I'm hoping it's not for the near $6m he made last year.

Edit: Bulin Wall is 4 yrs $15m

Apparently the Oilers just signed Chris Neil. Toronto was offering 3 year (Burke, stop with the goons. First May, then Orr, now going for Neil) and Edmonton offered a 4 year deal. Nothing confirmed though, just heard it on TSN.
So I guess we do have an Ex-Sen coming to Oil Country. See Brill, it's not so bad. LOL

Gill to Montreal. He seems like a class act person, but good riddance as a player.

Bringing in Mike Rupp makes me think Talbot is going to be a permanent fixture on the second line with Malkin.

Cammalleri went to the Habs for 5 years / $30 million.

Was nice having him for one year, too bad we kind of wasted it.

McPhee says Knuble will skate on the top line with Ovechkin and Backstrom... I like it as much as you can like a 37-year-old power forward, but at two years/$5.6M? McPhee also said that was about all the cap room he had to play with, so no help at defense or center is coming I guess.

Bulin signing surprised me a lot. Edmonton just picked up a great goalie for a great price, even with his age. And as a Flames fan (Bulin always plays great against Calgary), I'm pretty against this signing >_>

Montreal is looking like they might be scary this season. Picked up Cammalleri and Gionta.

Havlat to Minnesota is a couple years too late. Gaborik needed someone like him to play with for a long time, and now they lose Gaborik to bring in Havlat? They should've given Gaborik someone to skate with before he was gone. Not that it would've mattered much, while Lemaire was there they were called the Mild for a reason.
Heatley finally gave the thumbs down to Edmonton, even after meeting with the front office staff. What's lame is it wasted a day when Edmonton could've been making pitches to other players. Getting rejected mind you, but at least making an effort.

Montreal is looking pretty good now. It'll be sad to see Saku go, but if he wants to end his career with his little bro, or maybe with his fellow Finn in Anaheim, that's cool.
Kovalev... I'll half miss him, on some game nights when I feel like it.
Gonna be weird seeing Gill in a Habs uni though, especially after he's played in Boston and Toronto, which are like Montreal's biggest rivals.
Komisarek in a Leafs jersey is gonna burn my eyes though.

    in the words of JD

    WHOA BABY!!!

I'll go back to this later. In short I don't like the Brashear signing AT ALL. But I'm cautiously optimistic, and excited by the Gaborik signing

I do not like the Gaborik signing. Don't get me wrong. The guy is a major offensive weapon. But he's far too fragile. The Rangers lost Colton Orr, so that deterrent is now gone(even though Orr isn't exactly the greatest fighter.) So the question is who is left to protect him. If the Rangers are able to re-sign Nik Antropov, their first line would actually pretty good. The reason I don't like the deal is taking the risk on signing him to a five year contract.

I really had a feeling that Montreal was going to take a run at Cammelleri. They have made some big strides to make themselves better. Losing Higgins and Komisarek hurts in the short run, but in the end it makes the Habs a better team. Losing Gill made me laugh my ass off this morning when I heard about it. No longer will I have to watch Gill get outraced to pucks when he's only ten feet away. No more! He's your problem now Montreal. Enjoy those awesome outlet passes he makes off the boards that go right to the opposing team's forwards.

First off Orr is one of the best fighters in the game, behind of course, Brashear, who even though I hate with a passion is a major deterrent for the opposition. Secondly, the Gaborik signing, just idk. He's an incredible player (his 5 goal stomping of the Rangers a few years ago still burns in my head), but hes injury prone, even though the Rangers do have one of the best trainers in the NHL. Personally, I'd rather have the Rangers for now chill out on the FA market re-sign important younger guys and throw wheelbarrows of cash at Kovalchuk in 2010.

Looks like Montreal finally realized they CAN have more than one or two guys that aren't French on their team.

    Wow at all those pickups.

I like the Bluejackets' pickups yesterday. Sami Pauhlson is a good upgrade from Manny Malhotra on the 3rd line, and Garon will give us a solid backup so we don't have to ride the heck out of Mason.

Negotiations with Rick Nash have begun, he declined the first offer but his agent said they will counter today and expect a deal to be done within a week.

flyers picked Boucher and Ian Laperriere.

and holy shit at Montreal. how they can afford all these players is beyond me..... they seem like the rangers.

oh and the rangers, pretty dumb to sign Gaborik to that much. as its been said he's an injury machine.
