3 Words for you Oxy. Tax Free Money.

And it was 2.5 mil for 2 seasons, how would you like to go somewhere else, make 5 mil, tax free and then come back haha. I say that Detroit just lets him go and make Dynamo pay the rest of his contract to the Wings.

    LOL Brill
I was gonna bust out "Red Light" Racicot, but that gives me bad flashbacks of my first ever NHL game I went to.
Oilers/Habs when we first moved here. I was all pumped up, 12 years old and all excited to see Patrick Roy. Patrick got hurt previously, so he wasn't good to go.
5 minutes into the game, it's already 3-0 Oilers on 4 shots. Good job Andre.
So they reach deep into their netminding charts and replace Racicot with some shlub named Les Kuntar. Montreal gets within a couple goals in the 3rd period and Oleg Petrov (lol) is on a breakaway. Whistle goes, as back in their own zone Donald Brashear is in a fight.
I learned to hate so many players that day.
    Sorry for the derail. >.<

Can I get a Tommy Salo?

Man, as a Rangers fan, with a Swedish Goalie currently the backbone of the franchise... Best believe I shuddered watching the Olympics

    Good point Arn

Tommy Salo rocked. Remember Eric Fichaud from the Islanders? Fucking Oleg Petrov, holy shit. We're digging deep here. I still have an Adam Deadmarsh Avalanche jersey. Beat that.

Tommy Salo rocked until in the Olympics his team got knocked out by Belarus because a puck went his head/neck area for the GWG late in the game. He fell to shit after that.

Other thing Tommy Salo rocked at...Getting his ASS ROCKED by DAN CLOUTIER!!!

Wow, lotsa Oilers mentioned there. Moog, Fichaud (I swear we had his rights for like 3 minutes.)
    Bill Ranford
    Peter Ing
    Pokey fucking Reddick
    Felix Potvin? lol

    Montreal signed Mara... yay?
I lost respect for him though when he spat on Darcy Tucker when Tucker was traded out of Tampa. I swear looking at who Montreal has let slip away, and what they're bringing in to replace those D-men, the club is secretly being run by Milbury.

In the paper they had an article on a new Oilers prospect named Rajala. At the under-18 tourney he set a record with 19 points in 6 games, then kinda fazed out at the World Jrs. But he's listed at 5'8" - 160 pounds which is being generous.
    My Dad's response was great.
"Oh good, the Oilers are bringing in more garden gnomes!"

They need to bring in a few more to catch up to the team of midgets the Canadiens have now assembled.

He was a big body that clogged up the lanes on the penalty kill. In the minors we have a kid named Ben Lovejoy who has essentially been groomed for the last three years to be another Scuderi like defenseman. He's a little more mobile and has a bit more offensive upside. I'm not sure we could actually find a true replacement for Scuds. Supposedly the Pens are inquiring about Jay McKee filling up a slot. Losing Scuderi hurts us more than losing Gill imo.
Announced today that we signed McKee for a one-year deal.

Anyway I agree with everything about losing Gill and Scuderi. Fleury said it best when he talked about those two, saying that "Maybe the people who don't play hockey don't understand just how good those two are for us." A lot of people think Scuderi and Gill are easily replaceable, and while they are more or less because defensive defensemen aren't uncommon, at the time of losing them we really didn't have anyone else as reliable as them in the defensive zone. Scuderi was reliable at shutting down his man and blocking shots, and Gill was reliable at causing some interference and turning over the puck with slow passes. Orpik and Eaton are good, but Orpik can make some pretty boneheaded defensive plays.

Orpik is still prone to mental gaffes. Eaton is the more solid of the two because when he does hit people he's not taking himself out of the play to do so. Orpik still does that from time to time. McKee is a good addition and he brings some size to replace Gill, though he's still a bit smaller. He's a damn good shot blocker though. Not quite sure if he's on Scuderi's level, but he's definitely good. The only sizeable defenseman we have in the minors is Joey Mormina at 6'6". But he's also 27 years old, so let's face it, he's going to be another Alain Nasreddine. He may play from time to time for us, but he's mostly around to be a presence for the baby Pens. The strange thing is most people seem to think the Pens blueline is a smaller sized corps. The only guy under six feet tall is Goligoski. So we're at least decent sized back there.

I still don't see how people are picturing this as people fleeing Detroit, lol. Everyone with common sense could see that they didn't have the money to keep Hossa, who was brought in at the beginning of last season as a rental, and when he signed no one thought he would be able to stay more than 1 year. Nobody cares about Kopecky, the most notable thing he did last season was get in a fight during the playoffs and sustain a facial injury that kept him out of the rest of the games, leaving room for better players from Grand Rapids to come up. Samuelsson is getting old and will only hurt the Wings if the people chosen to replace him on the point of the second PP unit have an even more inaccurate shot. Hudler would be missed as will Conklin, although the former may not be gone as the NHL has stated that since he went into salary arbitration he has an obligation to Detroit, etc etc.

In other news, Hedman making $11.25 mil over 3 years out of the draft.
