Big win for the Pens today. Its the Isles, but every game is big now.
Rangers lose in a shootout.
Detroit handles the Sharks. Rough stuff. After the clips I've seen of that game and the 6-5 game a month ago, I can't wait to see a potential SJ-DET Western confrence final.
I didn't watch all of the Rangers game (had to catch up on Top Chef). But I liked what I saw. Everyone knows they lack top-end scoring talent, but they had great hustle and energy tonight...And Redden actually showed up...first time in months
I'm just wondering who the fuck kidnapped Eaton, hid him, and is wearing his jersey. He's been doing damn good under Bylsma's new system. Highly impressed with him lately. And even though it's only been a few games, I really want Bylsma to be given the position long term, I like what this team has become with him behind the bench.
3 big games tonight
Edm VS blue jackets
Buffalo Vs Carolina
Florida Vs Rangers
3 games that can change alot of stuff for the upcomming playoffs.
As for Tomorrow Habs game is also important, not just to class them but mostly because there's alot of chance of them facing up the flyers in the first round this year.
I think the biggest game tonight is actually COL-NJ... Brodeur's return.
Pittsburgh sent Whitney to Anaheim VS Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi.
Just read about it. As much as the Pens have an overabundance in defensemen this makes me sad. Just seeing another Baby Pen make it to the bigs and then stay for a long time only to get traded. Call me a homer if you will.
Pens trade defenseman Ryan Whitney to Anaheim - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
I don't agree with the trade to be blunt. I think Kunitz is a talented player for sure, but he's not the most durable player. I know nothing about Tangradi, though it looks like he's putting up alright numbers in the OHL. Not that that is at all any indicator of how he will do in the NHL.The Penguins have traded defenseman Ryan Whitney to the Anaheim Ducks for winger Chris Kunitz and Chris Tangradi.
Whitney, 26, left the Penguins Wednesday to attend to a family emergency. He was in the second year of a six-year contract that totaled $24 million — a $4 million per year cap hit.
Kunitz, 29, is a 6-foot left-handed shot who has scored 81 goals in parts of four NHL seasons with Anaheim and Atlanta. He has 16 goals and 35 points in 62 games this season. He is signed through 2011-12 at a cap hit of $3.725 million.
Tangradi is a 20-year-old pound forward born in Philadelphia. Ther 6-3 left-handed shot was the 42nd player taken in the 2007 draft. He has 38 goals, 87 points and 57 penalty minutexs in 52 games with Belleville of the OHL.
The Penguins have placed forward Chris Minard on waivers to make room on the roster for Kunitz.
So long Whits we'll miss you.
I'm pretty sure Tangradi is a Malone/Roberts type player, which, to be honest, is what this team needs right now. I'll wait to see Kunitz play to make any judgment on him, but he does have a Stanley Cup under his belt, which I think is some much needed experience in that locker room. Unfortunately, the trade didn't free up much cap space either, but I think it was a necessary move. Whitney's performance has been subpar lately and hopefully this makes Goligoski a permanent fix in the roster.
It'S the time of the week where RDS.Ca publish the current rumors are trades!
Rumor #1 Nicklas Backstrom from the Wild might be traded before the limit date if him and the Wild doesn't get to a new contract agreement.
Backstrom: I did not talk to my agent, but atm i wanna focus most on helping the team.
Rumor #2 Martin spy the flyers
Jay Bowmeister name is back on the surface again since Jacques MArtin was at the game Flyers Vs Kings yesterday
names of Joffrey Lupul, Matt Carle and Braydon Coburn, would be in the discussion, Martin should still be in Philadelphia to watch the game vs the habs friday, to help him in his choice.
Rumor #3 Lethonen could change teams too, DG of the trashers would like to sign lethonen again, but they are basing their hopes on the AHL player Ondrej Pavelec
Rumor #4 Kaberle price, Lots of team seems to be interested in Thomas Kaberle from the Maple Leafs.
But Brian Burk says this if you want a chance at Kaberle here is what you need to follow
1) first Round draft choice
2) a player that will help the leafs now
3) a promising future player
Last Rumor Olli Jokinen is free
Olii Jokinen and the coyotes, decided that it would be better for both team if they make a trade, only need to see if it will be before march 4 or after july first
I can't make heads or tails of this from a Penguins perspective. I see why Anaheim did it, with them trying to scale back payroll and losing Pronger and/or Neidermayer via trade and potentially Neid's retirement, they need a new offensive D.
But the Pens............... hmmmm. After Fedo/Satan, I'm not expecting anything from Kunitz. Coincidentally, I do have him on my NHL09 Pens Franchise.
Olli Jokinen to anywhere on earth for draft picks would be smart for Phoenix on financial and team development standpoints.
I expected a bit more of a return for Whitney to be honest. This season has been rough for him and last season he was injured. But before then, he was absolutely lights out playing fantastic hockey. I saw the headline on my page and saw Whitney traded to Anaheim and I was like OH GOD PLEASE BE FOR COREY PERRY!!! No luck for me ; ;
Teemu Selanne would've been nice... I know hes great and all, but hes winding down his career, hes retiring soon likely, this year or next probably, so it'd almost be like a .5-1.5 season rental...
Ugh I would be punching midgets if we traded for Selanne. He's still a good player but it would be a complete and total waste. He's a year from retirement at best and his skills are slowly declining. Not that any team wouldn't jump at the chance to get him for a low price, Whitney for Selanne straight up would be insanely stupid.
Hes still got quite a knack for scoring goals. Ryan Whitney has a knack for pissing me off.
Olli Jokinen to the Bluejackets, I'm calling it now. I have no basis for thinking this other than the GM saying we need an "Olli Jokinen" type player.
I would love that. I got Olli and Steve Mason on my FHL team and I'm a big fan of Columbus.
How many years Olli got on his contract? Shouldn't be trading for rentals just to make a playoff appearance, I say only go for him if he'll be around another couple seasons.
Yeah, that's another thing our GM said, that he's not going to go just for rentals. If he's going to give up something, he wants people who are going to stick around. I'm pretty sure Olli's got a few years left since he just signed with Phoenix. But it could have been a one year deal, I don't remember and at the moment I'm too lazy to look it up.
Okkinen is Free agent by july first
