Comcast FSN is out, woohoo.
Comcast FSN is out, woohoo.
satan scored bye bye stars
Wtf? Florida is beating the piss out of Washington right now.
Also I'm not surprised to see Dallas starting to slump a bit, the only team more unlucky with injuries than Dallas has been Edmonton.
I had hope that the Stars could still push this season to the playoffs with Morrow and Richards out, but its been too much now. With Peterson and now Ott outt, our current team is just a shell of what it really is. We have 2, count them 2, proven forwards atm (Modano and Riberio), both of which have been having a horrible season this year. We have 2 seasoned defensemen (Robidas and Sydor) who have to play 25-30 minutes of ice time a night to cover the slack, and are getting worn out. Turco's been playing great lately, but he can't play 80 games a season and expect to be at 100%. I had a lot of hope for us after the All-Star surge, but with these new injuries, I hate to say it but I think our season's over.
Hopefully we get a nice draft pick and cut the fat over the Summer.
At the rate he's going it won't be long!
I'm not sure if its just their teams being in stunts, or a mixture of high morale from brodeur returning and just being on fire skill wise, but devils are doing well for themselves. Their last 20 games they've lost only 4, and when they did they lost by alot with exception to one. They can go from beeating San Hose (despite it being so high scoring) to getting washed out to the caps 4-1. I haven't heard but I'm pretty sure Weekes is going to be on his way out soon although I'm not sure if that's true yet. Sucks to be him.
Nobody in Pittsburgh wants Eaton.
Sadly nobody outside of Pittsburgh wants him either.
Feels damn good to be in the playoff picture again.
For now. Let's see if they can keep this up though. It never ceases to amaze me how much better then Pens play when Crosby isn't on the ice. I don't know if the team relaxes a bit when he's not there or what. But Malkin definitely elevates his game every time he's out of the lineup.
I'm reading a crapload of reports that a Pascal Leclaire to Ottawa for Antoine Vermette and a pick deal is almost done. At least we'd get another center, but it's not really the one I'm looking for. I'd be more interested in getting Jason Spezza but I have a feeling that the asking price is too high. I'd prefer us not, as they say, "mortgage our future" just to make the playoffs. Although Spezza could be a nice long term fix for us at Center.
Ottawa won't move Spezza. I think that the only people who are really untouchable on Ottawa's side are Alfredsson, Spezza, and Heatley. I think just about everyone else on that team has a nice price tag on their heads.
It's funny you mention how well they play without Crosby. He had an interview a few days ago where he "joked" that his team probably didn't want him back since they've yet to lose a game iirc when he's not in the line up.
Anyway, we have three more games against the Panthers which are four point games, and with the way we're playing I'd expect to win at least two of those realistically. Then we also have a game against the Lightning tomorrow and the Thrashers soon, which should be wins but it's always hard to predict in hockey. And then also the Kings this month, which won't hurt us as badly as losing against a team in our conference.
I already got tickets for the Pens-Thrashers game and I'm student rushing Pens-Kings :D
So according to a couple of sources Martin St. Louis nixed a deal to the Penguins with his no trade clause. Now the Pens are supposedly inquiring about Marian Gaborik.
and guerin is almost confirmed for trhe caps.
but st-louis with pittsburgh?
Damn lecavalier and tampa bay are so dead if that's the case
Tampa Bay won't be able to afford St. Louis next year, it's in their best interest to deal him now so they can get something in return. As opposed to just letting him walk in the offseason. I'm curious to see what Philly does considering they have an immediate problem with the salary cap as soon as Briere comes back.
Another rumor that popped up for Columbus was Raffi Torres to Toronto for Alexei Ponikarovsky and Jamal Mayers.
For some reason I seriously think the Penguins are going to end up getting Nik Antropov from Toronto. I don't know why, just a gut feeling. I do not want them trading for Gaborik. It would be a waste just as big as the Hossa deal. Except Gaborik is made of glass, whereas Hossa is somewhat durable.
I've been arguing with some idiot on yahoosports about the Penguins. He feels that they should have overpaid for Malone, Roberts, and Hall to give the team another run deep into the playoffs this year. I asked him how would they deal with the cap hit the following years when it would essentially cripple them. Of course, he had no answer. God I fucking hate talking hockey in depth with a casual fan.
Keeping Malone would have meant getting rid of Malkin or Crosby, is he more valuable than those 2? Sure they might get deep into the playoffs again this year, but what about next year, and the year after that where they're panicking and desperately trying to dump salary.
