Oxyminus (or any Rangers fan), how safe is Glen Sather's job? I mean if they make in to the playoffs and get knocked out in the first round is he safe? I just can't fathom some of his moves sometimes, it's like he still doesn't understand they have to play to a cap sometimes. Granted his trade deadline moves have proved to be good so far.

Edit: Naslund for 4 mil is not really a good deal in todays market. Especially considering his scoring touch seems to be diminishing. Still he'll get 25 goals this season and probably 20+ next season. But is that really worth 4 mil when he disappears for long stretches during the season?

Redden is overrated at this point in his career. He's still capable of playing twenty minutes a night, but he's no longer at the high level he was once. Zherdev to me still is a crap shoot. He's still only what 24 or 25? But you never know what guy you're going to get on a game by game basis. The guy has world class talent but it seems like he takes a lot of shifts off. Even with how well he's played this year it's still no given that he's going to surpass his point total from last year.

Gomez I truly think will be gone. New Jersey has always shown a willingness to get back players who once wore the red and black so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they could make a move for him.

I'm not sure if Antropov is going to produce the way you think he will. Granted he's been on fire since he was traded but his entire career he was hit with unrealistic expectations when it comes to his point production. I think 50-55 points would be attainable, but 70-80 just seems a bit too high given his past performances.

Morris will walk without thinking twice. I'm thinking along the same lines as you are though with Roszival. He has no clauses in his contract and his salary isn't breaking the bank. It's very easy for a team to make some room for him as well as Naslund.

Ok guys, I have an odd hockey question for you all, its not hockey in particular, but its hockey related. Are open faced shoes (in this case, flip flops / sandals) allowed in arenas usually? I swear they're gonna say something, I'm wondering if we should run back to her house to get shoes-shoes. I tried looking at my specific team's arena FAQ (Mellon Arena / Pittsburgh) and was unable to find an answer. I think its supposed to be a health hazard or something...

That only applies to certain events AFAIK and hockey isn't that stringent on dress code. So open toed shoes should be fine. I've been to plenty of hockey games and never noticed them checkout out people's footwear.

On the subject of the Rangers:

Sather's job is probably safe this season. But I can definitely see a scenario where the Rangers are terrible next season due to the contracts that they are stuck with and having to play 2 lines of AHL players to compensate. I guess only time will tell, but he SHOULD be on his way out IMO.

If there's a rule against open toed sandals I've never heard of it. You need to make a giant sign that says WEAVE ME A STORY UNCLE BRILL! So I can see where you're at on TV. If I had tickets I would meet up with you guys somewhere lol.

I'm pretty sure I've seen people with sandals before. With socks.

But yeah, I'm positive I've seen people with sandals before, so I don't think it'd be a big deal.

Brill, you'll 100% see me on TV! My mother and I have tickets for her birthday, which was Friday, and we're going to be down in the corner where Fleury plays twice. Pretty sure our seats are lined up right with the center of the circles, iirc, two rows from the ice. Fucking stoked.

Thanks for the opinions both of you.

Hahahahaha I would if I could but I'm so broke, I spent all my money on Pens-NJ April 1st tickets, Alk3 tickets, and Gaslight Anthem tickets That + I'm going with an official "group" with my university, so they're all going to have lame ass "Cal U Commuter Council" signs.... And if I had the money for a sign, and if I wasn't with a group that wants to look all bubbly and flagrantly homosexual, it would say "My GF is an angry psycho" and I'd have an arrow pointing diagonally down at the seat next to me.

In terms of the actual game, Kovalchuk may not play tonight (he missed yesterday's game) and Lehtonin won't be starting since he faced 50 shots last night, so its going to be Colby Armstrong and Johan Hedberg trying to beat us hahahaha

I seem to remember a certain Johan Hedberg being the Pens savior in the playoffs a few years ago...

He's hockey's version of a one hit wonder.

Fixed because you know she would be out the door after seeing that lol. I loved Hedberg when he was here. He was a great goalie. I remember when he took anger management classes because he kept breaking too many sticks when he gave up a soft goal.

Kovalchuk isn't in the line-up tonight confirmed, unless it's a game time change and he's suddenly better. He has an "upper body injury" according to the Pens' website.

Nice first Period for both team,

Just 1 thing STUPID AVERY, i'll explain

He gets hit in the face (habs couldve get a penalty there) but the problem is that avery stayed on the ice like he was injured for 10sec, before getting up and going back to play when he wasn't hurt

    damn attention whore

Looks like Marty Brodeur is breaking Roy's record tonight.

Glad to see it happen, now if only Vancouver can win tonight we'll catch Chicago in the standings. If it does end up being a Chicago vs Vancouver 1st round Im pretty excited, and I don't even think Vancouver can for sure win it. It'll be some great hockey though.
