I'm not a fan because I rather watch the game, you know...the game with the team I'm rooting for....THE WHOLE REASON I'M THERE!!! than start a fight with a guy who has a chip on his shoulder because he's in a public place....with security guards....and access to the cops....and I don't want to get tossed and waste my $52 ticket?

You do understand being a fan is about supporting your team? and not yourself right? I bet you're one of those people who has a jersey with your own name on the back. I never realized it was more important as a fan to fight people than to watch the game. and ooooooog I'm reeaaallllllllyyy scared of you Philly guys....oooooh! Tell you what, I just bought every ticket for the game here on thursday (and the sunday game in philly) to make sure ONLY Rangers fan are in attendance....know why?

Oh I agree, that if you wear the visiting team's jersey, you can expect to take some shit for it. But there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. I live in Pittsburgh, I've lived here my whole life. I also happen to love the Indianapolis Colts. So for my sister took me to a Monday Night Football game where the Colts were playing the Steelers as my Christmas present. I wore a Manning jersey.

I've never been more ashamed of Pittsburgh than I was at that game. I was pelted, literally pelted with everything from beer and hot dogs to AA batteries. I had a bruise the size of a baseball on my shoulder from where I got hit. I have no patience for this kind of crap, it's uncalled for and dangerous.

Taking shit for it is one thing, getting into fights, during the game is another. Hell I took a friend of mine who's a Sabres fan to a Rangers v. Sabres game a few weeks ago. he took shit for it but nothing happened.

I remember years ago, first year back from the lock-out I think. Rangers lost to the Sabres in OT. I was in the pisser, Rangers fan and Sabres fan almost fight. Buddy of Sabres fan pulls him away, Rangers fan yells "You must not know who I am!" no fucking really?!? That mentality blows my mind. Shit even the players say once the game ends it's a GAME.

Usually when there's an enemy presence in the stands we only get on their back if/when they score a goal, and if we're losing. Other than that we'll just incorporate giving you the finger when we hear the Rangers goal song. We just do our own chants.

Going by that game, there was little/no reason to pay you any mind, I wouldn't have (and I'm not saying that as a "fuck you" from this conversation)...winning the game 4-1 at home and a visiting fan is cheering their losing team? Have fun, you're losing!

I would love to see Columbus in there. It's always cool to see an expansion team finally break that plateau where they become a playoff team. Atlanta doesn't count because they still suck.

I'm hoping we get a few points to sew up the 6th spot, I really like how we match up with Calgary at the moment, although it wouldn't be a tragedy if we slipped one spot to 7th and had Detroit in the 1st round. That would make for an epic playoff atmosphere in both buildings.

yea, youre supposed to stand your ground on your home turf. you dont let visiting fans chant for their team inside your building.

I am a lifelong Rangers fan, ive been going to every game since i was about 7 years old. Fans are allowed to fucking trash on their teams if you want,dont even get me started on the damn Cowboys. And those fans who wont let you chant in their building, those are the people will beat and rape you and light your jersey on fire if you will (Hi Philadelphia home crowd). We respond with a louder LETS GO RANGERS chant. We dont have to yell shut the fuck up at the people to prove our point.

Philly fans are just classless, and I reference again their behavior during the World Series (pouring the beer on the 9 year old kid most notably). The worst I've seen happen at a Pens game is my Philadelphian friend from college wore Flyers gear to a Pens-Flyers game and got popcorn thrown on him, but thats a lot less severe than a beer dump, and hes a grown man.

New York my beef is how quickly they cut the throats of people they love one day. A-Rod gets torn to pieces. They turn on their teams so quickly, all the sports. I remember early in the season after Oxy's Zherdev game where his profile pic is from that the Rangers fans were booing their teams sloppy play early on and I criticized the Rangers for saluting their fans after they came back and won it (even if they do it after every game). Those 20,000 didn't deserve a salute, they deserved a stomach full of guilt for harassing their team when down what? only 2-0? New York, its media and its people, are just way too quick to go from loving to hating to loving again its players and its teams.

I always felt this attitude in sports took place in other place, but if it's a New York "thing" I had no idea lol. I don't know how it works with the Yanks (fuck em!) but for me and the Rangers at least, it's like a rough patch with someone you're very much in love with. You scream, you kick, you yell, but you'll never ever ever ever want to be with anyone else. So I complain about my team when they do bad (because I wish they'd be playing up to their potential) but I always root for them.

Also, I've NEVER boo'd my team, or any of its players (let's see who has gotten notoriously singled out over the years...Malik, Ozilinsh, Redden, Poti...wtf is it with defensemen?) I didn't partake in the "FIRE RENNEY" chants that filled MSG before he got canned. I can understand people's desire to boo though. The "Zherdev Game" for example, sure we were only down 2-0, but there was no sense of urgency, desire, ANYTHING. When people boo I think it's as much supposed to be a wake-up call as anything else.

For the NYC sports media??? Larry Brooks who does the bulk of the writing about the Rangers is critically acclaimed as a joke by every sports fan here. Using him as an example of "the media" is an embarrassment.

I still chuckle thinking about the Rangers vs Vancouver game in MSG this year when the fans ate Rossival alive. He wouldn't touch the puck after the second period. Every time he did Ranger fans booed. lol

As far as fans go, I still think Montreal fans can be the worst. But from what little I've seen and heard New York is a close second.
