Holy hell did Chicago and Vancouver put on a game last night. Goalie battle it was not, but I'm glad we got to see some high flying offense from some of the Vancouver guys. But was the trap style really the only thing holding them back the last few games? I dunno but I really would have liked to see more of that action sooner. Now I gotta wait till October

Also Luongo is gonna want to have a really good year in 09/10 and hopefully he'll get another crack at the playoffs and maybe actually earn that title Clutch goalie.

Oh well, congrats to the Hawks. Great, young team. It was a lot of fun watching that last series but if it comes down to Chicago vs Pittsburgh/Washington, I'm rooting for the east

Coincidentally, Mark Eaton left the ice to go to the trainer's room with Dana Heinze right before the OT goal was scored. Between that, the caps controlling the flow so far in OT, and then Talbot's stick breaking, I knew when I saw it snap it was going to be bad. Mark Eaton leaving was a bad omen... a living legend... there is no beaton Mark Eaton - but without him, we fell to 2 composite splintered pieces.

Hahahahahaha YES!!! That was the ultimate moment last night! 4 goals in the post season, even Bob Errey couldn't stop laughing about it, he couldn't believe it. I swear some day Bob or Staggy is gonna say "No Beaton Mark Eaton" and everyone here is gonna know where it started - with my university friend and our Merv Griffin Fantasy Hockey League.

I swear, all we needed was Goligoski to score on that final PP and I would've shit a bed that 3rd period was so intense. Not the bed. A bed. A large, royal king size bed complete with posts and curtains around it as well as pillows and linens would've fallen out of my ass onto the ground and I would've grabbed my stuffed animal penguin - bought from the Pittsburgh Zoo, who watches every game wearing a Pens rally towel from last year's playoffs (and now this year's) draped around him and synched in front like a cape with a safety pin - and I would've run around the mother fucking town in my Goligoski shirt screaming at the top of my lungs til the cops stopped me.

That being said, Fleury needs to show up for Game 7. I don't care what Pensblog or any other person says about "don't throw him/anyone under the bus." Hal Gill, be damned, he's still got a .870ish save % on the series and he's allowed more goals than any other goalie in the playoffs. Yes, he's played in a handful more games than 8 of the other 15 goalies. But what do all the goalies have in common below him in the GAA category? They're playing golf - and he will be soon too if he doesn't get his shit together. Some of the goals, not his fault, but he needs to find a way to keep it out regardless. There's 6 players on the ice/in the box when we're scored upon, and everyone of them has a share of the responsibility pizza. Some may have a bigger slice than others, but Fleury needs to keep it out, period.

I'm the biggest fucking homer on the planet, and I hate every sports team from the entire state of PA with a virulent passion, but even I would never say that Crosby or Malkin sucks. Nor would I say they're overrated. In fact, I'm genuinely impressed with how fucking gutty Crosby is in down in front of the net. For all the shit we give him regarding being a baby (I still think he's a fucking baby, lol), the kid really is a beast.

This series is utterly ridiculous. Just two incredibly well-matched teams. The Pens are more experienced and disciplined, and the Caps are all or nothing. Bregor is dead on about our style of play- we've been doing this all season. We get up for the big games, and then lose the ones we're supposed to win. It's absolutely maddening. I've been chalking it up to youth and inexperience, and I really hope they learn from it. They're now 6-1 in elimination games under Boudreau. That can't last forever, and even if it does I think all Caps fans will die of heart attacks before we ever get a chance to see it.

The refs are fucking abysmal. The no-call on the trip on Semin's breakaway for a goddamn travesty. And the slash on Laich at the end of the third was an absolute joke. I'm sure the Pens fans have their own gripes from their perspective. Either let them play, or call it evenly. It's really a shame.

Do I make good on my promise to take my wife out to dinner tomorrow night and miss the game? ZOMG dilemma.

You could always pull the I never said where I was taking you to dinner routine and hit Burger King lol. Or you could pick a restaurant that is a decent haul away like in Tyson's Corners or something or better yet Potomac Mills and listen to the game the entire time!

go to RFD in chinatown Virtue. its where my friends and i watched games 1 and 2. holy shit there is no better place to watch, even though your wife cant get into hockey she will be completely swept up in the atmosphere. 300 different types of beer + directly across the street from verizon = heaven.

I live in Dupont Circle, so anything in the suburbs is out. Don't own a car, plus we're surrounded by great restaurants. And my wife is a pretty bright broad- she's gonna see right through it if I try to take her anywhere with a television, lol. I can Tivo the game, but don't have an HD Tivo. As my man Steve Buckhantz says, "Daggerrrrrrrrrrr!"

Dude no way on RFD. I will grant you that beer selection is sick. But I don't think I've ever gone drinking there and not been repulsed by the bathrooms. Nothing like standing in a puddle or sewage while you're peeing. That's fine for game night, but not a place to take your wife for dinner.

I can just take her somewhere local. If I make reservations at like 6:30, I can be back by 8 and catch at least the whole 3rd. The problem is she always puts out when I take her out to dinner. I can't let all that fucking sex get in the way of goddamn game seven!

Around Dupont, I usually go to Buffalo Billiards for NFL games, not sure if the crowd there tomorrow would be more Caps-friendly, or just a professional happy hour since it's a weeknight. It's good food though, and technically a "restaurant", just one with about forty TVs. :D
