and honestly why do you have nothing but bad things to say about other teams when the flyers themselves arent fit to lick the heels of most of the east?

I dont.... like the flyers? Nor was I saying anything bad about Buffalo or Ottowa? Heatley/Alfreddson are both on my fantasy roster.

I dig into teams or fanbases that deserve to be dug into or when provoked. I don't rip on the Columbus Blue Jackets cause frankly, I don't have much of a problem with them. I rip on the flyers cause they're our rivals and thats just how we do in Pittsburgh. I ripped on the NYR fanbase (not the team itself) for their booing of the team during a game.

That being said, Philadelphia has shown its ugly side again this past week, with a smoke bomb being thrown onto the ice during the NJD/PHI game, mustard packets being thrown at Rays' manager Joe Maddon's granddaughter, and a beer being poured on a 9 year old Rays fan's head.

Not going by the #1 pick, 2005 and 2003 have been the best drafts of late, scanning through the 1st round picks. Only thing I see in the 2008 draft is a handful of a defenseman who have some potential, I'd say about 5 of the 8-10ish.
First rounders aren't the only players who become good.

Actually it was a very strong draft I count at least 6 or the first 15 picks as potential Franchise players with three more that could reach them but are more likely to just be very good first line players. Stamkos, Doughty, Bogosian, Pietrangelo, Schenn, Filatov are all pretty much locks, while Boedker, Hodgson, and Beach are the ones who could join them. Even deeper in the draft than that the quality doesn't drop that much. Boychuk, Tuebert, Eberle, Sbisa, Nemicz(sp) could all turn into impact players as well. Hell Vancouver picked up a defenseman named Yann Sauve with the 41 pick that at the beginning of the year was said to be on Par with Doughty. I wouldn't be suprised if five years down the road this draft is considered as strong as the 03 one.

Franchises aren't built around defensemen, despite how much the LA Kings believe otherwise.

yeah just look at Henrik Lundqvist, he was a 7th round pick, he is now easily one of the top 3 goalies in the league (sharing the spotlight with Marty and Evgeni Nabokov IMO).

You are still comparing Timo and Eaton. A guy who hates the Flyers at least recognizes the skill. Timonen is not a defensive defenseman. He is an offensive, puck-carrying defenseman. Timonen is not a physical player on the defensive side of the puck. However, he puts his body in positions to stop the opposing forwards. Thats how he plays his defense. Thats exactly how he stopped Ovechkin last year.

I understand the rivalry and I'm all for it. But if you're gonna talk shit you have to at least get your facts straight. It's quite clear you're more from the "talk shit now... ask questions later" stance, which makes you look like a fool.

As far as the Red Wings go, when I think of their PP, i think of Datsyuk and Hank first. Their strength is from the half-boards to down behind the net. Lidstrom is only out at the point to carry the puck up the ice and for the point shot, when it may arise. Whereas the Pens are different. They like opening their point shots for Malkin and Gonchar.

That being said, Philadelphia has shown its ugly side again this past week, with a smoke bomb being thrown onto the ice during the NJD/PHI game, mustard packets being thrown at Rays' manager Joe Maddon's granddaughter, and a beer being poured on a 9 year old Rays fan's head.
oh boo hoo. You act like this shit only happens in Philly. I guess you didnt see when Jeff carter got hit in the face with a bottle of beer after the canadiens got sent home to play golf last year. A beer bottle in the face. Did we cry about it? nope. you know why? cause unlike you fans who clearly came out of nowhere, we understand shit like this happens. Like when Tie Domi got into a fight with a Philly fan in the penalty box.

I was at the game when the smoke bomb was thrown on Saturday, and in the hallway, a Tampa bay Rays fan was walking all around the hallway, getting in people faces' and staring them down. Fuck that, if you do that shit, especially in Philly, you are going to get put in your place. People dont take lightly on their sports teams here. And if you cant deal with it, then dont come here.

For the smokebomb, yea it was totally unnecessary. Even the PA guy got on and told everyone in the building "if you saw who threw it, point him out". Yesterday's paper had an article saying that Peter Luuko(CEO of comcast spectacor) said he and authorities were still investigating and searching for the suspect. Apparently whoever threw it ran right out of the building.

Don't even get me started on much of a diver Crosby is. Sadly, alot of Pens fans take after him. The guy's got skills. A lot of them. Imo, the best all around player in the league, hands down. I'll give him that, but at the same time he is one of the biggest divers in the league.

Smokebomb or not, there's a reason Philly was voted the toughest town to play hockey in.

And still waiting for your response to what Gonchar did.

There were a few really weak calls by the refs in my opinion. Afinogenov got an unsportsmanlike conduct for shooting the puck at the goalie after an offside whistle, which is fine, but the Senators did not get penalized for the three players that jumped on Afinogenov immediately afterwards.

Sabres defenseman Weber got a phantom tripping call for a clean hit on Senator's captain Alfredson. The NHL commish was in the building last night because the World Jr. championships for 2010 were announced to be coming to Buffalo, so the refs were really calling borderline shit.

All those weak calls aside, the Sabres just plain sucked last night.

In his defense, I've never seen a stink bomb thrown on the ice before Q_Q.

Why the fuck are we arguing about fans anyways? lol

Well I'm sure that 9 year old that got the beer dumped on him was totally storming around glaring and gloating at his Phildelphian counterparts. Same with Joe Maddon's granddaughter.

No, i've never seen a stinkbomb thrown either. My point is that every town has shitty fans.

And i dont know why we are arguing about fans. Sepukku brought it up in his showing of hockey wisdom

Do you find yourself turning on Rick Jeanneret's radio broadcasts when the game you are watching is not being called by him? A lot of the time on the NHL season ticket, they will only play the home team's broadcast on TV, so I'll turn on Rick Jeanneret's broadcast on Sabres.com and play it while muting the TV.

Games just seem so much more boring unless he's calling them.

LOL yeah. Me and my circle of friends: we love Rick. A few years ago when the Sabres were in the playoffs we'd turn down the NBC audio and turn on the local radio station with Rick on it. Sometimes there were synching issues because the radio tends to be broadcast a few seconds before television, specially HD broadcasts.
