Wings in 7; 1-1 at home, 1-1 away, lose game 5, win game 6, win game 7! Finally going to live up to the hype this year.

Nice Tiger Knee move on Hossa by Orpik, been a good flow to the game so far.

Edit: Fluke goal by Detroit, bad rebound by Osgood, otherwise great hockey being played. Hope we get seven games of this.

This is terrible, I've had the game crammed into 1/4 of the screen with no sound for about half of the first period and all of the second period so far for fucking tornado warnings. Don't care, not near me, fuck off.

Edit: and now the HD channel froze and then went black, so now watching it in 1/2 of an SD channel, I can almost make out players.

Edit2: seriously I can't see shit and have to listen to faggots talk about hail, this sucks

    That's a big warning.

Two goals in this game scored by Fleury, primary assist to the Joe Louis boards.

Wings got thrown off a bit in the 2nd with the penalties. Pens played it fairly close most of the game, Fleury looking like he still needs a few more years in the league to come into his own.

Can't wait for Datsyuk to come back, it's looking to be a good series.

Let's not talk about the bundle of calls that the refs failed to call against Pittsburgh. I think they're even.

Seemed like both teams got away with a lot of minor calls, maybe one or two more for Pittsburgh, but at least they let 'em play. I watched most of the game (checked in on Cavs/Magic every now and then) and I didn't see anything they missed that was terribly egregious.

The only non-call I had issue with was the trip that led to the Malkin breakaway. The slash on Helm that the announcers said someone got away with would have been somewhat ticky-tacky in my opinion, although would not have been a phantom call. Early in the game I think it was Maltby who got somewhat mugged near the goal but it was at the edge of the camera and it panned away from it, so I'm not sure if what exactly transgressed there, although the fans seemed pretty upset about it.

It seemed slightly in Pittsburgh's favor but only slightly.

Hmm is this the 08 finals or the 09 finals? Because they looked disturbingly alike. I can't say that the Penguins played poorly. The only time the Pens looked really bad was on the powerplay. It seemed like tonight was Detroit's night. They had the lucky bounces where the Penguins didn't. I do feel the game was closer than the score indicated. It should be a good long series.

I don't know if I agree with that.

Marc Andre Failure looked like he was uninterested to be there like he has since after the Philly series. Untop the fact it looks like Therrien is coaching the team again since no changes have been made to counter Detroit's Defense. I hate to say it as it burns my soul but it's looking like Detroit in six yet again. I can not and will not cheer for a team that has MAF as number #1 netminder. He's a bum, and will always over play the simplest BS, and allow crap off his ass just to prove my point.

I am glad they simply just let them play. There weren't any penalties in the 1st period I don't think.

Frustrating game. Fleury... gah, I just dont know. So good sometimes, so bad other times... Crosby needs to suck it up and deal with Zetterburg, glad hes at least getting physical and fiesty though. If he managed to handle Mike Richards on him, Zetterburg shouldn't be too much harder as Richards is a very good defensive forward too. Little disappointed we stopped hitting, as we led in hits in the 1st period big time, but after the 2nd and 3rd periods it had changed Detroit's way. Death was on the ice, skating around Chris Chelios and Lidstrom reminding them they're playing on borrowed time, and yet we don't even lift a finger in their direction in the third period. This series is certainly going to be more competitive than last years, especially if we pull out a win tonight.

Chelios didn't play, and doesn't except when we had 1 or more other defensemen out (Lidstrom, Ericsson, Rafalski).

If only you guys had Conklin, huh?

You guys see how ridiculous that was when the puck sat on Osgood's back? I bet if that were Fleury he would have turned the other way and caused another goal.

Now correct me if I'm wrong and I'm really just splitting hairs on this one. But when the puck was on Osgood's back and Zetterberg jumped on top of him, had the puck been covered by Zetterberg(instead of Ozzie rolling on it) would that have resulted in a penalty?

If he closed his hand over the puck in the crease, it should have been. With all the bodies there though it would have been pretty impossible for the refs to call it as undisputed and in real time and would have likely needed video review to back it up. To my knowledge though only goals can be reviewed and not plays like that to determine penalties. It's likely imo, that Zetterberg got away with one there.

It could have. There are two instances of the rule, one mentions covering it from the ice, and the other only says in the crease area. I agree that Zetterberg got away with one regardless what actually happened (no not trying to start any ref bias argument, just saying that it would not have been a phantom call if it had ended up being called).

Lol @ the penalty to Malkin. Give me a fucking break to anyone who says that the refs are bias towards the Penguins. Nice non-call on Hossa for the slash to Dupuis' stick too that leads to a goal.

Honestly I'm the last person who will comment on the refs because 99% of the time I think it's just an excuse for piss poor play. But I will actually agree with Ivaden on that one. Malkin gets a ticky tacky penalty called on him while Hossa breaks a stick which results in a goal. Detroit can thank the zebras for that goal.
