I don't care where the Wings win if they do, being in Detroit would be great, but being in Pittsburgh again would be amusing to see how the fans reacted to Hossa hoisting the cup.

Also I just found a great animation of the Hossa play people were calling a slash, Dupuis broke his own stick on the ice/Hossa's leg/skate (not clear on which) while Hossa was playing the puck. I haven't seen the Pens fans here complain about it but I discovered letsgopens.com yesterday and oh boy, they do get angry.

Dood I won't even go to places like letsgopens.com. People there are fucking retards. And right now Meatball is climbing my Marc Andre Fleury flag. Now if he starts shredding it, do I stop him lol?

Zetterburg's catnap in the goal mouth is a vivid example of the need and benefits of having a sensor in the puck, like the NFL is considering for their footballs and end zone lines. 20 years in the future and that would've been a goal (assuming it crossed), regardless of the refs being able to see it.
Looking towards the off-season is not an indication of how I feel about the series. If you'd pay attention, I've already said I'm not worried about being down 2-0. Looking to the off-season is more along the lines of I want to know what our team will look like next year, too.

Hmm, Hossa's alleged slash looks a lot like Pascal Dupuis breaking his own stick on Hossa's skate.

the thing is that Hossa hooked him before that happened. it should have been a penalty. not the slash

Except he didn't hook him. If you look at replays, the "hook" was actually all stick on stick contact, all Hossa did was lift his stick.

Around 2:50 there is a pretty good angle.

have you not seen the refs call a penalty on stick on stick hooking?

theyve been doing it all year. he didnt hook his body or arms, he hooked his stick. there is a point on the stick while going up to the hands where the refs start to call hooking penalties. that easily was one of them

Hooking is impeding or hindering progress using the stick. Hossa did nothing of the sort. In addition
(NOTE) When a player is checking another in such a way that there is only stick-to-stick contact, such action is not to be penalized as hooking.
If a ref calls hooking for stick on stick contact alone it is an incorrect call. Hossa lifted his stick, albeit higher than you usually see stick lifts, but that is not a penalty.

Good game all around, but things went the Pens way this game; too many men on the ice for 25 seconds and the cross check to Franzen's head among others. Detroit more or less just didn't play as well in the third as they did in the first two.

Non calls on the 6 men and cross check, and calling interference on Ericsson's play (which was something that happens all game) were pretty big, specifically the first. Our PK needed to be better though, 1:20 of uncontested play in our zone on the last one.

Can't win em all, the Wings will bounce back and every game played is a game closer to Datsyuk coming back.

All I can say is Gary Bettman needs to take a trip to the zoo because these zebras he has now are defective. Horrid absolutely horrid officiating. I can't complain because it helped swing the game in the Pens favor, but come on 21 seconds of six skaters on the ice and nobody notices it?

Pretty much. If they're calling what Ericsson did consistently I have no problem, that fits interference. The problem I have is that they aren't. But not seeing one of the easiest penalties to spot... No one even noticed when the 6th man went off and no one replaced him?

Well, the too many men I can't deny. Heads up play by No Beaton Mark Eaton to get back. The crosscheck...ehhh, Crosby got hit pretty hard without the puck trying to cross the blueline after the dump in (by someone else) about 4 seconds before that, so perhaps that was part of Cooke's motivation.

But not getting a too many men wasn't the sole reason you guys lost the game. You could always try killing a power play, mkay? ^^

    Just like I said.

I think the difference was the Pens getting more quality chances tonight. Three good shots from near the top of the circles/blue line (two on the PP) and three goals. Osgood played fantastic for what he faced, and the Wings were playing well through the end of 2.

Wings didn't make the most of all of their chances though, I think.

Watching the Wings' first power play was humbling. Creating shot opportunities from just about every angle and an almost rapid fire amount of time, phew.

I'm not sold that we'll win the series, but at least it wasn't a sweep. And hey we got a more than one goal game!

The officiating this years playoff season has been complete crap imo. You could pick out at least one bad game in every teams matchups thus far.

Fixed it for you. I can honestly say that between the piss poor officiating and the NHL sweeping aside suspensions/disciplinary actions as they see fit, this postseason has brought up some glaring issues within the NHL. It doesn't matter if you're a star or a grinder. I believe Malkin should have been suspended. Period. I've said it a number of times, but I will say it again. The NHL is more concerned with the tv ratings and their revenue than it is with the health of their players. Which is it boys? Do the refs put the whistles away, or do you want them to call iffy penalties? At least be consistent with whichever one you choose.
