This really helps drk merits in general; I am a proponent of 5/5 Diabolic Eye (if you actually use DRK outside of zerging...), and this definitely lends weight to doing 3/5 or 4/5 at most for DB (1 for Dark seal of course).

Yah, basically meant that in fights where only the first 30 seconds are likely to matter (Bahamut V2 etc), /drg will in theory be the more powerful sub for 2handed weapons... but then you get an overflow of Haste on 2handed zerg anyway so it may be worth just sticking with the hasso due to it granting accuracy as well (Feint, 2x SV mad etc yeah, but can't hurt).
You could in theory make a stronger build with /drg for those 30 seconds but it would be relatively marginal and so I don't see this completely revolutionising 2h zerg (which is the weaker of the method of zerging at the moment anyway); rather, just meaning I'll be going 5DE/4DB and not the other way around.
Just for the sake of clarity, Sambas are overridden by any added effect on the weapon that a player is using, or anything that generates an added effect (i.e. Blood Weapon). It never takes precedence over any other add effect, so Haste Samba is completely useless with Blood Weapon up, or any enspells from equipment or the actual spells themselves.

Heh I still think it's useful. That just means in like a merit pt (at least for me) I can put up Seigan + TE on during LR ws spam phase while still retaining the 25%(5 DB) from LR. Also in other instances where I'm on a different sub if needed, I still can utilize the full haste bonus from LR.
zerging wise maybe drk need look at diff sj :O
but meripo etc where you still need to cut things outside the "drk golden period", /sam seem more haste to me :O
ps. i dont like seigan during LR!!! i like mobs to hit my spikes XD XD
this definitely explains why i feel a bit slower when I use BZ and zerg with only 7% haste (lvl 4 DB) and go with full HP setup, I am missing 5% haste due to the JA cap. Awesome finding.
Does Haste Samba count as a JA haste? I recall hearing it didn't effect recasts, so seems it didn't fall under gear or magic...
Elmer just told me about this discussion coming out of the Group 2 Merits article. I fully admit I know very little about all the intricate details of the game, especially for Front Line Jobs, so when translating the article I really don't know what's already known and what might be new info. I'm glad it sounds like this piece might have helped a few people with how they spend their merits in the future!
I only did the developers comments for the article but there is actually a whole page dedicated to each job about the various Group 2 Merit options. If there is enough interest, I can translate the DRK page after getting back from Tokyo Game Show.
Haste Samba is strickly attack speed, has no impact on magic or JA recasts. be interesting to see what SE adds as group 2 merits for dnc when it does come around, think we should all send e-mails telling them to make that a group 2 merit, a haste effect on recasts is all dnc is really missing to make it take a full time place of whm and rdm in merits pts, but then again my dnc is lvl 1 and I have'nt done a lot of merit pts with them so please don't quote me as some expert XD
Replacing a Rdm in a merit party, unheard of.
Sides stuff like feather tickle AOE Spam and amnesia will keep dancers out of main heal situations.
Nobody heals like a Rdm.
