Welp, ran into the "game breaking" bug where I can't accept any mission rewards. Can't send my companions out to do missions, can't do any missions, NADA

PVP is definitely way more skill/team based in swtor than it is in wow or any other pvp I've ever played. I play a sith juggernaut tank and my ability to soak up other peoples dammage is rediculous, guard transfers 50% of all dammage to someone to me and taunt reduces dammage to anyone other than me by 30%. I don't do a lot of dammage but your never going to kill the person im guarding/tanking for.

This. Definitely requires some teamwork and communication on all maps. I gather it's going to take folks a minute to get used to Huttball since it's probably the most devious (fun) type of PvP match i've seen in a while. People will have to get used to the pass the ball mechanic, I know i did. Though, they need to add rewards for open world PvP as well. I would like to see some objective based open world PvP where the factions will have to work together to capture/defend resources.

There's like a 5min wait this afternoon on Jung Ma already. I imagine a lot of people are going to be on vacation starting today for a bit. We initially rolled on Deathwind Corridor server, but after looking at all chat in the general channel after 10 minutues we decided to roll with on the RP-PvP server as RP'ers are generally more civilized it seems.

Quick question regarding preorders. I preordered it the other day (lolsolateiknow) but the thing is the register I checked out on didn't have receipt paper so I didn't get a code for the bonus color stone any idea how I'd go about getting that at this point?

In Huttball, how does pass work? Do you have to target someone or does it just pass to the nearest friendly?

  11. #2951
You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

When you join the first time you get a button to click. When you click it it makes a target area you can move with your mouse. You have to move it where you want to and click it, if there are friendly players there they will catch it. If it's enemy players they'll intercept it, and if there's no one there it gets reset to the center.

I'm probably the minority here, but I tried this game out and didn't really care for it.

    - Battle system felt extremely clumsy and poorly executed.

    - Movement seemed less than graceful.

    - Didn't really like the controls or menu system.

But I'm the same guy who didn't like WoW either, and my MMO experience is basically 8+ years of FFXI and 5 days of FFXIV.

I agree with all of those criticisms and we're similar in MMO experience except I got raped by NCSoft for 1.5 years while playing Aion.

I find TOR enjoyable still in spite of it's faults. I think it's basically the carrot-at-the-end-of-the-stick thing. It's something to do for awhile. Not sure if it's got staying power for me personally (probably does for others).

And FML, 1000 people in queue.

The combat was actually one of the bigger positives for me when it comes to SWTOR. Then again, I guess I like WoW's kind of combat. I also played FFXI for around 3 years but I absolutely hated the control and combat system of that game, lol. Gear swapping and carrying around different sets of gear to maximize WS/certain abilities was its only saving grace.

Staying power of SWTOR will depend entirely on whether or not there will be enough content to last (for the majority of players) until they do a content patch. From what I've seen so far, it's beginning to seem like that's a yes, but who knows.

It's unlikely that they'll do anything to alleviate login queues since there are so many lower population servers, right?
Wondering whether I should stop wasting time leveling my Mind Trick toon and just reroll on a heavy pop server instead
There was a 30 minute queue at 10 AM EST this morning and it's usually ~45 minutes at night during peak congestion
    Any ideas?

A lot of what people are gonna get out of SWTOR is what they make out of it. Everybody continues to play this MMO like its a single player game, as if they are being forced to not group up with anybody. SWTOR is a total blast to play with a group of people. I was just talking just today about how cool it would be to start up a static campaign some day and play through the game with those people on those characters. This isn't any feature Bioware had to implement, but this is something you get out of SWTOR should you choose to do it. Its a multiplayer experience.

SWTOR feels a little less like a familiar MMO and more like a multiplayer game, if that makes any sense. You can run through the game solo, or you can run through the game with a group of friends. I typically like to compare this to Borderlands here when I think about it. Sure you can play the game solo and its pretty damn good, but it only shines when you get a group of friends together go to town on it. Thats how i'm seeing it right now. Even if Bioware doesn't deliver enough of the right kind of content to keep players interested, I really won't care. As long as i'm having fun with the game it doesn't really matter to me.

Just wait it out. In the week and a half its gonna take you to redo everything you did the queues would have diminished to the point of not happening at all and if they do it'll only be at peak hours with a 5 minute wait. I made the mistake of rerolling during Rift's launch and when I finally settled in my original server was fine and I had barely gotten back to where I was. Its really not worth it IMO.

Also keep in mind today was the scheduled launch day; you can bet so many people had already planned on skipping school/work to play SWTOR weeks in advance.

echoing vrumpt's comments a little bit, i didn't think i would like hutt ball that much, but holy shit it was fun with 5 friends. didn't realize you get rewards, credits, exp, etc. from it either which helps. i'm having a lot of fun with this game so far.
