Star Wars: The Old Republic Random Question/Discussion thread - F2P

Oh yeah I am so loving this game. I just finished the bonus series from Tatooine last night and really enjoyed how it ended, love the voice acting as well as the music especially for boss fights. The non-newbie planets definitely look amazing and I enjoy the fighting as well, especially in groups. Helped some folks yesterday before leaving the planet with all the Heroic 2 maps and it was awesome fun. Imagine, repeatable content that is actually fun, who knew. I am heading back to Nar Shaddaa to finish up that bonus series before heading off to Alderaan. Hmm these planets sure use a bunch of A's.


For those people still on the fence about this game, if you can just break off that mentality of well the graphics are just average or the UI seems similar to... let's say... Ever Quest II... and have an open mind to try this game I guarantee you that you will have fun. There is so much to do and see it is amazing. I am not touting that this may be your home for the next 10 years, but chances are you will enjoy the ride especially if you love to see the story unfold of the different classes. Use the Force.

I don't get the whole dark/light side thing. This one quest had me get an item for him and turning it in netted dark side points. Yet turning that item into to someone else fucked the original guy over gave me light side points.

You probably didnt really follow the story of this quest then. Some quests let you speak with kind of insane people first, then you talk to the normal person who tells you to do something else, to show everyone that the "mad" person is indeed mad. So you fuck up the first guy, but its the "right" thing to do.

(: Also I don't quite get the dual dialog option when partied with someone else, does 1 person pick the dialog option then it makes it that option for the other person or can you each choose different options? Like if I choose a light side option but my friend chooses a dark side will we both get our corresponding option or will 1 option override the other?

The game will chose the highest option to continue the conversation, along with its consequences, but things like light/dark points and companion's approval are individual, or so I've seen.

Basically what happens is, everyone gets to choose what they want to say. Then the game will /random and whoever has the highest random gets to say what they chose. But say you chose a lightside option but the guy that won the roll and killed the captain got darkside points, you'll still get your lightside points even if you don't win the roll.

Might not be the quest you did but on Coruscant there is a Senator's aide who asks you to retrieve some computer chips from a group of mercenaries. He sends you to one of the security chiefs in the area who tells you that the chips they want are used in slave collars that are illegal in the Republic. Turning them over to the security chief who destroys them does screw over the original guy but you're obeying the law and doing the right thing so you get light points for it. Turning them over to the senator means you're in favor of the illegal slave trade within the Republic. There are quite a few quests that come about like that so you really do need to pay attention to the story as you go along.

I don't believe there is any sort of benchmark for this game. Frankly its not too graphic intensive and if your system at least meets minimum system specs you'll be fine.

MMOs tend to be more CPU intensive (with the exception of maybe FF14) than GPU. That being said, my old but trusty Phenom 965 runs the game perfectly.

If you turn on the options that displays light/dark side options you don't have to pay as much attention to the quest dialogue . It puts a little icon next to the choice.

I saw a video of some sith guy with darth mauls lightsaber kick some major ass and stealth a lot and I want to play it. Anyone got a guild or whatnot on the darkside on a high pop pvp server where light side has a equal number or a lot more people?

I want to terrorize the server in world pvp and whatnot.

Any Sith Marauders here? How do you guys fare against Guardians? I found some random Jedi while questing on Tattoine (underground Czerka lab) and the dude had a Jedi companion too! Was a tough fight because I have only Vette/Quinn so far.

I confronted the Jedi Master Yonlach. He and his apprentice talk all this smack and I thought it'd be me and Vette versus both of them. I chose to reply to them saying, 'They underestimate your power Vette.' Then Yonlach says I'm bluffing and paralyzes/incapacitates Vette instantly. Super easy fight though but it was so abrupt that Vette went down (this is part of the story, not during the actual fight).
