Stop.
Never blame the player. Blame the game for having such a shitty system in place. PVP shouldn't be for only 50's with gear to enjoy. WoW (and by extension, most MMOs that came afterwards) has had a tier system for how long now?
What possible, logical reason could Bioware have for not including one (knowing that players care about 3 things: Control, Balance and Content, in no particular order) in a brand new game, out to supposedly wrest control of millions of WoW's subs and hold them for years?
Take the White Knight stick out of your ass and address the issue for what it is: a problem that should have never been one. Even Rift had brackets from day one. This should be a non-issues, but here we go.
I second this. Half of my gear is champion with the odd centurion thrown in. I still get stunned and popped by Operatives unless I have my CC Break off cooldown. In the event that I do break the stun, I have one shot to stun and get myself in a position to not get owned. If they break the CC? I'm dead. They have Resolve? I'm dead. I watch Sentinels/Guardians in expertise gear get stunned and popped by the same assholes, and unless my Crit/Surge relic and 2 shot +Crit ability are off cooldown, there's no way I'm keeping them up. Sometimes that's not even enough, and I break out 4.5k Deliverances on a 1.2 cast time with HOT cycles.
Operative is absolutely disgusting right now if played right.
The stat boosting system is great idea just with poor implementation. Apparently Bioware didn't anticipate expertise turning level 50s into gods for anybody else (gg bioware). Putting 50's into their own bracket should fix the problem. We don't need to go and copy everything WoW or Rift does just because its one solution to the same problem.
Oh, I agree. However, the lowbies could use a nice case of removing their heads from their posteriors. I'd have a better chance of getting Liberace to go straight then I could get a bunch of 10s-20s to work together. Huttball is a lost cause, some days.
My post was more along the lines of how retard above decided to try to assume that level 50s with expertise gear were not having problems with Operatives/Smugglers.
Just stick 50's in their own Warfronts and it's pretty much settled. Even at 45 it's a pain getting 4 shot. I just try to get my one win and call it a day. Something like 10-30 31-49 and 50 would be good enough brackets.
My point wasn't to copy WoW; my point was that, as a player, its absolutely irresponsible, counterproductive, and downright moronic to blame players for the developer's design flaws. The players aren't getting paid for this product; the devs are. Take your grievances with shitty design up with those who designed it, not those who play it. My point was also that the devs dropped the ball on this, apparently terribly; something that shouldn't have happened since so many games post-WoW have gotten it somewhat right by launch time.
Did they do anything between beta and launch? Sounds like another XIV period, only without the completely shitty end result.
It's actually pretty obvious to see where Bioware spent a lot of their time during the betas: Chapter 1. I'd say anywhere post-Alderaan is where things take a turn into OMGWTFVille.
While I was able to hit 50, finish all of my storyline, gear up in PvP, etc, I'm finding a lot of other people having troubles in certain areas (eg. the Counselor/Stark fight, the last storyline fight for Counselor, Counselor's Atriss Station questline). I have to revisit these areas in order to help people get through it because it's too difficult for them to focus on certain aspects of the fight (eg. Stark and the last storyline fight require a lot of healing while focusing on interrupts). The clincher of it all is that it isn't something that people are eased to. It hits all of a sudden once you hit Belmorra/Hoth and if you are not prepared for it, you're going to struggle.
Not to mention that a lot of the mid-tier instances (think Taral V and Maelstrom Prison) are not simple tank-and-spank instances, and some of the fights do not feel tuned (the last boss of Taral V actually caused quited a few headaches).
Dancing in Star Wars: The Old Republic can make you invincible
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/01/04/da...ou-invincible/
The recent Ilum exploits in Star Wars: The Old Republic pale in comparison to the the glitch shown above, spotted by RPS, in which a bounty hunter discovers that dancing instantly interrupts all enemy attacks, effectively rendering him invincible as long as he never, ever drops the beat.
Typing the /getdown command in front of an enemy that’s targeting you seems to do the trick. We haven’t had chance to try it yet, but we’ll dive in for a quick boogie in front of the first Rancor we find at lunchtime. Chris reckons that as the /getdown command is used for group dancing, the attacking NPC’s indecision may be down to the fact that he’s TRYING to dance, but can’t manage it, because he only knows how to kill
If there hasn’t been one already, a ninja patch is surely incoming to fix this one. Until then, go forth and dance! Nothing in the universe will be able to stop you.
This game honestly has some of the worst CS I've ever seen. Jesus fuck, how horrifying. Let's just say that SWTOR is one of those games where you better hope you never require any kind of GM assistance because you're going to be SOL if you ever do.
I'm disappointed now that I've hit 50. Still waiting on my boyfriend to get 50, which he should tonight, but we will only be able to play at night. During the day when I can play, we chose a less popular server apparently and theres only like 10 50s on at one time. The entire time leveling, there has been less than 10 people in a zone since lvl 35. Feels like there's nothing for me to do except not log on until the boyfriend gets home because I don't play MMOs for PvP and don't feel like running those for gear.
I said this with Rift, I don't care if its a straight rip off from WoW, I wish they would have put a cross server flashpoint system in place. Maybe they will eventually, but for now, I'm bored.
Codex entry hunting! Datacrons, grind in pvp, do daily quests on Illum, level an alt? D:
Bleh, getting constantly d/c'd while trying to run Black Talon. When I try to find support for it... nada. Fan-fucking-tastic.

PVP stuff
tl;dr - lv 50 bracket, warzone selection, illum becomes more relevantFellow PvPers, thank you for taking on the challenge of player vs player combat in The Old Republic!
In the first week after launch there were over a million Warzone matches played, with nearly half of all players participating in Warzones. Bad news for Republic players, though - the Empire currently leads overall, having won 53% of all Alderaan Civil War and Voidstar matches (across all servers). Huttball has been played the most, accounting for 39% of all matches – and yes, we’ll be adding a new same faction vs. same faction enabled Warzone in the future.
We are all really excited at the tremendous volume of participation we’ve seen in PvP thus far. Your interest and demand dictates what we’ll be delivering in the near future. I wanted to give you some insight into where we are with PvP development and where we are going.
First and foremost here is what we are addressing as a top priority:
Level 50 Bracket Warzones: Level 50 players will have a bracket of their own, playing in separate Warzone matches to lower level players. This is something we have wanted to do for some time and now that there is an increasing number of level 50 players we will be implementing the feature in January.
Open World PvP on Ilum: The planet of Ilum currently allows for open world PvP even on a PvE server, but the mechanics and incentives of the planet are not in as intended yet. We’re working on longer term goals for the planet and for other PvP areas, but expect to see some interim adjustments in January - such as more respawn points to focus conflicts, restricting Companion Characters from the area, and revisions to rewards. Ilum will also become a major source of Valor. Valor buffs will increase and decrease based on the objectives your faction owns. These buffs increase the amount of Valor you receive per player kill. However they do not give anything in and of themselves, so players will still need to defeat other players for significant Valor rewards. Additionally, daily and weekly missions will require player kills to complete. Player kills for quests and Valor credit will have diminishing returns per player killed. So, the more players that are fighting other players, the better it is for everyone.
Combat Gameplay: You’ll see several optimizations come online in January, and we are going to continue to tune this as time goes on.
We also have other exciting features coming in the near future including Ranked Warzone Matches, PvP Stat Tracking, Open World PvP Loot Drops, more Warzone medals for different objectives, Guard Optimizations and Target Optimizations.
Additionally we’re looking at ways to enable team vs. team, more level brackets and the ability to choose which Warzone you want to play in.
This is not a complete list of everything we’re working on that’s PvP related, but we have to keep some surprises for later! Thanks again for all your feedback and please keep it coming. We read as much as we can then cross reference with metrics to take action on features and tuning the game to ensure an enjoyable and competitive PvP community.

Read: Hey guys, you know all that shit you've been whining like hell at us about on the forums, but didn't give us a fucking chance to implement yet seeing we've had our hands busy you know, launching the damn game? Its coming, within the next few weeks. Now shut the fuck up.
Also, the changing Ilum to kill quests for dailies is going to be hated REALLY fucking fast. Esp seeing as there is as much as a 5:1 empire:republic ratio on some servers...Prepare to get zerged. At least the Ilum teaparties we have now actually allow Republic a chance at getting their daily done, once its kill based the zergs will form, and good fucking luck completing shit.
This. I'm 25 at the moment, and i've only run into like 2-3 people outside of Tython. I don't know if the Republic side of my server is just super low pop wise, or if its this way for everyone, but I'm not going to keep playing if I'm playing pretty much by myself. The only flashpoint i've been able to complete was with Esseles because I made friends with a guy who had a higher level alt. I've had to skip all of the heroics outside of coruscant because the people who are on, don't want to group up.
I noticed my server went from Light to Standard though, but i'm not seeing much of a difference.
