The game is pretty shitty as a non-sub.
Sub for a month to get a taste of everything you are missing. If you love it, keep subbing, if not, oh well, it was only $15.

Any tips for converting cartel coins into credits? I've got about 2500 from having an authenticator on my account for the last few years, and I'd like to try to have enough credits to buy new mods frequently enough that I can keep going through the class quests without getting gimp to the point that I can't progress.
It's pretty much all luck. Weapon crystals are the best seller, but is a rare loot. I'm currently hoarding a few worth 300-800k each.
Video might be considered spoilery, it uses the same footage they showed us in the Twitch stream a couple of weeks ago, nothing huge though.
I know big changes to gear are coming with new patch (which I should probably read up on), but quick question for those more plugged in than I am. Will basic commendations be worthless after update? I've got a ton of them that I could use to upgrade my lesser used (or not at all companions) if these are going defunct. Thoughts?
Typically, when there is a large update, basic comms are moved down a gear tier. You won't be able to get the newest gear with it, but you can buy better gear that you previously could not buy with basic comms. Regarding your companions, don't bother. When KOTFE drops, companion gear will become cosmetic only, and your companions stats will be scaled to match your own level gear quality.
Is it just me or does this game get really laggy real fast? I'm connecting from very far away, so I'll always have high ping, but at first it was still very playable, at 3-4 bars. After a while it got to the point where it was consistently 1-2 bars, usually in the red. I read somewhere that I should try reinstalling the game if the lag gets too bad. I didn't understand why that would be a solution, but I tried it and it worked; I was back to 3-4 bars. The next day, I was back to consistently 3. Does lag just get progressively worse as you log in or something?
Some planets are laggier than others (Alderaan & Balmorra), mounts on other people also cause lag spikes.
And no matter what you do, it will ALWAYS be like that because of the shitty beta engine they made the game on :-/ which is the Hero Engine...in name only.
The more I learn about the coming expac, the more it seems less like WoW's Cataclysm, and more like a point-of-no-return for each individual character.
All of the current content will remain available, up until one pulls the trigger on the newest stuff, after which the old stuff can no longer be accessed. Is that right?
To clarify, will buying the expansion and activating it the point of no return, or will a particular moment in the expansion's new story be the point of no return?
From what I've heard, one is given the option of a new character for the content, or to use a current character for it. I imagine it's an in-game choice, especially since it is apparently going to be available to all subscribers from the get-go.
Well what I'm thinking is this: I saw earlier in the thread that buying this new expansion means you'll get the old ones for free. So can I do that, and work on the old content and ignore the newest expansion, that way I can experience all the old stuff before making it obsolete with the new stuff? I'm guessing the answer should be yes, since it'd be silly to package all the old content if simply having the new expansion will make it all obsolete.
Yeah, that's my impression. As far as 'buying' the new expansion goes, you just gave to be a subscriber at some point after it drops and you'll get it. Hutt/Revan might not even require that, come Oct. 27th.
Anyone else experiencing severe framerate drops since that last patch?
I had to repatch due to file corruption.
EDIT. never-mind
How long is the current class mission exp boost going to last?
Also, I saw that a Legacy perk is respecialization. Does that mean that within a class they can change their roles? I.e., will let a Jedi Shadow switch between Kinetic Combat, Serenity, and Infiltration?
October 20th
Do subscribers get access to SOR on oct 20th also? Or do we have to wait until "standard" release date?
