A little confused as to why they decided to show this demo stream with min graphics. I would've pre-recorded if necessary. I doubt I'm going to get this game but find it interesting to follow this one from hype up to release.

No amount of videos/demos they show off will fill the void of not having beta/release/preorder info. What they've been calling testing they're calling beta now though, so i think any chance of a larger closed beta test is pretty much gone. Bioware's said that there will be a preorder code system to show your account has preordered the game; cleverly not confirming open beta access with preorders but yeah... its coming.
They were doing a live Q&A as well as he played. Honestly too many stupid questions we already knew answers to and not enough playing. He was standing around like half the time, and when he wasn't he was riding his speeder.
Still, you want to show your product at its best, not make excuses of why you're running it at the shittiest setting ever. They had no problems running those high-quality CGI vids, did they?
I disagree with how they're handling this product. The market is saturated enough; they need to do every step the right way.
yeah... i actually am surprised they didn't release a trailer with in-game footage at E3. Still may be on its way but they were able to do one for PAX East, and they've had 3 months of dev time since then to improve. And that one already looked pretty bad ass.

Rhinox.. you of all people bitching about trolling.. I'm disappoint. Just disregard what you don't like to read. It's not that hard.
Move on. Have fun talking about a game that we still aren't sure will ever be released.
And it's not my fault the publishers are all herpderp on how to show off their game properly. CG Videos.. yeah! That certainly worked for FFXIV.
reported. I don't know what you're talking about and quite frankly sir I take offense to your insinuation about me.
anyway last post on the matter. good day to you sir
Honestly, I'm not overly interested in this game. But it looks a fuckton better than TERA. TERA looks too much like AION to me.
Honestly, I come in here and make a few negative comments about things I am dissapointed in about the game. It doesn't devolve into a trollfest or go offtopic until all of you need to comment on my negativity. Furthermore, Vrumpt and I have had some good discussion over a negative comment I have made here and there. I don't post stuff to incite rage.
But keep it in mind that I dont devolve a thread into shit, all of you wanting to banter w/ me about how I dick ride another thread (lol) or posting how I shouldn't post in this thread is what devolves a thread into shit. Most of the comments from ppl other then Vrumpt have been overall negative. Don't take your fanboy or w/e anger out on me.
And when did this thread become SW:TOR vs TERA? That wasn't me keep in mind
I don't like drama. More video! Alderaan this time. Guy playing could be better tho.
Ironically enough, that appears to be TERA running in the background.
Demo stuff looks promising, still no idea which side I will pick though when OBT or retail comes out..
alright, that was pretty neat.
Made this for you cats in this thread:

They send me this shit every day because I am in the alpha. Since a tard in this thread doesn't believe how bad it is, I will take some video. If it doesn't get me in trouble with BG I will post some links later this week.
I could care less about losing access to the game, because it blows, but I don't want any probs with the BG people.
Edit - The reason they didn't release a trailer of in-game footage is because they want a paycheck at the end of the day.
Thank you, but how would your videos be different from the ones that they are showing off to people at E3? They aren't making demos anymore, everything is being run from the servers now, and what they've been showing looks pretty good. My only complaint out of everything being shown so far are jumping vehicles, since that makes no sense since they aren't going to be creatures as mounts.
I'm ready for Weltall to deliver the great truth about TOR, especially with all these anti-mmo tards saying "this is the MMO for me"...
Seriously? It's pretty clear then you're not well-versed in marketing. Bioware isn't dumb enough to put buggy content out for demo, they cut the demo and QT'd it extensively so they wouldn't look like fools. When devs do live "in-game demos" they know how to operate the game as to avoid circumstances which would make them look foolish. How often do you see an "oh shit I froze now I can't boot up the game" moment at one of these demos? Never, because any company worth a damn will rehearse the general concept and test the content throughly, not to mention go over with marketing what they can and cannot say.
Beta videos would be much more raw and a true evaluation of what the game is actually like because they WANT you to find the glitches and bugs so you can report them for fixing. Thus videos from beta would be much more informative than any marketing-spun events Bioware does at a trade show or conference.
Vrumpt is the purest form of fanboy in this instance. He wants this game to be so perfect that he's feigning ignorance at any possibility that everything isn't 100% squeaky clean. Its kind of aggravating to look at.
Go for it, Welt. I'd love to see the game with better graphical settings and a "true" barometer of how well it runs at this stage in the game.
Buggy beta videos wouldn't be informative at all. I was in the cataclysm alpha and beta and zones were buggy and in heavy construction all the way up until a few weeks before they took the beta down. They pretty much went zone by zone in their polishing stages, and it was easy to see which ones were done and ready and which ones weren't. In the end, everything turned out to be pretty good. Buggy videos today is in no way any indication of what they intend to launch with several months from now. A good tester can oversee the bugs and focus on the gameplay aspects to give feedback on, so long as the bugs aren't too crippling (i'm looking at you, cata build that made the game crash every 5 minutes).
Assuming Bioware is working similarly, they probably got the starter zones done first, followed by other planets including Tatooine and Alderaan so that they can show them off. I know Blizz went and finished the Goblin starting zone as one of the first so that the presses could come and play it midway through beta. Gameplay is really all the matters, and on that subject the game looks fine.
Vrumpt, you are seriously a clueless individual.
Did you know, about 95% of "Alpha" versions of MMOs are actually the retail versions? They aren't skeleton versions which will "drastically improve" once testers get to it. Betas are pieces of the alphas thrown out for stress tests, bugs, community input, and character balancing.
Alphas get updated almost daily, stay active even after retail, and are used for expansion testing. Being in an alpha, actually, is owning or playing the full game. There is no level limitation and little to nothing purposefully cut out.
Still with me? The game is paper solid.
EDIT - BUGS ARE NOT THIS GAME'S PROBLEM. IT'S GAMEPLAY.
