Edit: Fugly, nvm.
Sorry, muscly blue chicks don't do it for me.
About the actual game, though, I got a fusion of WoW and XI within the Star Wars universe. I got the same XI storytelling vibe (complete with NPCs staring through you or into the distance while conversing), while I got a... version... of WoW's combat and UI. Sprinkle a bit of the Fellowship NPCs in the mix (but actually make them useful, although I didn't see that NPC tanking at all once the PC got started with his "rotation"), and voila~!! A next gen flagship MMO!
It definitely feels like a Bioware work, though. Lots of close-ups on speakers during the cutscenes and the freedom to choose your own choices instead of standing there like a drone in XI. I suppose the genre has come a long way... sort of.
You all are funny, it's a Twi'lek female. They are very much apart of the game..lol
an unattractive part of it
I forgot about the "All female esque characters must be spank material" rule of video games.
You guys have seen Star Wars characters before right?
The hell does seeing Star Wars characters before have to do if someone thinks they're attractive? Yes, I've seen AAyla Secura - I blew shit up with her constantly in Battlefront II. That says nothing about whether I find her attractive, which I do not.
Move on.
I honestly can't decide if you're the equivalent of Hyan (read: repetitive/not witty MMO troll) to the SWTOR and TERA threads.
Was I the only one that thought the sorcerer was kinda dull? I mean, throw the lightsaber around or something.
Sith Sorcerer and Jedi Sage are rarely ever going to use their sabers in combat, they saved that gameplay for other classes, while Inquisitor and Consular are pretty much heavy force users.
EDIT: Sith Assassin and Jedi Shadow are Inquisitor and Consular advanced classes that WILL use lightsaber and force powers together. They both get double bladed lightsabers. my bad on previous statement.
Video illustrating dark/light choices.
Also heres stuff from the E3 meet & greet the other day regarding beta and some PvP infos.
I posted this in the E3 thread, but I'll post it here. There is more to talk about but this info I thought was fairly informative. I'll provide a full report of the evening within the next few days as my next VT Gaming Article.
When talking with David Bass, I asked him if he could clarify on what Daniel Erickson meant regarding open beta. To make a long conversation short, he basically said that they are not planning on doing what people consider a traditional open beta. He said that the hype and buzz surrounding the game is far greater than what most MMOs get pre-launch. For a game like Rift, the open beta helped it to generate a lot of hype, which was productive for it. For TOR, David said, that isn't necessary and isn't productive.
He also stated that with well over a million people signed up on this site, you cannot realistically have one test server and just suddenly open up the game to the general public before launch. That's not stressing a server, that's putting a bullet in it's head. So they will want to stress the test server and will definitely fill it to capacity. He didn't go into details how to get into this stress test prior to launch, but my guess is it will have to do with pre-orders possibly. I asked him what kind of player numbers we were talking about, but he couldn't give me a number. It will definitely be well into the thousands though.
As for what I talked about with Gabe Amatangelo, I basically asked if he could clarify on what we know about Open World PvP for PvE servers. It was mentioned in the past that there would be designated areas away from questing areas where you are auto-flagged and can fight in an open-world environment and that these areas would be clearly marked. However, some people interpreted this as either like WAR's Core server ruleset (the RvR lakes) or like WoW's Wintergrasp/Tol'Barad.
Gabe said it was definitely more like WAR's setup, ie, there will be "lakes", not every zone, but in a lot of them where it makes sense depending on the planet. He also asked me to specify that these are not "RvR" lakes, rather PvP lakes, as RvR hints at a completely different game mechanic. He also couldn't go into details about objectives within those lakes, but he did say that there will be reasons you would want to fight in these PvP areas. If you are unfamiliar with the "lake" concept, feel free to check out WAR (it's free up to lvl 10) and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Considering I barely traffic the Tera thread, and considering that I'm not trolling any forum I'm on, I'd say you're wrong. Try and stick to the discussion at hand.
@Dantrag: The guy showed off a grand total of perhaps 3 moves on that entire bar, so yes, it was dull. He could have spiced it up in any number of ways but he did not. I'm going to assume, though, that given his attempt at being soft in his speech, he was attempting to show a very basic walkthrough.
Edit: Finally some tidbits on PVP. Lets hope for a video sooner than later.
All of this. Honestly I hope the game succeeds it would be great for the genre. I'm not going to sit back and just give a company the benefit of the doubt ever again though and turn a blind eye to how the game looks and seems to play after several years of development.
Heres some lightsaber gameplay because it hasn't been shown yet here.
Gonna throw this out here as well because i think the guy does a good job of explaining some things about the game so far.

Auto target? : (
You knew it was going to have auto target. Your TERA is the only one, pretty much, without auto-target. We'll know within a year or so whether its the "future" or not.
Edit: It looks like the parry stat is probably going to play a much bigger role in this game than in others (as it should, given the sheer amount of parrying that goes on in the movies and in practice). I also wonder about that knockdown ability - it seems to last a goodly bit of time. I wonder if there's going to be traits or gear that reduce or lengthen the amount of time that it lasts. Wouldn't want to see another Juggernaut fallout with warriors chain-stunning everyone around them.
New beta testing started today, once it downloads ill see if it got any better
Well when i first played, the VA(and what little of the story i got) was great but ya the combat was terribad and the character gen was too. So if they at least fixed one of those 2 it will be an improvement lol. but ive always sorta had that problem with bioware games, great stories tedious and mindless gameplay. I loved DAO but the fighting was just uggghh. I loved ME but it was just a fps with a couple options for abilities i never bothered using. so ill still probably get it for the games story and just blow thru that and be done with it lol.
I mean, it sucks that not everybody likes it, but i don't think anybody was expecting that. I'll still need to play it myself eventually to see what specifically everybody is bitching about though, cuz from the videos i'm not really seeing anything significant to give it a 0/10 (or anywhere near it). Whats your friend's background with MMOs?
