There is no autoattack for anyone. There is a "resource free" attack that you can choose to use when your Force/Energy/Ammo has been depleted, but no autoattack. Honestly you do not miss it except when you get a phone call and are in combat. Your autoattack later on is pretty much your companion killing stuff

The only thing about WoWs character creation i hate is that its 7 years old and the models are dated, which isn't about the creation really, and Rift didn't bother to make unique races and removed any cool racial differences right before launch. Maybe i'm the only one who doesn't sit in town all day and stare at my pretty face, but i value character creation lowest when it comes to my uniqueness. Again this is just me though, obviously you guys aren't with me here.

Also, at the end of the day, a lacking character creation system just means i can play the game quicker, instead of spending all afternoon making my char to find out the name i wanted for him/her was taken.
You are definitely in the minority here man. I am one of those people who absolutely loved my character in FFXI visually. I choose the way I design my characters in WoW very specifically. I am one of those players who believes that 98% of all headgear in WoW is ugly as sin and oftentimes far over the top. I want my character to look good with and without armor. SWTOR characters are pretty ugly no matter how you shake it. The best character I have seen in the game was a Male Twilek Inquistor wearing a full cloak. Why? Cause the only thing you actually saw of his model was the head tails, everything else was covered up. They have a long ways to go with the character creator. They have a couple of very specific questionaires that they run about it early on in your experience in the test.

You do not need to be one of those guys who "sits in town all day and stare at my pretty face" to appreciate the way your character looks. While I did love my XI character visually, everytime I would run past a 7b mithra I would cringe a little because we were absolutely identical. There needs to be enough options that making an identical character is a rarity. In WoW it happens a lot, but there are a bunch of options that make it at least somewhat easy to differentiate yourself (because the armor you where is definitely not going to do it). As you said, the major problem with this character creator is the same that Rift had. All the races are near identical. Non of the races have any physical differences that are not either on their head (ie head tails or spikes or being 100% bald) or the color of their skin. All the differences are in one portion of the character model. It makes it easy to create art, because everyone is basically the same, but it makes for a bland gaming experience. I wish they had at least one non "human" race and I wish they had a few sliders for girth and at least a facial feature set up. I do not think we will see it. But there is every reason to be unhappy with the limitations in customization they are offering.

Anything short of at least Aion level character creator is a disappointment in this day and age. This is one of my main gripes about Rift. I can seriously spend 2 hours getting my character just the way i like it before i even step foot into the game. This is also why i'm a huge proponent of appearance tabs. I absolutely despise it when everyone basically looks the same once we're max level.

Looks pretty promising from that Q/A. Also, lol:

    Q. So for the lightsaber restrictions is purple going to be restricted to blacks only? thats all you see in the movie with purple sabers.
    A. That’s racist.

For me, char creation like Aion, or APB (both very very detailed) is almost too much. I don't need to stretch my characters arms half an inch longer. However, I do think its nice to have that option available even if I'm not concerened with it.

I think it's an extremely important aspect honestly. I'm the kind of person who given a good character creator like Aion or City of Heroes will spend hours to create a single character. This goes doubly so for a game like Star Wars which takes every opportunity to tell you about how immersive and amazing their story is going to be, with all these cut scenes and close up of your character's face. Gear only goes so far to customizing your character, because very few games offer the chance to make yourself look unique visually in that department. You get a certain armor set, as do a lot of other people, and the only distinguishing point between you and others is how you look. There's certain aspects of like Aion's character creation that are a little ridiculous, like the height and the weight and the tits. It's not too much to ask to customize my character's physical features in a game where there is targeting to a certain extent, to have more than a handfull of hairstyles and colors, etc.

I've been playing Aion since Chinese Beta, and I still play it, and after these years I still haven't found anyone who looks even remotely close to my character. Maybe I'm the minority here but I like being able to see a character in my mind and put it in a game, and there's games that allow you to do that. This game should be one of those considering how much focus they are putting on you, THE CHARACTER, in this game. In the end these games are RPGs where it's your character in a world, I don't think it's silly at all to want to have a character look how you envision it. It has nothing to do with staring at faces all day as you put it. A lot of people have a certain want in how their character looks, if they didn't guys wouldn't play female characters for the sole reason to watch their asses all day while they play.

I can honestly say I'm very disappointed that this game will have such few options when it comes to character creation.

Oh i agree on that but i was mostly speaking of hair and face options. Having less than 10 hair options is unacceptable today. Silverbreeze laid it out pretty well. If i'm going to be staring at my character for the next 3-5 years, i want as many options as possible.

    Ok, for as much as I hated on the game... it's fun >.>;

Its a single player mmo. Feels like I'm playing DA but in a mmo world. But story is good, keeping me interested. Combat isnt terrible. I def think its better then Rift was ever. At least as a Jedi Counselor you gotta go into pulls thinking ahead or mobs will fuck you up. One thing i really like is that stunning a mob or force lifting them will prevent them from blocking and allow you to do some serious dmg. So when you go into pulls of 3-4 mobs you Force lift one (takes it out of combat for 6 seconds) > run up and stun another > jedi throw stuff at the stunned mob for massive dmg > kill the lesser mobs > then go back to the one you force lifted.

If combat remains this strategic in a group setting I can see it being a lot of fun.

Feels like a single player mmo, but I guess I mainly like it for the lore because Bioware has always been good at telling stories. You do tons of running around which gives the world a bigger feeling, this isnt a bad thing. Like I said before, reminds me of Vanilla XI in that respect of travel. Dunno, if it keeps on this route the game will do well. But I have no idea how face smashing it gets later on and if the difficulty gets easier as you get mroe powerful.

Still looking forward to TERA a lot, but this game ain't terrible aside its obvious shortcomings. If people like WoW and/or Rift I think they would be liking this game. SW:TOR > Rift for sure (imo), but I never liked rift much from the start. Combat always felt clunky in rift.. in TOR the way you fight makes it look like you actually are and there is weight to your movements

Oh yeah, as much as I knocked the VA. it ain't bad. It's well acted and I listen to it for the main quests. Though they give you too many stupid options just to throw them in. A lot of the times its not needed. And really.. if your a Jedi.. whats gonna be the big difference if your a good choice jedi or an evil choice jedi...? I fail to see how that will impact your story later aside just affecting your morality bar

I've thought of this, along with how the camera is in your face all the time. I guess it is a pretty big deal here. Hopefully they add some more options before release, i remember Aion added hairstyles for NA-OB (and only because one of them was the Cloud Strife haircut), but thats really not the same because it was out for a while elsewhere. But part of me says it likely won't happen, which im kinda disappointed about. Maybe there is a demand for more on the beta forums?

game looks good, but yeah I agree, just from the screen shot the UI looks pretty meh. Hopefully they allow for add ons into the game. WoW's base interface isn't exactly the best either.

This was one of my main concerns and i'm happy to hear it has this feeling. The early vids that were leaked made it look like everything took place in confined indoor spaces. I much prefer the huge outdoor open worlds.

One thing that is extremely bothering me and I have no idea how this is even an issue in beta, it should of been resolved in the first alpha: when u train an upgrade to an existing ability, it doesn't replace the alround bound ability. So you have to rebind the ability or u will be using the lesser ranked one. Honestly, wtf were they thinking

You also can't change bar opacity, so all those side bars look hideous since u can't hide unused slots. And if it looks odd that the log is in the upper left hand corner, well it is and u can't move it around

It's not like they have thousands of people playing alpha. Why not feedback it, you know, what you're in beta for.

Hows the actual clothing and armor look? Does it flow or look painted on? This was my beef with LOTRO. The game world was amazing but the characters and armor looked terrible, minus the cloaks which i loved.
