I don't think so, each classes story is unique. Only time it overlaps is the flash points.

I've no idea when the class story starts to pan off and the overall world quest starts to come into play, but i think it does at some point in the game. Even then though, Bioware games have traditionally had high replay values, even if it is the same story.

Sort of. The class stories are all different but if you only did the stories and not all the little quests(which are all the same minus a few lines of changed text pending your current class) you would be severely under leveled without huge grind fests. So every time you do a new class you all do all the same mini quests over and over(except the noob planets but even then 2 classes of the same faction share noob planets and quests)
Doing the mini quests over and over does get redundant. I have every class to 15 in beta and I can tell you its still annoying to do them over and over.

So how much class specific content really is there? Compared to the rest of the leveling quests that is.

And are there alternate places to quest? IE: Is it like WoW/etc. where at X level you will have 2-3ish zones that would be appropriate for questing, or is it more linear?

I don't think there's alternative areas to level in. You basically spend a few levels on a planet and move on to the next one.
Chart with planets and level ranges here:

As for the class content, I think it's where you'll get the majority of your exp from, but you'll still need to do random side quests you get along the way or do the world story arcs and flashpoints so that you're not under-leveled when you leave whichever planet you're on at the time.

The class stories are really good but you would be well behind in levels if you did only them. Quest xp(both class and normy ones) does seem to go a long way toward leveling.
A planet is all one zone basically(there are phased areas tho) and you can pretty much level anywhere on the planet for your level range. Most planets seem to span about 3~8 levels of xping(excluding noob planet which will get you to 10)

You'll wanna do the normal quests unless you love grinding repetitively, or grinding pvp minigames.
the chart is mostly correct but you can easily surpass those level ranges by doing all the quests on the planet. or be way under by just doing the class ones

    From DarthHater site:
    http://darthhater.com/2011/07/28/gam...on-operations/
In this month's issue of GameStar magazine, there is an interview with Gabe Amatangelo on operations, PVP, and more. As part of the interview, Gabe Amatangelo gives us some new insight on the operation sizes players will have a chance to take part in The Old Republic.

Each Raid has 2 sizes, for 8 and 16 heros, as well as ajustable [sic] difficulty levels. The quality of the loot is based on the difficulty setting of the instance." After every bossfight EACH player gets a bag of Rewards", says Lead designer Gabe Amatangelo. "Inside that Bag you can find class specific Items, or Badges which can be used to buy items. You don't have to fight for your rewards."
Credit on the quote goes to Cebo and his thread on the official forum. We'll alert you on any translation updates regarding the magazine as they happen.

That's pretty awesome, I can only imagine the clusterfuck loot distribution would have been with seemingly half the players lining up to play SI on the empire, and virtually no one for IA.

Sounds like its gonna either be a huge grind since the bags will have tokens or w/e that you redeem for gear... or its gonna be easier to gear up since your always guaranteed some sort of loot you can use. and lol @ normal and heroic mode difficuly

Or you'll get badges and a chance at gear, which would make it fairly identical to wow with the exception of competing for said gear.

Not sure how i feel about this. I'm not exactly thrilled with the thought of Bioware distributing my loot for me. On the other hand this does mean loot tables don't have to adjust to the class distribution players make when its out, or vice versa... we'll see.

    His twitter:
BetaCake is being moved to a new host. This will take a day or two before its complete. Thank you for your patience.
Alternates for the hungry til it comes back up
EDIT: just swtor won't be back
Okay, I'll break the news to you guys. we are now closed. Unfortunately the pressure from BioWare is proving to be too much and no one wants to get sued, so I apologize for the inconvenience, but we are gonna sign off gracefully and hope someone else picks up the baton.
http://www.alterswtor.com/ (though this guy just reposts betacake and justswtor stuff, meh)

nice! anxious to see what all they put into this one, and why it took over a week to implement.

Coruscant is growing on me, the more footage from there i see there more impressed i am with it. Just the scale of it with all the buildings, and the cars wooshing across the sky.. very cool environment.

unfortunantly, the background stuff in Coruscant (least in the last build) was very flat. It looks really good in SS's and stuff, but when you see it in action its 2d, pixilated and flat textured. But the same could be said for nearly all the environment textures. Look to some old screenies (even the new ones) and look at the ground. Its very flat and has that flat look. Hopefully this will all be improved upon in the next build
