Anyone who is still seriously playing Aion at this point in time doesn't have a valid opinion on MMOs anyways.

What MMO do you need to play to have a valid opinion?
what?
Oh, trolling
Anyways, installed the new build. They some cleaned up textures, removed/added/modified some skills for all classes. Slightly edited animations but still... Played for about 2 hours and got bored, ended up standing around talking in general chat about FF14 and old SE games. lol.
MMO tastes is a reason why I haven't totally completely knocked SWTOR off my interest level, I have no idea what MMOs people who hate this game actually like. I'm gonna disagree with somebody who dislikes SWTOR when that same person is a fan of Aion or TERA.
How about this: SWTOR vs WoW vs Rift.
why would you lump in tera? tera is its own entity just because of its fighting system
Trolled. Thought you were done responding?
Tbh there aren't any out there currently worth playing. But especially not a failure like Aion. What MMO do you need to play to have a valid opinion?
What game has Bioware released that you consider a failure? I didn't like DA2 much but it sold a ton. I'd put it on par with SC2, which I was also disappointed in. Otherwise every other game both companies have released I've purchased and been very happy with, and I think most people would agree. I do think both companies have gotten worse for their mergers/acquisitions by Activision and EA - especially Blizzard. Some of the decisions that have been made since Wrath of the Lich King released have been mind boggling.Oh, trolling
Exactly.MMO tastes is a reason why I haven't totally completely knocked SWTOR off my interest level, I have no idea what MMOs people who hate this game actually like. I'm gonna disagree with somebody who dislikes SWTOR when that same person is a fan of Aion or TERA.

This is a much more Asian MMO centric board, and generally people that like those MMOs don't like the EQ/WoW/EQ2/Rift's of the genre, and vice versa. I'd never purchase an MMO without trying it myself first anyways, as I want different things from an MMO that other's may not care about.
I like how it started out as a factual argument and now you are stated stuff based on personal opinion and trying to say ppl's opinions are invalid based on your preference. You ran out of stuff pretty fast.
You gonna start calling ppl names next?
Thanks for ignoring every aspect of my argument aside from this one.
Every game since EA bought them out has been terrible, so Dragon Age 2 and now TOR. Highly doubt this is a coincidence. Time will tell though. Fucking lol at the blizzard comment though.
EDIT:
How the fuck is that even a valid reason or argument? TOR, WoW and Rift are all the SAME FUCKING GAME, so of course you compare them and the model is getting old. By your logic we shouldn't compare MMOs that are trying to break the shitty mold the genre has been stuck in for like 8ish years now? Dumbest fucking argument ever.MMO tastes is a reason why I haven't totally completely knocked SWTOR off my interest level, I have no idea what MMOs people who hate this game actually like. The majority of people that like that type of MMO (questing, 5mans, raid endgame) aren't tired of the model as much as they are just tired of WoW and Blizzard's negligence of it lately. RIFT didn't differentiate itself enough from what people are bored of (WoW) and they made the endgame PvE too hard (something Blizzard figured out you can't do in this day and age, this isn't EverQuest) so the casual majority stopped playing. Right now there are a bunch of hardcore PvE players still raiding in RIFT but the turnover is super high because it's burning players out.How the fuck is that even a valid reason or argument? I don't know if SWTOR will last (depends on what Bioware does post launch) but the model itself will always be around, it's the foundation of all MMOs. All the MMOs that have tried to differentiate too much from the model have ended up being failures or niche at best (SWG, EVE).
Activision has been just as bad an influence on Blizzard as EA has been for Bioware, if not worse. Kotick is an idiot.Every game since EA bought them out has been terrible, so Dragon Age 2 and now TOR. Highly doubt this is a coincidence. Time will tell though. The game is fine, I'm more concerned about whether they'll have enough content at launch to keep subscribers for the first three months. The haters are always louder than the people that like the game so I'm not too worried about it. The lack of race diversity is something I honestly don't care too much about.
Regardless, this game will sell like crazy on launch date. The absolute key player right now is content.
Yep.
They already have half a million preorders, still 3 months before release. They can't afford downtime or lag at release like WoW had, especially on the big servers where Blizzard didn't control the population. They also need to keep pumping out content, although they should have some time since it takes longer to get to cap than WoW or RIFT.
I greatly disagree with this.
Rofl @ it being the "foundation of all MMOs". Not even remotely true. MMOs were around based off of different models before WoW, and new ones will be brought to market that take over, sooner or later. Just because some aspects of it remain doesn't mean the model as a whole, exactly as it is, is still viable - it isn't.
The ridiculous fact that you threw out regarding MMOs trying to break off from the "WoW model" failing, pretty much every MMO that's released since WoW have failed to achieve any real success. Including the ones who cloned the model (which were the majority), making your argument essentially bullshit.
So till you have some more examples (that have actively attempted to appeal to a large audience) it seems to me that this model you're touting has more evidence of running out of steam than people not desiring an alternative. It seems to me that people are practically craving something different. There have just been a lack of viable alternatives that were consistently fun to the masses, too many games have tried to "follow the model".
SWG was, overall, just a bad game. Just like FFXIV is a bad game. Eve is pretty much intentionally niche. Lets have this discussion again a few months after GW2 releases and see how your argument holds up when the model gets some real competition from a company with an alternative that's actually attempting to appeal to the masses.
I'm going to name my Wookie companion Jewbacca
first 3ds and now this
you really suck at picking your battles
Can't name your companion because of story reasons and since everything is voice acted. Kinda lame seeing hundred of ppl w/ the same companion all named the same thing lol
Pre-CU it was overall a fairly good game. Post-CU yes I agree that overall the game was bad. But it had certain qualities that I have yet to see other MMOs do as well as it did. Stuff that I still fail to see why some MMOs don't copy. Especially when they share the same brand name.
EDIT: I will admit that I am a little bit biased because SWG was my first subscription MMO, but I can honestly say I have not seen a Space/Vehicle PvP system as good as that was in another MMO. Same goes with the player-town and housing system, that shit was just fun to mess around with and I would spend hours decorating my house with cool looking shit.
I wonder if Lucas had anything to do with the flaws in this game since that fat lard exudes failure. MMOs are a good test because they need to keep their customers to stay afloat. Can't get your money and then get out!
