Hot damn did I pick a good time to get a PS3... getting this on launch. Add me because I have no PSN friends =(

    PSN = jeid7

Also if a mod could take Rokku's post from page 9 with the list of PSN IDs and merge it with the OP that would be awesome.

I found this post on gamefaqs, gives a brief overview of some of the gameplay and character creation mechanics:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genme...topic=47508826

One thing in particular that caught my eye as important info - 1H weapons and spears are basically useless online

    Spoiler: show
One-Hand Weapons and spear: balanced skills with pretty fast attack delay, pretty high defense instead of attack and a couple of status up/down commands.Hint: Use these as SECONDARY skills.High-level quests will make you feel useless with these as main skills.

Two-Hand Sword and Two-Hand Axe:Foccused on attack, HP and elemental attacks.Basically, the tank of the group.

Bow (2-hand): Speed type skill.Fast attack delay, high hit chance and status effects attacks.Use as main with Two hand axe/sword as secondary will make you pretty decent long range damage dealer, but the best common and useful way is a mix of this skill with some magics.

Staff: Support type skill: If you wanna be a magic user, you MUST choose it as secondary skill.Focused on mp, magic power, spell cast time and elemental attacks.

Elemental Magic and Holy Magic: Wizard/Priest of the group.Focused on mp, magic power, spell cast time and the respective magics of the skills.Use these as main with Staff as support is the best way, but Bow + some magic is pretty good too.

Also, I was going to ask a question about the "class" system seeing as it's so open-ended, along with all the resurrection stuff, but I answered my own question with some info I found online, which i compiled and formatted to make it easier for someone with little knowledge of the game to understand:

    Spoiler: show

There are no job classes but instead you can choose how you develop your character. Each level gives you ~3? skill points, and you can distribute them to whatever area of expertise as you like. Maxing out a area of expertise requires roughly 90 points, and there are 8 areas of expertise:

    One-Hand Weapon
    Two-Hand Sword
    Spear (1-hand)
    Bow (2-hand)
    Two-Hand Axe
    Staff
    Elemental Magic
    Holy Magic

(all spells and skills can be viewed in English here: http://wkcinfo.blogspot.com/2008/12/...anslation.html)

As you can see, to max them out you'll need about 720 skill points, but level 50 (the current max level) only gives you roughly 140 skill points. In order to learn every single skill you'll have to go through what's is called reincarnation which is available after you beat the game. Reincarnating at level 50 or higher will give you an extra 40 skill points EACH time and you start back at Lv35. These skill points are cumulative, so each successive reincarnation will add an additional 40. Story characters (i.e. Leonard) are NOT avialble for reincarnation, thus, it's wise to choose what they specialize carefully.

    For example...

Once you reach Lv50, you can choose to rebirth again to Lv35, and you retain all the equipments as well as map and quests unlocked. Once you are Lv35, your skill point you chose before you rebirth will be reset (Lv35*4 = 140 points + 40 points as a bonus for each rebirth = 180 points 1st rebirth, 220 points 2nd, 260 on 3rd, and 300 on 4th, you can choose to rebirth more than 4 times, but bonus maxed out at 4). So there's a maximum of 300 skill points at Lv50 after 4 rebirths.

If you rebirth 4 times, you will have over double points to put in the skills that you want - basically you become stronger after each rebirth. Skill point are capped at 300 so there's no point resurrecting beyond 4 times unless you want to restart your skill tree.

You will be "naked" once you resurrected:
    - all equipment taken off (but remains in inventory)
    - all skills unlearned except for the first skill in each skill tree (all points kept - it's like a respec)
    - all your macros/palettes removed (ugh)
    - everything else is retained

Since each skill takes about 80-90 points to max, you'll want to spend your points wisely. Stat+ skills are almost a given. For online, you'll definitely want an AC charge skill (Action Chip Charge Skill obtained from either spear, staff or 2h sword - certain skills require action chips to be performed during combat) and at least heal 2.

Don't worry about messing up your skill point spending though. At GR9+ with the right weapons it only takes a few hours to get from 35 to 50 solo... additionally it takes about 1h30min to go from 35->50 solo if you have high elemental weapons of the right type even if they are just GR 7 craps... with the new updates the offline experience is calculated differently according to level, which means you could even have your story character (if they are high level) power you through GR10+ mobs.

Haha nah, going by trophies, he/she has only has two games and we only have one in common. Also I noticed you're in NYC. >BO

Anyway even if I wanted to make this a day one purchase, I probably won't be able to play til Thursday at the earliest. I'm probably gonna roll a bow based char because I love abusing status effects.
