As Kia said, definitely feels (and looks for that matter) PSO-ish. Just replace beam weaponry with actual metal and what not.
7/7/8/7 from Famitsu. Normally not a terrible score, but the fact that it's a JRPG and it's Famitsu it has to be all kinds of shitty to score that low. Not sure I'll be picking it up, was never interested in the first place but this makes me worry even more about how it'll be. I'll wait til people whose opinion I can trust says how it is before I jump the gun though.
Does it really need to be said how shady Famitsu is?
They overinflate game scores, not lower them.
I don't recall exclusive information coming from Famitsu. I recall it coming from events like TGS only. And I am pretty sure Level-5 isn't apart of the magazine's black book.
Ha, I didn't even know Japan was already getting this.
i'm looking forward to this game.
From White Knight Chronicles Famitsu review (uh oh) - Page 3 - PS3ForumsSummary:
Lots of optional content.
Big boss battles.
The combat system is simplistic.
Online chat has some issues that the reviewer hopes get patched in the future.
Reviewer #1 mentioned that he wished there was an autorun option because it's hard to chat and fight at the same time.
Offline play is balanced.
You can create your own combos. Fighting is fun.
The SNS system is difficult to use, in the future it would be nice if they patched it.
A beautiful world with huge monsters and intense battles.
Descriptive narrative and events in the single player mode.
The combat system can be repetitive.
Armor synthesis to easily strengthen weapons, is good.
Not complex, easy to get into.
Creating combos is fun, however, the way the menu works could be more polished.
The online mode's future depends on if they upgrade it.
For the time being, the chat function is inconvenient and needs improving.
I heard it's 30 hours-ish too. 70 hours for the online quests seems awfully extreme to me. Something tells me it'll be like PSO where every quest is exactly the same running through the exact same dungeon just to a different destination at the end. Can't remember where I read it unfortunately though, but as I said I'll definitely be waiting for player reviews.
I'll get it either way. I wasted money on Infinite Undiscovery - should have known better by the stupid name. So this will be at the least, 10 times better.
I think the main issue is the lackluster online component and tedious online communication. This may be fixable via PSN sooooo yea. The single player seems ok though.
I was already planning on buying this for the single player, and until I read the article a few weeks ago I didn't even know it was gonna have a multiplayer mode so the famitsu review seems kinda pointless to me, since that isn't what I'm going to be buying the game for.
Also I really, really enjoyed Infinite Undiscovery, I can understand why people had some problems with it but I'm having a blast with item creation and making money from that and upgrading gear, as well as the soundtrack and script. I guess everyone has different tastes though.
Okay. MGS4 and White Knight Chronicles. Now I only need two to three more good PS3 exclusives to justify me getting a PS3.
Uncharted. Ratchet and Clank. Resistance 1 & 2. LittleBigPlanet. WarHawk.
IMO all of those are good. R&C and R1 are less popular but still kick ass.
Folklore is kinda fun. Not a system seller but might be worth picking up if you want an RPG. Only bad thing I can really say about it is you're forced to pretty much redo the missions on a second character to get to the ending. They both have different skills though, and there's some different enemies on eaches stories (aswell as having to use different strategies on the bosses since you have different skills).
I played Folklore until Chapter 5 with both chars... then I sort of just got bored with it.
It was fun while it lasted though.
I couldn't stand Warhawk
I never got all the hype for Uncharted whilst we're on the subject. I played through to the end and was unimpressed by anything but the graphics, which were admittedly superb. Fluid controls but the gameplay was just stale, and I was hoping I would have actually had to think about some sort of puzzles but it was all extremely obvious where to go and what to do. Vehicle sections were total ass too.
I had fun being a terrorist in Warhawk (ask exo and the others).
