Yeah so I accidentally put elemental earth on my Zanbato+4 and now I do shit damage to Golems . Just need my Zanbato to +5 and somehow get 3 Dew drops to make a Rose Thorn and somehow get that to +5.

A lot of work to do...

I do. I'm not too far from gr7, but trying to finish the story to open up all areas for quests

Spears are a one handed weapon and the majority of the skills from it are geared towards holding threat and tanking. They aren't bad weapons, but they aren't really DPS ones either.

I think there's possibly too much of people saying "Longsword or Axe or gtfo" at this point, I haven't seen any bows in action yet, but I've seen dedicated casters tear shit up something fierce.

Would it be worthwhile to focus on the bow tree? Base damage on initial bows seems low but all of the additional skills seem nifty.

I think bows can be made worthwhile if you know where to target the larger enemies, what type of hits/element to hit them with and keep a safe distance. Dunno though, never seen anyone with a bow outside of someone at level 10ish and a NPC that did shit damage.

Bows have an advantage of not having to bring big enemy's to their knees before being able to hit their soft spots... but like Rokku said said one handed weapons like sword and spear are geared more towards tanking. spear does get like 2 or 3 pentathrust like ability's and i think you can get like a 23 hit combo that does quite a bit of damage.

Level, inventory, guild rank etc, as far as I can tell all it does is puts some new chests in the game. No idea if any of it is worthwhile, but given the quality of the majority of chests throughout the game I'm going to go with a no.
