Our family became Catholic when I was in High School. Before that we never went to church. We were Christian/Jewish when I was a kid. My step-dad was Jewish before converting.

I honestly liked it, the only major religion that comes out completely unscathed, yet suffers from the same issues he touches on in others is Hinduism.

Overall I liked it, he kept the tone as funny as he could, but he did ask hard, thinking questions of every religion that were not really answered by anybody but this hilarious priest in the Vatican. The end does get a little depressing, which is natural considering some of the viewpoints that are brought up by these nutjobs he talked to, but overall its definitely worth watching, and I'd be interested to see what the rabbi at the synagogue I used to, and that my family still goes to thinks about it since he was always a more or less a thoughtful guy to have a discussion with (even if he likes Joe Lieberman ). If you liked Borat or Real Time with bill maher youll like it.

My wife really wants to see the movie so we are gonna check it out. I saw on the Daily show forums people are pissed about Bill maher's appearance. Most seemed to have opinions about the movie without even seeing it first.

They feel that Bill was poking fun at religious people. I used to work next to a super religious person at work. I used to ask him about stuff like "why arent Dinosaurs in the bible". He answer was "the devil put them there to confuse us and make us not believe in god" LOL!

I don't get why that elicits whining, after all the point of the movie is to poke fun at organized religion/religious people and the certainty they have they are 100% right, their hypocrisy as well as the irrationality of their behavior. I found it funny that out of all the branches of Christianity and all the religions really only the Catholics really frankly discuss with him the bullshit of it all lol
