# Platforming is entertaining and looks great
# Cinematic combat moves are cool to pull off and impressive to watch
# Elika's presence leads to unique gameplay mechanics.
Cons:
# Really, really easy
# The new prince isn't a good leading man
# Some combat and platforming annoyances.
One of the easiest games you'll play all year
I just now put it in, im reading its only 8 hours so should get through it tonight or tomorrow.
No, and you cant die, but thus far, its alot of fun.
Agreed, i had to make myself stop playing it after cruising through the first four levels/bosses. So far the ONLY difficulty is finding all of the 45 light seeds in every area. So far I haven't been able to find 45/45 yet. The closest i have come is 43/45 on King's Gate... GAH.
Overall though, very fun, and very very pretty to look at. My ONLY gripe so far (and it is very minor admittedly) is that you have to continually press LT or LB to engage Elika in her dialogue. I really wish that when she had something to say, and the "LT" prompt came up, you could just hold LT down and she would say everything at once... hitting it 6-8 times in a row to get her ENTIRE chunk of dialogue annoys me sometimes. See minor grope only.
What puzzles me is the reviews I read said 8 hr game, yet there is a trophy for beating it under 12 hours, I smell bullshit, it is IGN tho, faggots probably didnt play it all the way through.
Really considering this for PS3, but I also want Ratchet and Clank...AAAHHH desicions!!
I played for a little bit last night before falling asleep [on the sofa >.>] and I must say the game is very beautiful and fluid. My only grip I guess is that I hope there is a lot more fighting later on, because the fights always end everytime I start to get a feel for the controls and different combo's. And then it's like 10+ min before another fight lol. Granted I only played for about an hr yesterday and just completed the first area... but overall happy so far!
The Fights are like dances when you get em right though!
So is this a rent or buy? I'm going to play it after this week's finals are finished.
Edit: For someone that's a fan of adventure games like this.
I've only played a few hours due to being so busy, it's a great game. BUT it's about 80% platforming and around 20% actual fighting. This kinda sucks cause the fighting is great fun and really cool to watch. Can't really even call it an action game as in every "area" (akin to a "stage") there is one "lesser" boss and one "main" boss (that's all - no lesser enemies).
If your hard on money you can definantly rent it and beat it in a few days... it's a very beautiful game
(surprised haven't heard more from Kyo on the game!)
Ive been busy too :l sadly, only have a couple hours on it, its a good game, and yes I wish for more combat, although the platforming aspect is enjoyable. One thing I will say if your looking for a challenge its not a hard game, its rather easy, but fun.
I've been busy studying for finals so I'm only about 3 hours in, but I'm enjoying it a lot so far.
Don't buy this game if you're looking for a challenge, but if you're looking for an extremely fluid platformer, this is it.
Yeah, I've only fully healed one zone, cleared all the warrior boss stages. Game would be pull your teeth out hard if you didn't have Elika there to save your butt everytime though hehe
Beat the game, thought it was pretty fun, but the ending annoyed me.
Game is Beautiful artistic wise, love the new "Illustrative" flow of bleek to vivid colors (Healings)
The game is a rental for me, not much replayability (unless trophy/achievements)
Game does get a little too repetitive, same enemy fights with little twists doesn't help conveying that you have 1 up'd your foe
(Hey lets have the main Hero to fight the same boss 5 times, each "round" the boss gains 1 new ability to combat against the player, + spawn generic enemies @ the same spawn point, over & over, until you heal the land, while those generic enemies copy the same amazing ability from the bosses, when they gain it)
Game could have used more puzzles to break up the run to corrupt zone, platforming (4-5 puzzles), kill bad guy, heal land, and collect light orbs, rinse and repeat x 20 (get 25 light orbsfrom killing 5th final form of each boss, of which there are 4)
Combat was good, not all button mashing, more rhythm based thru how your character engaged an enemy
As much as the combo system look to be free will/input, the system was more constricted to the old school way of, only 2-3 combos are effective, while the rest are just there
Gotta love the 14 hit combo, awesome in the beginning, but almost always countered by every enemy 1/4th of the game thru
(It's sad I already know it by heart just like the konami code)
S-S-S-T S-T-X T-S T-O-X-T-S
S = square, T = triangle, X = X, O = O (PS3, duh), space in between = maybe a half second pause
