It was more Gruden's semi-spread "pass to set up the pass" offense that set them up with the right chances, and then just giving Alstott the ball 4 times whenever they got inside the 10, really. Also Johnson playing with a level of understanding unmatched outside of Peyton.

Pacman out at least four games. I think that's probably a relief for him that he's not sitting the rest of the season.

I think the Chargers let him go way too early in development honestly. I can't say they made a bad choice - maybe Rivers just knew that type of offense better? - but I know he wasn't playing at the level he is right now when he was in San Diego.

That may have been it - Johnson's 2002 year was leaps and bounds above his 2001 - but honestly, Dungy had built that team to win. They'd gone to the playoffs several years prior to Gruden becoming coach, but he never had a team that could finish it like they did that year. Most definitely a factor was a change in offensive playstyle, but he had a golden egg fall into his lap, figuratively speaking. It's almost exactly like the situation in San Diego in those terms, but back then switch on the Bucs actually made sense.

As long as they have Portis healthy, that won't matter too much.

I still believe in the tried and trues like the Colts and Chargers who have been good over the past few years...Even if they are struggling at the moment. I think their overall experience, especially the Colts, with the end of the season and the playoffs will pay off. Most of these surprise teams, like the Titans imo, are going to crumble by the end of the season.

I seriously think the Titans being in the top 5 is laughable. The only impressive win came against Jacksonville, and even that isn't that great. They played the Bengals, Texans, Vikings and Ravens...Next up is the Chiefs. If they can make it past the first game against Indy, I'll believe it.

Either way, the league is totally fucked up this year. Half of the teams are looking to be playoff contenders at this point.

I just hope Denver and San Diego are doing what the teams were supposed to do these last couple games In reality the Chargers are a bad call and a single pass from being 5-1, but neither of those matter to me honestly. They started out playing like shit last year too, but I just hope Cooper/Phillips can step it up to make up for Merriman being gone. Jammer needs to play like that every game, and Cromartie needs to stop letting people burn him dammit. Basically, if they play like they did in NE minus Cromartie's stuff, they should be able to recover the season

Didn't Kerry Collins throw for 4,000 yards a couple times in Sean Payton's offense? There are plenty of QB's who would see their numbers explode in that system, not just Brees. Especially when they don't run the ball at all, and a fair share of his throws are dump offs to Bush.
