Yeah I stayed away from all that shit. The concept of having a bot play a video game for me confuses me to no end.

This. I had one single player hack so I could try out whatever gear I wanted, but it was seriously boring, and I used it for about a week. Never hacked or duped online, and I quit right around the time all of the botters and scammers started running all the website links on every server that wasn't private.
I suppose that's why I had such good experiences with other players, especially post 1.10. If someone smelled a bot or an incoming PKer, they'd tell everyone else and we'd all jump to a private server and keep fighting. Those were good times.
Maybe for a year, but honestly the grind to 99 is just too mind numbing... I played legit to my first SC 99 and maybe 80ish HC, at which point I had pretty much standard gear. Then I wanted the rarer stuff (expensive rares, perfect uniques, perfect rune words, etc...) and honestly to get a complete character legit you'd have to play 40 hours a week. Instead of doing that, I used jsp. I don't think it took anything away from the game, I mean I knew the game inside and out by that point anyways.
Let's be honest here, nobody really played closed bnet at a high level completely legit. If you were playing in 1.09 era and traded for SoJ's - mostly dupes. If you were playing in 1.10 onward and traded for high runes - mostly dupes. And if a high rune wasn't a dupe it most likely came from a bot, just the way things were.
What does said hack do?
I ask because you can't enter through the cow portal while flagged for pvp so I'm guessing it was a trapasin or a sorc?
EDIT: Also relevant...
Barbarian set 13 & 14
Demon Hunter set 15
Monk set 10
Witch Doctor set 16
Wizard set 13
Those are my favorites^
Trigger hack created a TP, used it, and hostiled everyone as a single motion. Projectiles that were in-flight would then target and hit the people you just hostiled (particularly Guided Arrows with 100% pierce)

This is why you really couldn't play in public games safely. Especially not without the godly hacked/cheated items that pushed life globes north of 4k (back in my day we advised 1k+ in Hell, 1.5k+ for melee characters lol)
I played closed bnet at high level completely legit, so speak for yourself. Never had an enigma or BotD or any of those runewords that were guaranteed to be made with duped runes; none of that shit was really necessary to be successful at the game.
Did eventually find every rune except 2 or 3 throughout my extensive playtime, but usually I just gave them away if I didn't have an immediate use for them.
Well I guess "at a high level" is pretty subjective here... You can make *some* builds decent without high rune runewords, but you'll never beat a properly played character that has said items.
Anyways I only used bots because I wanted to try every job maxed out with multiple builds. If you take just 3 builds from each class that's 21 jobs to 95+ for finished builds - which is absolutely crazy. I don't feel like botting took away from the game, rather it allowed me to play every aspect of the game without wasting my time grinding. Grinding is not fun.
I was able to build some fun stuff, full griswolds paladin was probably my favorite and it took forever to put that set together, even with botting. Anyways I never duped or even sought out duped gear, it's just that when you traded for extremely rare items there was always a good chance it was a dupe.
I played a bit of D2 but never got into it online. I was thinking about getting this game but what the hell did I just watch in Aurik's video?
Guy casted a bunch of spells that linger around, used a hack or something which hostiles everyone, creates a town portal and walks through it. You then hope that your spells that lingered around kill the other players down there...I think
Hey guys, don't know if this is allowed or not, but my friends and I at Ballernerd.com are putting together a video contest for a free Diablo III game when it releases. All you guys have to do is put together a video of yourselves with some iteration of "Ballernerd" in it. You're free to come up with any kinds of ideas for the video as you wish (just no porno!), so be creative!
We hope that the winner of the contest will reply quickly enough once they're chosen so that we can ship the game to you so you get it on the release date.
Here's the link to our Youtube video/channel for more info on the contest![]()
Best of luck to you all, and thanks for bein BG!
This thread is making me want to play D2 again...
My buddy and I have been doing this on D2.
We make the char we're going to play with and then we use some sort of multi instance and bring 3 mules in each to have a 8 player game. Then we just play like normal.
We're around 61 atm he died earlier this week so we start new chars everytime one of us dies and we do builds that complement each other. Working really nice.
On bnet or direct connection?
New interesting news..
I like said changes :D
diablo.incgamers.com had the news a few days ago![]()
On 3/19 they posted datamined info about the system, and a vague blue post from Bashiok confirming said system. Yesterday, 3/21, they of course posted an official announcement detailing the basics of Nephalem Valor. Quit being such an idiot, it is in fact interesting news. Cute emoticon though
Just sayin, that's the best place to get your d3 info...days ahead on virtually every story. No need to be so mad.
