Constant connection, even for purely single player games.
Was a terrible idea when Ubisoft did it and it's a terrible idea here.

Been having fun on DH, but I feel a lot weaker compared to my Wizard buddy. Might be a gear issue, may just be the class. Not entirely sure yet. I'm just a bit miffed in that tinkering with some of the DH abilities 14+, by design they're just outright inferior about how they go about doing what they do. I feel like Rapid Fire should be stronger since you need to remain stationary and adjust your aim, but at the same time, I've seen other finishers pack a similar punch as one-off. Oh well, need to dabble more in runes to find a good fit. Already pretty easy to tell what mobs are gonna be total dicks in higher difficulties.
Heh, thats an immediate no sale for me. I've always been against that idea since Ubisoft started doing it, but after having a 15 hour internet outage at my house yesterday, I just can't accept the "but who doesn't have internet these days ... lolz" arguments. They never take into account internet outages, rural residents, or travel with no free wifi.
Oh well, no loss for me, you may resume staring at your $60 logon screens I've been hearing so much about.
While there's truth to things eventually stabilizing and getter better, yeah, I'm still of the mind the lack of true SP and/or direct connect option is dumb. People are gonna hack this shit eventually.
I agree with you and think it's stupid as well but HONESTLY how often are you without internet? In the last 2 years I've been w/o it for maybe less then 1% of the time. I can understand there are certain people more affect by this but the only time I don't have it is the 2-3 wind storms we get here in Michigan with 50mph winds making falling branches/tress on the lines which is usually fixed in 24-48 hours. The game is still great and I think you are missing out. Just have another game as a back up and play that when you don't have it.
EDIT: DAMMIT BLIZZ YOU'RE 5 MIN LATE
Main agitation from my POV is that when I go out on a patrol for 3+ months and only have internet on my personal laptop when we pull into a foreign country, I just straight can't play. Diablo II is a savior for people's sanity @ my unit, and alot of us were pretty miffed when they announced it.
And then of course Torchlight II gets delayed and ):
Welcome to 10, 20, and 40 pages ago, you may continue![]()
So anyone find any gems? I found my first one(chipped ruby) in A2 and my first socketable shortly after. Just wondering when we can start seeing things drop and what grades.
EDIT: Good news is servers went from 'down' to "busy" so shit be workin soon I hope.
battle.net websites dead now. lol.
Aside from my glorious pair of magefists, not enjoying this gaming experience at all so far..
But then again, all launches suck. This game will be great after some band-aids
Indeed i laugh at people saying I will return my game because servers are down.
I have yet to see a game with no servers problem duyring 2-3 days at least
Servers up, all my achievements gone.
Well, I'm gonna try to avoid getting into a "internet required vs no internet required" debate, especially since the only reason I knew this game was releasing this month is due to a few coworkers acting like today was some sort of religious holiday, but I'll say this:
It's not about how easily I can do something else or what percent of the time my internet is down, its about the fact that SP games that require internet connection are stupid DRM and nothing more. Now, it just so happens that the wiring in my apt complex is shitty (it used to be MUCH worse until a Verizon tech came found out that the wiring continued down the wall and was lying severed in a pool of water under the rug in a furnace closet), but honestly that has 0 effect on my opinion on the matter. Even if my internet connection was up 100% of the time, does that make it any less stupid for me to be against this type of DRM? I say no.
Anyway, thats my opinion, and its no big deal, figured I would just ask to see if what I heard was true ... and it is ... and I'm fine with not buying it, like i said, was more of a nostalgia thing from hearing people talk about it today (or bitch as the case seems to be)
Edit: Oh, I will also point out as an MMO player I accept MMO's as the exception for obvious reasons, just thought I'd add that.
Anyone who got a phycial box have an extra guest pass I can give my friend, apparently my digital one doesn't get a passPM me if you have it.
The official forums are awesome right now. I do agree with the off-line single player thing. Playing the game in off-line mode is better than not playing at all.
Also, why are people calling D3 a MMO?
When I exit a game and go to the AH for example, then resume my game all the maps I have explored are gone. What's the deal with that does the map redraw itself every time you leave a game even if it's the same game you had going?
What's the point of global accounts if achievements/characters don't carry over between Battle.net regions?
Time to pick which group of friends I like better I guess.
