    I love me some Nephalem Valor. Got it up to 5 charges and Hell Diablo dropped me 5 each blues and rares. None of it was usable really but hell if there's not a better chance of getting usable stuff out of 10 drops over the normal 2-3.

    *edit* Also, lol @ how bad Inferno really is. One step into the church and I got fucking wrecked by a pack of bats that had waller, mortar, fast, and extra HP. No room to move/kite + nasty mods like that = leave the game, lol.

    It's a buff you start getting at level 60. Everytime you kill a champion pack or elite pack (super-uniques don't work) you get one level of the buff. Each level forces more/better drops from the next big boss you fight. I'm not sure if it works on bosses like SK or Mahgda, but it definitely works on act bosses. Also, it caps at level 5, has a duration of up to 30 minutes (killing another champ/elite pack resets the timer to 30 minutes), and wears if you change your skill setup.

    They nerfed the healing + shield mantra into oblivion while they come up with a replacement. Seems monks were able to spam this a speed faster than the 2 second duration, thus were able to stay alive in inferno.

    Basically they nerfed any ability that lets you toe to toe with an Inferno mob ... Wiz Shield, DH Smokescreen, and Monk Mantra. Smokescreen is the only one that still seems to be usable post nerf.

    Translation? So it'll only absorb 100% of your life? So if you have 14k it'll only absorb 14k? So if you get hit for 28k you still die?

    So yeah, if when calculating the 35% of health you're supposed to take, if the remaining prevented damage is > max life, you die anyway. So now you need VIT to make the ability work.

    In your eaxmple (14,000 hp), you'd die if you took 18,901+ damage .... Shield would cap you to 35% damage or 4,900 damage. This means the shield deflected 14,001 hp of damage. This is > 100% of your hp so you die anyway.

    Well, it's not 35% now, it's 100%. So a 200% hit will instagib you where a 199% hit will not?

    No, 135% or greater is instagib.

    Ths shield still works as before .. any single shot that does >35% of your HP will be reduced to 35%. The new caveat is, if the amount prevented by that reduction is >100% of your max HP, then you die anyway.

    So, Wizard has 10,000 HP. Any hit that does > 3500 damage is reduced to 3500 damage. Now here's two examples under old and new systems.

    Hit for 10,000 Damage (This will be the same pre and post patch)

    Old System: Damage Capped to 3500 .... Shield has effectively prevented 6500. You live
    New System: Damage Capped to 3500 .... Shield has effectively prevented 6500. You live

    Hit for 50,000 Damage (This is why you will die in Inferno now)

    Old System: Damage Capped to 3500 .... Shield has effectively prevented 46500. You live
    New System: Damage Capped to 3500 .... Shield has effectively prevented 46500. 46500 > 10000 ... You die.

    Kite shit.

    Honestly I didn't discover smoke screen until NM diablo and it honestly made everything SUPER easy. Just need to learn to play DH the right way.

    Yeah.. I've never actually played DH with Smokescreen the same way. It's just a quick 'get the fuck out' skill for me and always has been.. just can't run for 2 seconds. I use the 35% movement speed one, though.

    I've already said previously my one complaint is the legendary drop rate. totally agree

    I've killed 37,000 demons and no orange letters. also, like i said. guess i'll just need nephvalor later and score the end-game we want anyway

    I'm not too bitter there aren't that many Biggin's Bonnets / Iceblinks to level with, but I do wish I saw more than ZERO in 37,000 kills

    No. It merely says that it stops aborbing the extra damage at that point. You could still take a 150% max HP hit. You'd get hit for 50% of your max HP (as opposed to the expected 35%). The shield eats 100%, and leaves you to handle the rest.

    It would indeed take a 200% hit in order to kill you if you were at max HP.

    I'm really trying to get into the spirit of what they're doing, but it just feels like SE patching AV. "HEY! You aren't supposed to be doing it like that! Stop it, you're having too much fun!"

    I know some people enjoy the punishing level of difficulty, and I can definitely see the value to the accomplishment once you do overcome Inferno. I like that they're preserving that, so that doing well in higher difficulties is actually a rare and valuable thing. I just wish Blizzard seemed more focused on the "fun" part of this game.
