Bashiok is my hero. How he deals with the amount of qq daily blows my mind.
To be fair, when you essentially say that you haven't tested inferno hard enough to find exploits, instead waiting to let the players do it for you, and are using the early players as lab mice to root out what you deem to be "exploits", you're going to catch heat from people. Nevermind the fact that those "exploiters" have already flooded the market with Inferno gear that seemingly does not drop in hell, yet is needed now that the "exploits" are gone, simply to wade into act 1 inferno. I mean, these are day 2 exploits, and you've had who knows how long to test inferno, and it was an extremely small portion of the playerbase that has even made it to inferno yet.

Bashiok is gonna have to deal with QQ in every game, everywhere, but much of the QQ on this subject is legitmate. I see no other way for a monk to do anything in Inferno other than kite until Serenity is off of cooldown, hit things for 3 seconds, then kite again. I can't imagine that being fun at all.

I honestly think their approach is genius. Over tune content to flush out the over powered builds, fix them, then rebalance the content. The game will be very well polished and none of this could have really gotten done with internal QA. Players will always be way more clever than QA.

Also confirmed session spoofing was a load of shit. Told you so etc:

Over the past couple of days, players have expressed concerns over the possibility of Battle.net account compromises. First and foremost, we want to make it clear that the Battle.net and Diablo III servers have not been compromised. In addition, the number of Diablo III players who’ve contacted customer service to report a potential compromise of their personal account has been extremely small. In all of the individual Diablo III-related compromise cases we’ve investigated, none have occurred after a physical Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator app was attached to the player’s account, and we have yet to find any situation where a Diablo III player’s account was accessed outside of “traditional” compromise methods (i.e. someone logging using an account’s login email and password).
To that end, we’ve also seen discussions regarding the possibility of account compromises occurring in ways that didn’t involve these “traditional” methods — for example, by “session spoofing” a player’s identity after he or she joins a public game. Regarding this specific example, we’ve looked into the issue and found no evidence to indicate compromises are occurring in this fashion, and we’ve determined the methods being suggested to do so are technically impossible. However, you have our assurance that we’ll continue to investigate reports such as these and keep you informed of important updates.

Runewords didn't become the beasts they became until ladder play opened, I don't get why people are so lolmad over this.

Some uniques were really good in Classic D2, Silks, SoJ(duh), Iceblink(every WW barb needed that shit), ume's lament to name a few.

If you were a barb on D2 classic it was all about finding that big dmg dual leech Lance with IAS, attack rating or executioner sword. Dual leech jewelry with resists/AR/life etc.

If you were a caster you were a bit more limited because the starter uniques were really good because of +skills.

The item progression is fine imo, in D1 blues with the right rolls were the best items in the game, Saintly bastard sword of the stars = you pwned everything in the fucking face on hell as a warrior.

this is all right on, yep. thanks lord, glad i'm not the only diablo fan looking at it like this

to me, it's not like wtf 1996 to 2000 to 2012 now, LERN FRUM MISTAKE BLIZZ. keep doing Diablo, for the most part, how Blizzard does Diablo. I know a lot of internet simpletons who want the BEST RAREST HARDEST LATEST HIGHEST LEVEL now now now. I think Blizzard is a little ahead of you guys in terms of future-mindedness for the game's combat progression, item progression, skill variation. They also -know and appreciate- they simply cannot replicate the launch and the players playing. Absolutely this will be the catalyst for much change over the coming years. They welcome it; and personally, from their history in WoW/SC2/D2 alone, I'm pretty confident it'll remain and awesome and fun and changing for the better. (yes some items or abilities WILL become less useful after progression, after content patches, after expansions; diablo is diablo. online game is online game. blizzard game is blizzard game)

    omfg looool:

Bashiok how the f did you get a job at blizzard? You must be really good at convincing people. How about instead of someone from PR telling us about inferno, can we get one of the devs to give us information that makes sense?

I'm, like, SUPER good at banning people. Super good. So they were like, want a job? And I was like "Only if high ilvl blue items can NEVER be as good as low ilvl Legendaries" and they were like "DEAL". I'm just as mad as you, man. Broken. I don't want to equip a blue item. I want to be able to rush into Inferno and begin farming it as soon as I want to. That's what Diablo is about. It's about a new game with a new difficulty level being just like a previous game without it.

It's a good idea, sure, but I still it's embarrassing nobody thought smokescreen/discipline would be broken. I didn't because I didn't know invisible meant in the tooltip, but had I known I could have told you after a few hours of looking over wizard/DH/WD abilities in the skill calculator(small tangent, but some of the descriptions on the abilities are plain wrong - critical hits have a CHANCE to reduce cooldowns?) Critical mass builds is the only thing I could understand being overlooked(although a passive that takes a second off of all cooldowns should have had more scrutiny on it) since it means considering a shit ton of other abilities in tandem make for really fast and separate damage numbers that can individually crit.

And with inferno being what it should be how was force armor not caught? If every class is SUPPOSED to die in 1 hit from the higher level stuff who didn't catch an ability making sure you survive up to the 3rd hit wasn't going to be OP, aside from the fact that forcing low max hp with lots of regen/leeching would be a dominant strategy?

I thought WD would be the first to be "op" since it looked like their passives could make for unlimited mana and be able to fuck shit up by spamming high cost spells and that would get a community raving first. But it turns out WD is the only balanced class to come out of D3 lol

And everyone should have known melee classes would be trash or ridiculously OP. Either you can stand toe to toe with inferno, which would make you broken, or you couldn't and you'd be useless. Kiting is just too strong on ranged classes for there to be true melees. No way they could get barb/monk right from the get-go if they overlooked wizard/DH so badly

Do you think there'll be tweaks to barb and monk to make them inferno-viable? I don't want to get facerolled in inferno and I really don't want to farm up the stupid nice gear Kripparian has, jesus. Dude's decked out.

They're working on an address for the masses now. We should see their assessment of the situation and their direction for balancing things, within a couple days I'd guess.

Our group has been doing this since last week. In most situations you have no choice but to terrain exploit some of the elites.

Do you think Blizzard's way of handling D3 is worse or better than how Elder Scrolls games get launched with the expectation that mods will complete the game for the devs?

08 valor valk etc. I think it'll be like that. First patch will update items and we'll be stuck with the shit that is now. I'm fine with that.

I've started playing HC because in terms of gameplay, at the moment HC is the only way to roll.

Think about it, no one in HC was able to chest farm inferno, no one in HC was able to even play inferno. The AH isn't flooded with OP items that make farming anything before act4 useless. It's basically Diablo III without inferno (which was absolutely positively AWESOME) and I'm fine with that. I can farm hell without thinking to myself "This sucks." It brings back the D2 in Diablo.
