Im loving DH so far, but you have to play abselutely perfect ie. watch the mechanic or you're fucked. Gearing for VIT/resist is abselutely useless for DH, 49k HP 700 resist build still get 1 shotted on act 3 onward.

I have a 60 Monk and can't get past Act 1 Inferno. I would like to say I don't suck at the game, but my gear just is lacking so hard. So I've been working on a Sorc on the side (level 40) and I was having a lot of fun on that, near the end of Act 2 on Nightmare and I'm pretty much untouchable. I think a mix of Wizard/Monk as two mains is a good combo for different Inferno farming situations, if I can ever get my gear up there to be able to survive things like that. How are you gear/playing Monk to do things like that Zanz? Also add me bud.
Not quite as high as you, but i have have to rely on sanc to survive the nasty shit. Pretty sad. Monk is really about the high dps weapons. Once i upgraded i was doing much better just trying to kill shit before the 3 sec of sanc was up.
armor?
and can you get.. say, 58k+ hp and 850+ resist all? and 6.5k+ armor? (6k?) wondering what those numbers might do.
I find it hard Blizzard wouldn't make it feasible (although very difficult equipment/affix-wise) for a Demon Hunter to take at least 2-3 hits (not counting mounted unit stomps or oppressor charges or corrupted angel charges, Azmodan meteors, etc. [these are some 'spiky' damage examples i expect to be redefined, hopefully only subtly] but counting a lot of trash melee swings or solid projectile hits) all the way through the 16th act. i think you gotta be very close; 49k hp and 700 all sounds very close to where you need to be
the spiky stuff probably won't 1-shot post-1.0.3 or whenever, but i think it's fair to expect those to still do 50-75% of a full globe, at least til you're rolling deep on perfect gear tapping your feet for xpack1
The problem is our passive defensive abilities aren't very good. Sentry lowers dmg taken by 15% but is an immobile turret. It's fantastic when you're running in a group with a tank, but not so much when you're soloing by yourself. Shadow Power with Gloom (-65% dmg) looks great, until you realize it costs the same amount of Discipline as Smokescreen and only lasts 3 seconds (absolutely great ability for Reflect packs, but it's generally a hard choice to take it over Vault). Looking over at that, it's no wonder the large majority of DH's past Act 3 all go full glass cannon build.
That being said, I have no doubt that a tanky DH geared with the best vit/all resist items will do great in A3 and A4. But here's the thing: why do that (unless you're a hardcore player) when you are able to accomplish the same thing with a glass cannon build that requires much less gear in comparison?
Even in act 2 hell with 30k HP I can only take a few hits before I die. Depends on the monsters, normal mobs I survive, but champions can kill me quick. I kill fast enough with 5k DPS, but certain monster affixes just makes me give up. I'm thinking it might be better to try and get Dodge up as high as possible... So you don't get hit in the first place. When kiting, I can survive surprisingly good with a dodge chance of (if I remember right) 26%.
I'm looking at you, invulnerable minions. I'm extremely unlucky too, I get invulnerable minions, vortex or fast all the frikkin' time. None of the damage affixes are troublesome and can be killed easily enough since mobs don't actually touch me that often.
Oh hey our friends are back

Man, the bows/crossbows prices are getting pretty outrageous on the AH lol. Actually, scratch that, everything on the AH is becoming overpriced. Gold inflation is in full swing and I'm pretty much just keeping to D2jsp/official D3 trading forums where the prices are a lot more reasonable.
It's because of the bug that let people skip to act 4 inferno and start churning out shit way before they should have been able to. It inflated the economy really quick and I doubt it'll ever recover.
I can hardly do anything in Act IV without getting shit stomped. I can beat the first boss and clear a few waves, but holy fuck.
Yeah. Once the RMAH opens expect the gold AH to only contain vendor trash / mediocre items. =/
Socketed ethereal arkaines valor for 40&
I'm sure it will be the other way around. Everything will be on the gold ah with gold being the primary thing sold on the rmah. Of course though this will cause the gold ah to inflate even more. Fun times.
There really isn't enough goldsink in the game. Repairing should have been 50x more expensive on lv 60 gear, so that these glass cannon builds spend as much money as they generate.
I think the blacksmith would have been enough of a goldsink, if it was actually worth it to use him instead of spending that money at the AH.
The blacksmith is way too expensive. I got him to lvl 7 then stopped 'cause I never used him once. The gear I could have bought using that money instead would have been far more beneficial.
I got my blacksmith and jeweler to 10 but the blacksmith hasn't made me anything decent. And I have 2 60s I could roll decent stats for. Considering starting my wizard rather than bashing my head into my desk doing tons of skeleton king runs so i can keep progressing.
You think Skele King runs are bad?
I've noticed a new Pindleskin run method. People join a An Act 1 Quest 3 game, go to the third waypoint and grab everything not nailed down, go to the second waypoint and raid the possible dungeon spawns, and then go down and kill the wife, and leave.
