I guess since its the official FAQ, that has to be the most accurate source out there. Going with that. Suddenly i don't care about any of this drama any more
You have two options every times you sell something for real money
    -cash out
-send it to your blizzard account

If you do the latter, you won't be able to get your hand on that money, but you will be able to use it again on the auction, in blizzard shop, or pay your wow membership with it. The reason they gave us is because of legal issue, they would have to be registered as a bank to let you do that...or something like this.

However, you could just buy/resell gold and cash out on that transaction instead if you want to get money out of your account.

I don't understand all this nerd rage. The odds are that 99% of the people crying never did any transaction in D2, and probably wouldn't have done any if Diablo 3 had no AH. It was not an important part of the game, and still won't be. And no, the duped SoJ market wasnt "vital" to this series.

Yes, Blizzard is going to make money out of this, but you will not be forced to use this auction service they provide you. If you want to play the games like you did before, you can easily do so. If you want make a few dollar using it, you will be able to do so withing the game rules, and if you want to buy gear for real money...I feel bad for you, but you're paying for everyone.

What's next? People are going to cry that since ebay exists, they are forced to sell all their useless shit. or that ebay is stealing their money? If you're not going to make money posting something on any auction, then don't fucking do it. And if you can make money and you believe it's worth the trouble, then more power to you.

Why are we calling this a casino when we could call it an auction. That's exactly what it is.

Do you not understand that taking an otherwise risky/expensive practice of RMT that the average player wouldn't bother with, and handing it to everyone on a platter is going to introduce it into the online gaming experience at a much greater concentration?

No, it won't affect single player, or LAN groups, or playing online with known people... but if you wanted to have that often prized feeling of accomplishment by getting rare drops and showing them off in an online setting... and victory in a PvP setting due to your hard work and farming... it's entirely gone.

Yeah, it's always been diminished to a degree because of the RMT that's always been there. Now it's just straight up gone.

Also, as others have stated, Blizzard has a massive following and I fear for other developers following suit just because of the impact they have on the masses.

Precisely. No one is pretending that this isn't the case. However, in this type of game, it's a huge deal as farming ultra-rare randomly-generated drops is the primary draw of the entire fucking Diablo franchise.

They pulled out the Diablo 3 puppy, everyone goes "awww" with excitement... and then they kicked it as hard as they could, leaving the brain-damaged dog for you to play with.

Exactly, the fun of Diablo has always been getting the drops. Never has it been playing with the drops or using them (Which is extremely ironic). Whenever you get a drop, it's like checking it off a list. Much like an achievement you earn on some games. But I can't imagine playing a game and paying for all the achievements at the outset.

I remember during the lobby portions of Diablo II it would show all the players in the current realm at the bottom of the screen. They were all dressed like Hobos because it was their magic find gear.

    ---

People purchasing items will really destroy the longevity of their game. And in summary, will result in more money played for less time enjoyed. It's wholly ironic. But once you get everything you want- you tend to quit, ask your old FFXI friends.

I like to shoot things. getting gear is yes fun but I never felt the need to brag to others when I got X gear for 1 & 2.

Call me crazy, I play games for the game play.

Diablo II wasn't thrilling gameplay. It was Baal runs, Mephisto runs and Bloody Hills runs. With PvP and PKing inbetween.

Was the allure of collecting ears and salvaging other people's gold in PVP that delicious?

You break it down to its core and yes, the dungeon-crawler genre is about trundling through dank, dark areas and finding the best loot in the game through hook or crook.

It seems that with D3, finding that loot is only going to be through hook or crook.

Edit: So what class did you use, Ksandra? Were you a hammerdin, pressing a single button the entire time? How about a Burizon? 1 or 2 buttons for multi or guided arrow? Javazon? 1 button for lightning fury? Chargadin? A single button for charge, and maybe a smite here and there? Sorc? One button for frozen orb or perhaps hydra?

Yeah, the gameplay is/was fun. As I said, trawling through dungeons in search of things to kill, just like a hobo trawling through garbage cans in search of precious nom noms is fun, but you're deluding yourself if you're simply going to use the "I play games to play" card, especially with a dungeon crawler.

The plot was decent, but the only dungeon crawler I ever played strictly for the plot was Dungeon Siege II.

keep in mind I didn't do much of the diablo 2 online outside of with friends. Fuck getting killed the second I'd make a character. played through the offline several times though.

Also, keep in mind when those games came out and what else we had to offer, it was fucking amazing then. I mean holy crap the first 1 came out in '96.

I joined other servers with people and killed their Mephistos over and over just so that the drop pool would be better. Shiiiiiit.
