I got a unique elite valor Baalrog skin and then a week later my account got stolen by my best in game friend.
+2 to all skills and a bunch of stuff that varied on your Clvl, it was 1.07 too. So it later was nerfed.

well, again though this wasn't an mmo so....after doing it for awhile...we just stopped playing and moved onto something else. I could kinda see the current gen mentality of playing a game for forever because of a lot of gamers have played some type of MMO at this point, but back in 2000? Not so much.
Again, not that I don't believe it, I just never heard or thought about it until this thread. It just feels so weird when I think about when I played it back then. I mean most posters are younger than me so as is they were probably teenagers..iono lol

Blizzard 'working hard' to ship Diablo 3 this year, but no promises
Today's Activision Blizzard earnings release includes the following disclaimer: "Since Blizzard Entertainment has not confirmed a launch date for its next global release, the company's calendar year outlook at this time does not include a new game from Blizzard in 2011."
But before you go tweetbooking about how Diablo 3 is never coming out, allow Blizz prez and co-founder Mike Morhaime a chance to address your concerns. "We are still working hard to ship the game before the end of the year; however, we're not ready to commit to a release date at this time," Morhaime told investors during a call this afternoon.
While Morhaime may not be sure if the retail box will be in stores before 2012, he's more confident that you'll be playing it in some capacity. "Diablo 3 is still on track to go into external beta testing later this quarter," Morhaime said. "We are very much looking forward to getting the beta into the hands of our players and collecting their feedback for the final phase of development."
Unlike many public(ity) betas, Morhaime insists this feedback is significant for Diablo 3. "There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to putting out a complex release like Diablo 3," Morhaime said. "We talked about the new auction house technology which has not been fully tested. We're not yet in beta and really it's just going to come down to when the game is ready for prime-time."
In fact, it sounds like Blizzard is waiting on the feedback from the beta before it makes a final decision on whether or not to release D3 this year. "We'll know more when we hit beta and we'll know more when we put some of these new systems into test. It's a brand new infrastructure, with a lot of complex moving parts." If you want Diablo 3 sooner than later, our advice is to join the beta and leave effusively positive feedback. It's a fool-proof plan!
Hey I played a shitload of d2 and didn't play for items. Game was a hell of a lot of fun when you had a few dozen friends doing whatever random stuff any time of day. Must have fullcleared every part of act 3-5 a hundred times each.
MF was boring.
yeah, ive cleared the game on many characters with friends and never just did mf runs
While MFing was about the eventual end state of D2 for anyone who played it for an extended duration, I figure why people would varied. Some just wanted to be able to pwn PvE. Others did it to fuel PvP. Some just wanted to be able to MF even better. Such could then carry over to hardcore. Honestly, I was never a fan of the game's default method of itemization. Items from Act 1 normal should not be showing up in Act 5 hell, for example. And all classes certainly weren't created equal.
Well, there was limited replay value in playing different classes, at least if you did lan/friend runs. That was what I liked most about my time in D2, leveling up different classes/builds with friends up to hell. Most of the time, we would end up bored of MF-runs pretty quickly after that and quit again for awhile. So rather than continued gameplay it was more like "hey, we should play D2 that game was so fun" > "yeah now we're all pretty high level with decent cheap gear, time to farm" > "this shit is boring why the fuck am I farming again?" > quit > back to step 1 (weeks/months/years) later. Of course, the time between step 1 and step 2 where you actually level the characters (not power level), was really fun.
Some of those times I did get a bit into farming for awhile, but I always got turned off by how shitty the trading system and community was. Full to the brim with scammers and assholes, and the legit people were hard enough to find jumping from random ass trade game to trade game. But it was either that or tread into the equally annoying sesspool of d2jsp and the like. Hopefully the very concept of an AH (gold or real), will alleviate most of that garbage and make trading less of a pain in the ass.

Sweet ty for dem links
I never really did any MFing, I mostly sold/traded/scammed to get what I wanted. That was a hell of a lot more fun than MF runs.
oh yeah, and in the early days we'd bet items on duels.
I used to play Diablo 2 alot and as many other have said it got to the point I only played for MF'ing as well.
Diablo 2 in terms of game wasnt very big. It didnt take very long to play through it really, though the MF part of it I found pretty addicting. I havent played the game in a really long though.
Back to Diablo 3 though, have they said how big this game is going to be? like in terms of map size. For how long they have been working on it, you would assume it would be huge but was wondering if they have said anything about that. I havent really followed too much about it regarding the news, I've checked out the character classes and trailers and stuff though.
