That's not even talking about the people with retarded characters. Someone went made a thread called "I'm afraid some classes will be a requirement" and showed a full-heal monk and tank barb and claimed that, since only monk can be a full-time healer, it will be a requirement in every game.

Dude obviously never played a Diablo game before.

Lol... Obviously not. I guess he didn't notice how many health bobble thing dropped. Everyone can go whatever build they want and be successful. It's just how Diablo works. You just bring more people for fun/quicker runs. Not because it's necessary.

The post I made, I think was more saying no public beta test, only closed beta.

Also the 4 player thing doesn't bother me, I've almost always exclusively played alone on bnet unless I have rl friends that got into it then we would run together. But even then that's only 1 or 2 people extra. I'm glad that what drops for you goes to you, but I don't like that you can't drop trade. That's pretty bullshit because that's how I would xfer items between my characters.

However this was posted today on incgames

    http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/com...rge-of-release

Blizzard’s own Zarhym brightened up the mood by saying that the Beta is on the “final stage” of being released. Yes I know what you’re thinking, “Yeah we’ve heard that before!” but here is what Blizzard’s Zarhym had to say in a response to a user who asked why “Blizzard is so opposed to increasing the amount of testers”.
    Blizzard Quote:
    1. Start with a small sample audience to test stability
    2. Take bug and crash report feedback; act on them quickly
    3. Release new patches to make some very necessary changes in the small test environment
    4. Keep testing stability while adding new battle.net/infrastructure components
    5. If everything is running incredibly smooth after steps 1-4, invite people from the general public to open the flood gates on stress testing and get focused gameplay feedback/bug reports

This is a very layman’s description, but the point is we have to slowly throttle in more people to test the game as we continue to create new builds and work out new battle.net functionality. Once the environment is stable and many of the core features are there, we then start to invite the masses.

I’d feel remiss in not mentioning this: we absolutely want everyone to play this game as soon as possible. But to make that a reality, we must first excel in both content and deliverance. (So let’s put on our classics and we’ll have a little dance, shall we?)

D3 forums are going crazy right now. Apparently the Press/Media have received their invites. It was my understanding that this is supposed to indicate public closed beta starting so maybe some lucky regular Joes will start seeing invites too?

Probably soon but not yet. My understanding is that press has a longer beta (ie, all of act 1?) so they'll do them in separate chunks most likely.

odon mentioned 5 pm friday as when to look for the beta invites, and since he's in F&F i'm guessing he has a pretty good idea.

We're talking about E&S, not successive rounds of F&F, but thanks for chiming in with a useless addendum.

The Diablo III Beta Is Now Live
by Blizzard Entertainment Sep 20, 2011 11:08 AM PDT

The Diablo III Beta Is Now Live

The fiery gates leading to the Burning Hells have begun to swing open, and the Diablo III beta test is officially underway. Invitations to participate in the beta test are now being delivered to the chosen heroes. As with beta tests for other Blizzard Entertainment games, the testing process for Diablo III will occur in phases. In addition to selecting players who have opted in via their Battle.net accounts, we’ll also be providing keys through beta promotions and giveaways -- stay tuned for more info. We welcome those invited to provide feedback or report bugs on the official forums.

If you have a beta license, you are free to show, share, or talk about any portion of the beta content to which you have access, as this beta test is not confidential.

We’d like to remind those looking forward to an invite to be wary of phishing attempts. If you believe you’ve received an invite to the Diablo III beta test, it’s best to refrain from clicking on any links in the email, and instead log in to your Battle.net account to see if a Diablo III beta game account was granted. Or, if you were sent a key, attempt to add it manually by going to the Add or Upgrade a Game section of the Battle.net account management page.

For those who have received an invite to the beta test, we thank you for helping us test out our server stability and hardware. For those of you still hoping for an invite, we wish you the best of luck and hope you’ll keep an eye out for some of the beta-key giveaways and promotions we’ll have right here on the Diablo III community site.

For more information, please see the beta opt-in announcement and FAQ.
Shit just got real. And where's my key.

Yes, but no key, it just flags your account. You might as well be spamming your battle.net account games page.

I remember hearing during a Q&A posted on here some pages back, a blizzard dev saying that drops would only load for 1 person, but if the item is then dropped by a character, it can be seen by all.

Pretty sure this is the case, I seem to remember picking up some random shit someone dropped in town to disassemble it all.

I'm pretty sure this isn't true. I just tried it right now and was able to drop something onto the ground (was in the start of the beta outside Tristram, not sure if it matters where you try it).

There have been numerous gameplay videos posted where players gave stuff to their allies by tossing it on the ground, so no, items are definitely not destroyed when you toss em.

    *edit* I type gud.
