You'll get an email, but everything I've read is that the invite shows up on your account page hours before the email.

So this may be a really stupid question, but are they only inviting people with active games on battle.net? I'm not sure what a "beta profile" is, but when I click on it, it says "You must have at least one full version of a Blizzard Entertainment game attached to this Battle.net account in order to set up your beta profile." Does that mean no beta invites for me, or am I missing something dumb?

yes, you have to have some game on battle.net in order to setup a beta profile. i have every single blizzard game on mine except for cataclysm

I ran into the same problem actually. The only Blizzard game I own is D2 and it's in my storage unit in another city. On top of that, my old Battle.net login (Sedition) seems to have been removed, so no beta sign-up for me.

You can pick up another D2 key for like $9 online, if you don't feel like waiting for 2012 and want to roll the dice on beta.

I had D2 a lonnnnnnggggg time ago (like, bone wall farming long time ago). There's a copy of WC3 floating around somewhere, and maybe even a copy of SC1, but nothing from the last few years that I could actually put my hands on. Hopefully D3 will just come out in a few months so I don't have to see everybody and their mother with beta access.
