i'm so happy that they are getting around to thinking about beta, so i can go ahead and not get an invite ever. However this does mean release is that much closer, which is good. If they follow the SC2 pattern ppl will get to use those by mid summer next year!
the looong development times drive me nuts, i'm dying to play this. However, their philosophy of "its done when its done" usually means the game is going to be outstanding. It'll be worth the wait in the end. Just...fffffuuuu i want it now!
I think i peed on myself a little bit, I was so excited watching those new trailers.
Then I remembered I'll be 30 before this game comes out.
didn't qualify how long it would take me to get to 30, just that it will be after I turn 30 lol

Blizzard "doesn't expect to release any new titles in 2011", from their quarterly report. FML.
Also: hit rating is gone and everything has a 95% chance to hit, and is unchangeable. http://blues.incgamers.com/Posts/1/1...tically-a-hit-
I'd be lying if I said everything being reduced to such simplicity didn't concern me a little bit.
Sounds fine to me, they aren't oversimplifying they're improving game mechanics.
Then again you're the same dude who thought initial aetheryte teleporting system was fine, lol.
He was one of the strongest supporters
If its not a pain in the ass, its not worth having, apparently.
Hit Rating was one of those annoying things that just made playing a melee character even more frustrating at times. Aside from arrows, most other projectiles were just a matter of clicking properly and the damage just follows. On top of that, you were also miles safer by attacking at range. This disparity just got exponentially worse when D2 did the Hell mode tweak in 1.10 or whatever that pretty much meant you were either grinding the fuck out of Meph/Baal in Nightmare to make a modest entry level Hell mode melee, or were twinking/leeching through Hell and eventually doing the same with even more leeching. D2 was also heavily tied to animation frames, making "block lock" a reality for classes like assassins or dodge-invested spearazons. So, not only were you wrestling with not hitting as much as you could, but the game could even prevent you from swinging while there wasn't really any kind of spell interruption other than being stunned (which was rare from enemies).
Really, I'm just okay with a universal visual confirmation of a hit. You can then tweak damage with appropriate resist rates for both physical and magical varieties. But physical immune damn near everything blew, too.
I was always very skeptical of D3 being released in 2011, hopeful, but skeptical.
My emo tears shall be shed tonight for no 2011 Diablo 3.![]()
Well with the removal of some stats I hope the game doesn't become as simple as WoW is now with its "Stack this, then that after X is at Y value" because one of the things I liked about D2 is balancing your gear and getting the best gear because it let you hit certain breakpoints so it made trading interesting because certain worthless items were worth something if it was perfect 200%ed or 198%+
I too shall cut my wrists tonight. It really seemed like they weren't far off from completing the game by the end of the year, but apparently not.
They didn't say it wouldn't be released in 2011. They said that no release dates have been as of yet confirmed for 2011.
However unlikely, it is still possible that D3 is released in the 4th quarter of this year.
So long as this doesn't turn into this generation's Duke Nukem Forever I will find a way to occupy my time.
Was/is, though I don't see why you'd cloud D3 talk with terrible gameness.
And I only find it concerning because hit rating was the ONLY thing you had to build your melee characters around from an offensive standpoint. There was literally nothing else you had to worry about aside from physical immunes.. just 'CAN I HIT THIS ENOUGH YET'.
[edit] And yeah.. combined with stat allocations being automatic I'm not really sure where the character building is going to come in. Everything theyve announced so far seems to be 'soft' customizations that can be changed on the fly(Items/Runes/Talismans/Respecs/Miss anything?). I guess it won't matter to everybody, but character building is one of the things that made D2 last as long as it did for me. With Stats/Hit being universal, it just feels like there a layer missing. I can see how other people could write this same thing as a positive, though.
