Well they are most definitely milking the shit out of it if you think expansion packs are considered milking. I'm sure there'll be plenty of people that just play the Terran pack much like how there was still lots of people playing WC3 after Frozen Throne though, so I doubt buying all 3 will be a necessity.

I don't think they did, just like they didn't even give a beta date for the first one =(

I wonder if it would have been out earlier if they didn't have Burning Crusade on the way...it feel like we have been waiting this game since forever.

They just love to take their time. I imagine they are afraid of not living up to the expectations Starcraft set and I'm sure it will be the same for Diablo3. They have been working on these since long before they announced them as well; in an artwork gallery there, I noticed a Diablo3 concept sketch piece dated 2004 of a really fat monster that is actually in the current build, lol. At least four years of unannounced development, and it still feels like they barely scratched the surface in what they've shown us. I'm sure there is plenty they have done that they haven't shown off yet, but its clear that Diablo3 at least won't be out for quite a long while.

My theory for SC2 is that the game isn't actually that far off from beta testing multiplayer; instead the thing that is holding them back is Battle.net2. They are really sketchy and afraid to lay out the details and plans for the new battle.net, but its clear that it will play a large part in both of their two new games. Its probably not nearly as far polished as they would like it to be, which has made them hesitant about both showing us its current manifestation and giving us a beta date.

Suprised no one has mentioned this

"Each campaign will be very different, with Pardo announcing the Zerg campaign will contain RPG elements. The Protoss campaigin will likewise be differentiated by elements of diplomacy. In addition, the Terran campaign will feature a Protoss mini-campaign."

It sounds like people are suggesting the 3 games will be separate even in online play, there is literally no chance of that happening. They wouldn't take a game like Starcraft and just split it up into 3 different games, it's just for the single player missions...

I don't know what to say to this. If you didn't like SC1, I don't know what you were expecting from SC2, lol.

Found some info on this. Looks like it may be upwards of 1 year between the game and the two expansion packs (which the video also explains a bit: they had been planning two expansion packs for a long time... they just hadn't planned on making each part being race specific). Additionally, they will be like BW or TFT were to their respective games for multiplayer as well and are likely to add new units. The whole video has a lot of good info.
