You seem to be big into CoD so we share that aspect as quite a few of my close friends that I play with are competitive, but I care WAY more for gow.

Gears1 online litereally took 2-3wk's from my life. I played all day and night, then just one day stopped. I was worried this would do the same unless I made the change in cod.

Basicaly to me feels just like gears 1 with a diffrent story, looks exactly the same as the first they added the kill moves, they work ok, but got old fast. I loved the first gears but this feels exactly like that game no diffrent besides a little improvement in the duck and cover system, a sequel is ushualy supposed to build on the 1st one and this doesnt do that at all for me, it looks exactly the same and how GT gave the story higher rating than MGS4 I'll never know.

I havent played it on-line co-op need to do that here soon, but just wanted to try out the campaign and before you fanboy's get butt hurt about someone not liking the game, I loved the first one but the game feels exactly the same as the first and once you get past the fanboyism you'll see it too.

it appears to be much more polished off than the first. i only played for about an half hour last night. i dont know what you were expecting; the first gears was unique for the style of combat. they didn't want to get away from that.

for multiplayer, is there any way to set a map cycle on? or do you have to go through the lobby after every match? getting to play multiplayer was kind of confusing.

I dunno what people really expect from a sequel. Usually they keep all the elements from the first one, and introduce a few new things in each. From every review I've read, Gears 2 does just that. The graphics in the first one were amazing, even today a year and a half later, or 2 years. I really don't think we're going to see graphics improve /that/ much more on 360. Gears is pushing it pretty far.

As good as MGS4's story was it was still extremely convoluted and took so many different directions it was hard to keep track of. There's really no reason for that. Gears 2 probably has a more "simple" story, but still good overall. A game doesn't need an overly complex story to be considered good. I know a lot of people that hate the MGS storyline.

Anyway, I'm psyched for this. Going to pick up the CE at lunch

Was at the best buy NYC midnight release last night, where Rod Fergusson and Ray Davis were signing copies. Won a 120 gb gears zune =D, I'll update with pics in a bit, when I uh..get them. Crazy night haven't slept at all.

Got a shirt, LE game, a poster, and my zune all signed by the two. Man I had fun, except for this crazy drunk 16 yr old going crazy and calling me a hollister model and such.

I beat the story mode a few minutes ago, the story was pretty good and I played some co-op horde this morning, it is def worth getting for the multiplayer, the horde mode is awesome. Going to sleep now I havent slept since I got the game at midnight, took close to 8 hrs to beat the story mode.

I've only played Act 1, but me and my friend are going to finish the rest of campaign in one sitting later today. So far what I've played has given me exactly what I wanted: more of Gears 1, but polished to a fine sheen.

Everything looks much nicer, the guns sound a lot better, meat shields are fun and funny at the same time (nothing like watching your friend's shield start losing limbs as it's taking hits)...

I don't think I'm going to like the multiplayer as much as I did the first one's, though. I absolutely loathe matchmaking. In Gears 1, I never had trouble finding a game, or having one start. Of course there were the few odd ones which did take a while, but after spending 3 months playing it, I still did not want it changed.

But overall I'm satisfied with what I played, and I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time in it.

I've been savoring over gameplay videos for weeks but I made the decision of preorder it from circuitcity.com for the free 1600MS points. It had free shipping and I've come to learn that "free shipping" means a 1~2 week wait. Standard was $7.67 so fuck that.

I'm trying to take the edge off by playing the original but I can't stand the fucking shotgun rushes anymore. The bullet lag makes lancer and pistols really inefficient as well. D:

yea, i spent a few minutes last night trying to get it set up.

after reading this morning, it seems the "Public match" mode is actually for ranked matches. "private" matches are the ones you can customize.

i also think you have to go back into the lobby after each match =(, which is kind of annoying. i liked putting on a map cycle, then just switching teams in between starts.

Finally tried out some Horde, and I've got to say it's definitely some of the most fun I've had in co-op gaming in a looooooong time.

The fish/krakken boss is fucking retarded. Wasted over 1h trying to beat it (on hardcore) because it was glitching on us. One of us was always getting stuck (couldn't move at all) until they get crushed, or the fucking grenade wouldn't drop in its mouth.

Got it yesterday, beat it in 7 hours on hardcore. good game good graphics etc etc. Only thing I dont like is the online community.

Just play Horde, it is the most fun I had online in a long time and then you wont have to deal with GoW online idiots screaming and singing in the headset.
