The wide-ranging agreement covers all titles available for digital distribution in the Warner Bros. catalogue including current and back-catalogue major motion pictures and television programs. All titles offered in the DivX format are compatible with a variety of DivX Certified devices from major consumer electronics brands, including DVD players, Blu-ray devices, gaming consoles and more. The agreement allows retailers who sign additional agreements with DivX and Warner Bros. to offer Warner titles in the DivX digital media format.

No DRM movies? From a major studio? See topic title.

Seriously, unless I really, really misread the article, WB will allow people to purchase DRM free DivX movies for playback on their computers or devices that support DivX. Color me happy. :D

[Vandole]

awesome.

[Beckwin]

funny how this is on the heels of recently signed legislation that sharply increased fines for piracy and allows the federal gov't to seize your computer if they find one pirated mp3 on it.

Actually, I didn't want to get all ranty in the OP over the excitement. Seriously, this may be the first sign of companies realizing how fucking stupid DRM is. I completely agree that companies should attempt to protect their IP, but not at the expense of the consumers...

The more invasive it gets, the more people balk at it. Case in point: Spore.
